Action, Reaction
Aug. 11th, 2003 11:22 amWell, yesterday wasn't really all that good. I'd gotten home from Amber's around 9pm (if not later) and promptly went to sleep on the couch. I set the alarm for 10am, but I woke up sporadically at 3am, 5am, and 7am. -.-; My internal clock apparently has a sense of humor. Anyway, so I finally settled for STAYING awake at 9am, reading "Unseen: The Burning," which is one of the novels I got... the Buffy/Angel crossover one. I neglected to realize it was a trilogy though, so even though I'm done with the book, I'm not "done" with the story. I have to get the final two books in the series (not to mention the next books in "Daughters of the Moon" and "Circle of Three") next time I go to the library. Hehe, I should drag Amber along with me.
Okay, so I woke up and was reading... to my SHOCK, Gary (Mom's boyfriend) was STILL HERE! Mom saw him off while I sat on the couch, open-mouthed, and probably even more ashen than I usually am (which basically means I was see-through). She had a LOAD of dishes she said she was going to do... after all, she too the opportunity of me being gone to have her BF sleepover two nights in a row, APPARENTLY. Ulch.
Anyway, so I finally got around to leaving the house around 11:30, which I thought was okay... Jeremy'd said that they'd serve lunch at 1pm. I got there a little after 12:30, but ALL the food was gone. -.- And me with only $5. And of course, no tokens to play games. Sure, DMX was in the back room (which by the way, reminds me of Sausalito studio apartments... I napped on the hardwood floor making all these odd observations about the shine) on Free Play, as was Joemi's PS2, and various people had their laptops set up. There was one of those odd monitor-box things, like they have at the Metreon, but Jeremy set up his computer to it, and they played all sorts of stuff... it was cool though, since it had great speakers.
I guess I should be glad that no one gave me any grief over approval? Benji acted sort of strange towards me, so I wonder if he has a problem with me, and if Jimbo had actually *refused* me entry, if he would have too. I guess I shouldn't dwell though; doesn't matter now.
Anyway, went with Joemi to Subway to quench the hunger, got a Snapple at 7-11, and headed back, sufficiently broke. After eating in the back and watch some people play Pop'N'Music, spent my last dollar or so on tokens. I played a few ticket games, but without the incredible luck of Friday. Talked to Rene (sp?) a little bit too; he told me why RTA was refusing to hire people from our "crew" anymore. So Will, if you're still dead-set on getting a job at RTA, I hate to break it to you, but FAT CHANCE. And I'm just as disappointed as you, since Jer told me that they needed someone to open up in the morning, and they couldn't have Benji be the only one to do it (I was surprised seeing Benji working there; I didn't know!). So anyway, it turns out RTA has been losing revenue, since we've been getting discounted games, free games, and the like. I can totally understand from the business perspective why it would be hard to work at a place that you and your friends frequent; you'd be subject to peer pressure, and seriously, to be honest, no one is exempt. You can say "But I won't give them anything, no matter what," but you're not in that situation now, so you really can't say. And RTA has had a "bad experience" with the last two workers they hired from our "crew" (can we even call it that anymore, now that everyone's breaking up and/or hating one another? It's so sad). So... yeah.
I didn't get the job at the Exploratorium either, and here RTA's shot, but I'm going to keep trying! There's still the possibility of something at the Zeum, but I really need to get my printer fixed or something so I can print cover letters again. *sigh*
Oh, did I neglect to mention that I'm a redhead now? Those that didn't see me at the Going-Away party, now you know. Amber did it, and a damn good job, too! Much better than other people *eyes Mom warily* have in the past... She used some sort of turkey baster brush or whatnot to even out the goo. =D So it's official, I've been every natural hair color! Well, not black, but you know, there are blondes, redheads, and brunettes, but what do you call people with black hair? I have no idea. -.-;
Let's see... also at the party, several people were nice enough to either give me tickets or give me tokens, which made me very happy-- according to Rene, that glittery lava lamp is the last one they have, so it's MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE! I'm less than 550 tickets away from my goal of 2000 now, so I must start winning tickets! Sad thing was, yesterday there was this guy that kept getting 500 tickets from the drill-push machine (you know the one where you have to align the drill to the buttons, or the holes with prizes in them? But the timer goes so fast!) and he had this HUUUGE pile of them. He even got tired of waiting for the tickets to come out, so he left and let some other little kid have them. ^^;
*muddles* What else? I told some tarots for people when I got bored-- after my brief nap, I woke up and asked the cards some questions of my own, and then people started "ooohing" and "aahing," so they asked me to tell their fortunes as well. To be frank, I have never felt more like Hitomi Kanzaki from ESCAFLOWNE before. The guy that originally wanted me to tell his fortune never came back though, or at least didn't ask for his fortune told, even though I'd set up shop on the table. Told fortunes for both Joemi and Richie, and I hope I helped them out-- but in both their spreads, I got cards I never got before-- the blank card in Joemi's, and the Tower in Richie's. Everything seemed to work out in the end, and I also got to explain how Tarot had no strictly "bad" or "wrong" cards to this little kid (ugh, I forgot his name) asking about it. We started leaving after that, and I came up with the great idea of a Ranma tarot deck. It's probably been done before, so I'm thinking of using specific illustrations, either anime or manga (not sure which yet) or setting them up for use in a program I have, Wise Tarot.
So we all got to leaving... some people had left earlier, like Siggy. And then we split into two factions, the BART people and the MUNI people. MUNI people being much smaller, consisting only of myself, Jeremy, and Ryan-who-doesn't-play-DDR. We took the K, and I promptly forgot the stop I was supposed to get off at (Junipero Serra/Ocean) and ended up all the way back at damn CCSF! So I was alone, freezing, and understandably (I should hope!) upset. Then, to make matters worse, I missed the K going in the other direction while corssing the street, and after lengthy waiting, the 29! I was the ONLY person on the goddamned island, wwaving my arms, and it went RIGHT past me! I wanted to be home, because I was cold, hungry, and just getting generally depressed and pissed off, and I practically (okay, I did. I admit it, I'm a friggin' baby. HAPPY NOW!?) burst into tears.
*sigh* Another 29 came a few minutes later, and I figured if it didn't stop right away, I'd stand in the friggin' gutter so it stopped. It stopped a good 10 feet away, and the bus driver asked me why I'd been standing in the street. Being pissed off and red-eyed as I was, I just bit back that the last 29 went right by me, and stomped to my seat. The ride went pretty fast, but of course, once at Lincoln Way and 19th, the 28 I would have taken to go home left. *sigh* So I took the 29 all the way to Fulton/25th Avenue, and, not in the mood for more Bad Bus Luck, walked the rest of the way home.
Decided that hot cocoa wasn't a good idea after all, marched into my room, and tossed everything off my bed. Replaced the sheets, and promptly went to bed, even though it was only 9:40. Lonnie called around 12am, but he's busy all this week. So... blah. No comfort or anything on that end. I'm being selfish, anyhow, I really have to focus on getting a job and getting into SFSU. That and I really want to see my dad again.
[EDIT: I GOT AN A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!]
Anyway, so I had a really weird dream last night. I tried to interpret it this morning, but who knows, it makes no sense. Read more.
Okay, so I'm not sure whether this happened first or last, so bear with me here. I was in this big fancy ballroom with a lot of people, sitting at these round tables and looking up towards this balcony. Everything was pretty dim, but I did see two people up in them balcony-- Commander Riker and Deanna Troi! Yes, from Star Trek! I haven't watched anything Star Trek in a while, so this weirded me out. It looked like Riker was trying to propose to her or something, but he wanted a little... help? So I got up and made some sort of speech-- there was a ring that Captain Picard had passed/tossed to me; it was in a purple-glittery lipstick case or something, but it still had that same plush-insides that jewelry boxes have. And I was complimenting Troi's dress, this strapless blue thing with silver accents, saying how well the ring would go with it, and who wouldn't want Riker, isn't he cute? ^^; Eventually Troi and Riker were laughing and she said yes while she hugged him, so I walked up this curving staircase and gave her the ring. It was upstairs that I noticed Riker was wearing a red tuxedo. o_O
When I turned around, I was no longer in formal wear, nor was it dark. I was outside over in the late avenues, somewhere in the late 30s or 40s. I was apparently walking with a big group of people, and Amber was among them, but Miss Kitty (her cat) had run away, so I offered to go get it. I chased the cat across the street, and near the beginning of the next block, it ran into the backyard of someone's house, with a gate. There was a staircase going up to the gate, and so I leaned on the stairs trying to get Kitty to come out. The cat gave me this really weird look, and came out from between the gates, and promptly bit me on the hand-- HARD. But I picked it up anyway, by the scurff of its neck (a collar?) and brought it back to Amber, who never looked happier to have her cat back.
And then I woke up.
I looked up cat, speech, and proposal in my dream book... o_O Not much sense out of any of them, aside from maybe bad luck. Geh.
*le sigh* For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Or, the probability of the bread landing butter-side up is inversely proportional to the cost of the carpet and cleaning.
