Back to the B
Jan. 29th, 2005 10:11 pmWell, I'm a brunette again. This time it's due to letting myself be guinea pig to Shaina and Brooke, who are always insistent one way or another about changing my style or my face. Baba is the only one who says I should have lighter, lighter hair. o_O She's seen me as both blonde and redhead, and it's never light enough! Well, Scott seems to like it-- I even got a free haircut out of the deal, a sort of Chloe/Josie-esque flippy style. I like it. I also now know that plucking my eyebrows doesn't hurt so much to look good, plus I NEED to wear blush, since I'm as white as Casper.
A few other interesting things...
(1) School starts in two days. I've got 2 of my 5 needed books; the others are New-Only and require $... but $ I have more than enough of, thanks to my school! ^_^ Japan, here I come!
(2) Scott's also moving in in two days. It wasn't any trouble (just like he said) "convincing" Baba and Grandpa. I have a feeling that if this works out (with him and me living together despite being in a relationship, and with him being here and taking up a room) then he won't keep looking for another close-by place. ^_^ I hope it works.
(3) I recently finished, after much sweat, tears, and computer bashing, WDKY15. I can't wait to get working/finishing on WDKY16, because it's steamy, angsty, and plotty all at the same time. Mamono's got WDKY15 (final) now, and I'm hoping to send it to Atlantis and Kysra once I figure out wtf is up with my FFnet email and Outlook Express. Is anyone else with a paid FFnet account experiencing difficulties downloading (to a client) your email? I don't want to get copies later on by accidentally downloading them to Yahoo and then OE...
(4) Speaking of computer bashing, the comp I'm on was pretty much shot dead when I got back here to Northridge, though heaven knows how. Grandpa and I jointly invested in McAfee Internet Security-- which we technically already had, but had no boot disk/CD of to backup in case of "accidents" such as those that plagued our computer. It cost less than the two important programs we lacked in the first place, Privacy Service and Firewall Plus. I'll try and also get GIANT AntiSpyware (the real version, not the trial) but since GIANT's been bought out by Microsoft, who knows what the heck will happen...? The computer is pretty much overflowing with Internet Explorer pop-ups (even though I've switched to Mozilla's Firefox) and mysterious slow-down periods, even though I've uninstalled unnecessary programs, and we have plenty of disk space free. I'm thinking of getting the memory upgraded from 256MB (the standard minimum these days, right?) to 512, or maybe a few Gigs. Good idea/bad idea?
(5) Condé Nast (the major media firm) has bought YM. Or they did in October, but the lovely bastards at the magazine didn't bother telling subscribers. Instead, we had to find out from Teen Vogue when they sent us their Euro-sized January issue. I researched the reasons why, and apparently YM went under due to low circulation. -_- Damn. I liked YM so much more than I like Teen Vogue, since the latter is pretty much a mini version of the Mama magazine, chock full of ridiculously priced clothes, trends that will fade in a week or are impossible to do... and so on. Plus I had this big dream of working for YM, and now it's been shot to all hell. GRRRREEEAT. I'm officially considering talking to the heads of the Japanese and Journalism departments and "customizing" my major (if I can) to be something like International Print Journalism. I'd love to be a multilingual reporter. ^_^
I still have lots of LJs to catch up on, but at least I've at last uploaded my mood icons, created by Mamono! She's an angel what with all she does for me... and I seriously have to do some very belated (think Valentine's Day) "Christmas Wishes" for everyone, WDKYicons, and so on. Then there's the games I have that I want to finish-- I beat FFX-2, and am stuck in the Gunner's Gauntlet again, I'm close to beating FFX (minus a few Legendary Weapons), and then there's a host of others, including my newest acquisition for the PC, "Riddle of the Sphinx." Oh yeah, and make Mamono's mood set! ;_;
Not sure if there's much else to say-- knowing me I'll think of it later. Hopefully my updates will be more regular and fun-filled from here on out. I'll also try to keep updating Snapshot's new location, my LiveJournal scrapbook-- go check it out!
