Last-minute mayhem!
Jan. 24th, 2005 01:02 pmFinally, some time on the comp! I tried to install SP2 on this comp (yes, I gave in-- I reasoned that the vulnerabilities in IE aren't worth the hassle of the other issues, which I'm sure will be fixed later on) but of course, since this XP is er... less than legal, shall we say, it doesn't work. And being that I'm leaving in two days, I guess it's not really my problem anymore, is it? ^^; In any case, Symantec is mysteriously working again, so I don't need to uninstall and reinstall THAT.
Today I'm trying to get some online stuff finished-- and eventually turn the comp over to Scott, because I feel bad for shafting him the other day when we went to the Main Library and I used up all of my 45 minutes entirely on my own. ^^; But he was forgiving, of course, and all was well later on. We have these spontaneous, serious talks that end up being entirely necessary, very tough and revealing... it all makes things easier/better in the end, I think.
What else? Well, we finished our movie marathon, so tomorrow we're going to visit my Dad in Alameda and return the five DVDs: The Mask of Zorro, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Usual Suspects (trippy movie!), the Italian Job (hey, I liked it!) and Devil's Advocate (ULTRA-TRIPPY!). Unfortunately, there's a bunch we HAVEN'T done yet-- gone to RTA/Pier 39, checked out Japantown... or met any of "the guys," like Vince, Jimbo, etc... I mean, HI GUYS!!! where are you? *sniffle* I miss everyone...
I've been having a bunch of trippy dreams lately though (and I'm willing to bet that "trippy" is my word of the day). Last night's/this morning's is really the only one I remember though. Here's how it went (maybe you can decipher it for me): I rush in late to this classroom that's got somewhat strange ambient, dim lighting, and lots of circular tables scattered around, with those plush, swively office chairs bolted to it in a semi-circle. The teacher is this lady vaguely reminiscent of Professor T (can't spell it) from Harry Potter-- scraggly hair, except it's dark instead of gray or blonde or brown or whatever it was. It was some Creative Writing 300-level class.
There was only five minutes left of the course though, because I thought it started at 11, and it really started at 8am... and I sat down and tried to catch up, but to no avail-- and worse, the teacher pissed me off by still expecting me to turn some assignment that I didn't know about in! A nice girl at my table told me that the assignment sheet was on page 1084 of our book or something... but yikes, 1000+ pages? o_O I also remember seeing Jonathan Potter-- sitting in a suit on the other side of the class. (Great, just what I need.) I shouted at the teacher that I shouldn't have to put up with her shiznit, that I was good enough for Upper Division, but she didn't care. -_-; And then for some even more bizarre reason I saw/thought of Jason Cunningham... >_< He's just never going to get out of my head, is he? (Screw this, I think I'll just Friend him on Friendster and see what happens.)
I don't think I'll be able to get my PS2 modded, either... which is a major bummer, but knowing me, Evil Genius that I am, I have a Plan! Yes, with a capital 'p!' Mom was intending to pay for the mod chip and install via credit card (since she has no cash/checking $ on hand-- she's behind on the rent and other bills, which makes me wonder why she was so insistent on getting me the chip in the first place...). But that's not what Dave (the install guy from PSX-TECH) wanted-- since I'm a local install, he probably wanted me to come in with cash or a check. No go on that end-- I only have $32 in my accounts, since I had to lend Scott $35 to pay a bill... >_< But I'll have money once I get to Northridge and I get my FinAid check and deal with my ScholarShare and CalGrant! Yeeeaah!
Anywho, the Plan is to buy the chip myself (or Mom can, if she's feeling generous post-tax-doing and such) and have it shipped to LA-- that's $50 less than it would be with the local install, so if Scott can figure out how to open up my PS2 and do it himself, all the better! Plus he says he could also do it to HIS PS2 (which is technically his PS2 that he gave to a friend that doesn't use it), which is in better condition than my V7 used one. ^^; I still have to glue the CD tray panel back in place...
Aside from all that, I'm feeling deliciously inspired for Circle of Seven, I've finished my FAFSA corrections, I've got this great little book that I picked up at the Booksmith in Haight/Ashbury called "The Writer's Block," chock full of inspirational ideas, and then some. Anyhow, I've got to shower and get ready to pack and plan my last two days here... that'll be a whirlwind for sure. Scott really need to use the comp, and I'm still not sure how/if he'd react to my LJ-- so I'm just going to close this right here. I swear, I'll catch up on everyone else's LJ's eventually... I'm positive I've missed out on bunches. ;_; WAUGH!
