'Tis the land of Nomomia.
Aug. 31st, 2003 10:55 pmNo-Mom-ia. Mom's not home. Why am I not surprised? On our way here, I said (at Masonic), "$5 says Mom's not home." And she's not. Not even a note, or a message. On either phone. What a role reversal. And I used to think my DAD didn't care about me.
Well, the trip home went MUCH faster than expected, probably because we left Northridge around 4pm, and didn't stop, except once to get gas. 365 miles in roughly 5 hours-- really good time! Didn't see all that much on the road there, even though it was daylight most of the time... there was a cop in a really slick convertible Sebring or some such, you wouldn't see one of those coming if it caught you speeding!
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that on the way TO LA, I was staring at the stars a lot-- I think I saw the Milky Way! Did I mention that? It was really pretty, all those stars... and we saw some low-flying stunt airplanes too, flying REALLY close to the highway, it was almost scary. >)
Ho-hum... read dad some of the paperwork from his school portfolio, since his classes start Tuesday. Haha, I wish I could be there to see him! I hope the students like him and all... ^_^ AHS is kind of preppy I imagine, and quite huge, but I guess Dad will have fun with teaching. If he survives, hah!
Did lots of logic puzzles in the car, too, but that got kind of old. Didn't sleep much-- just for the first 94 miles or so, when it was kind of warm. Weird, since I'd chugged a lot of Coke before I'd left! Dad, for his part, had 2 energy drinks and a Sierra Mist, so he didn't even bat an eye! Uhm, uhm... mom's not home. I'm pretty disappointed, and being in this house all by myself is quite lonely-- it's always dark and cold and everything (and having a dead sister shrine right behind me isn't helping with the mojo). Piku, piku... I wonder if the college people are off tomorrow... there's some people I want to see, obviously... I'm going to be somewhat bored until Orientation at 6pm this Wednesday. Oh yeah, when I told Dad about maybe having to close at 3am, he freaked out. He hates San Francisco, and though Van Ness isn't the most pristine of places, I've never had problems there before. Don't get me wrong, I'm not being cocky a'la Ranma or anything, but seriously, I've lived here all my life, I think I can handle stuff. Not to mention, you all know what a loud screamer I am! >)
Now that I think about it, I should have waited before accepting the employment so immediately from the 1000... I didn't expect to hear from the Kabuki, but I did-- they're having a thing this week too. It's closer to home, and though I don't like the theater, the AREA is at least better, and I could always have Japanese for lunch, and spend my wages on manga! @_@... So I don't even know if I should/can go to the Kabuki orientation thing, since I'm technically already an "employee" of AMC 1000.
In any case, Wednesday I have to bring my social security card. I mentioned this to mom, and she insisted I have a safe-security box (fire resistant and all that) in my room. I swear, she's losing her mind. The box she's thinking of is the one that used to be Michelle's, and when she died, Mom kept HER stuff in it, in HER closet! All that pot smoking has seriously given her brain damage... I find it ironic that my Dad, who I used to HATE for the same reason (Mom's never going to be on my A+ list because of that habit of hers) is now an advocate of ANTI-drug use, including marijuana! Now that he's a teacher, he can't have any of the stuff on him, for medical reasons or no, since they have teacher drug tests. FINALLY! It's just weird. And I don't bother to keep it a secret anymore. I'm ashamed of my mom, so there.
I went through ALL of my Fastweb scholarships earlier, printed out a series of application forms, and even applied for one, totaly typing an essay on the fly! I hope I hear from some of these places... sadly a lot of great opportunities I passed up while I was still in HS... I'm angsting over the fact that I haven't heard from SFSU yet. Can't apply to CSUN (did I mention that too? Maybe that memory thing is hereditary) because they don't accept Spring 2004 applicants that are freshman. Blah.
Ooh, there's this cool program called Animoids that lets you design 3D characters, props and sets, and the people doing it have a contest for scholarships! I downloaded the program to Grandpa's computer, but I barely used it, since the tutorials were kind of hard. But hey, if I can win money for being creative-- after all, some guy at SFSU won $300 for drawing a 3D ninja! >)
Okay, thought burbles.
CHILDREN'S STORIES

MANGA
I'm Listening - Miyuki loves music-- she lives for it. Never without her cassette player, she's always getting in trouble for not paying attention in her classes. On one day, she actually takes off her headphones and talks to her best friend, who walks with her to school every day. Why? Because she thought she heard, even over her loud music, something scratching underneath the sidewalk gratings. Her friend insists she was imagining things, but was she? Ironically enough, they discover that a classmate of theirs has recently disappeared. When Miyuki walks home, she stumbles across the same area she thought she "heard" something from, and finds a small cassette tape-- that just might lead her to the missing girl! The police and the young detective they've assigned to the job don't want Miyuki to have anything to do with the disappearance or the case, but what Miyuki knows might save someone's life!
Soul Half - Everyone on Sai's planet seems to have a Soul Half. By the time most people are entering their second year of high school, they've found the one they're destined to be with for the rest of their lives. So why is it that Sai is always alone? Sai embarks on a journey to discover herself, and along the way, meets some rather "interesting" characters-- but will she ever find the other Half to her own Soul?
I think that's all I had running around my brain at this moment... Might remember more later. Any of these sound particularly interesting to anyone?
Uhm... feeling kind of sick, sad, and tired. I might go to bed soon, having nothing better to do. I guess it's kinda nice to be home.
