Well, while I wait...
Jul. 31st, 2003 01:22 amOkay, so I'm just here because I'm downloading some patches from Ubisoft for Myst III: Exile! Yeppers, EXILE! WHOOHOO! Joe helped me get it ("Lunch" today was a overpriced fajita and lemonade at Baja Grill or whatever-- $10!!) at Babbage's, and it was only $10! =D o_O I should have paid attention to the compatibility issues though, I was so bummed when it kept spitting errors at me! But Mer ALWAYS does her research, so I found two patches that should solve the problem. I won't get offline until Myst works. -.-
Anywho, got myself that peach (well, I really wanted a nectarine, but Albertson's didn't have any) and 3 boxes of Macaroni (YUM! DINNER!) after we left Joe's house... hm, let me rewind. Left my house around 3pm after doing the dishes and some cleaning up... went downtown, took Bart. Amused myself by rereading part of Banana Yoshimoto (my favorite author)'s "N.P." I love books, and keeping them in bookshelves is good, because when you have a long trip ahead of you, then it's always nice to have something cool to read, that you look at and remember "Wow, I loved this book." Next up on the list is like... "Lovely Bones," that angsty horror that everyone (including Eva and my aunt Sally) have been talking about. Depresso beans at the beginning, but apparently a thrill ride, or just a great book. Still, I wanna see if there's more BY out.
Joe met me at Lake Merrit Bart, and off to the mall we went! But it was all the way in Dublin/Pleasanton, so he probably could have just met me at the BART there. 'Course, that woulda cost me more money... ANYWAY! You know Bart's upgraded their ticket-making machines. They're all high-tech and computery now, so there's less errors. And they give out change, in like, quarters and nickels and stuff. It's quite handy. Still, I can't help but hope that the transit system card (forgot what it's called, but you see them on the MUNI buses sometimes) goes through; MUNI and BART are the last two transit systems in the whole co-op or whatever that hasn't signed the contract yet. Basically, it puts ONE card, for ALLLLL these Bay Area transit systems-- Muni, Bart, AC Transit, Sam Trans, the whole nine yards. And it acts like FastTrak or whatnot does for cars, where it just deducts credit from a specified account. Nice and handy.
I love the Stoneridge mall. It doesn't have much of a food court, but someone like me who's limited to the Stonestown Galleria or the San Francisco Shopping Centre (excuse me, "Westfield Shopping Center") it gets pretty tiresome, not being able to go to Serramonte or all these other great places. So we hit up EB Games, and got "Myst III" and *hee hee* Typing of the Dead! It's basically "The House of the Dead" but instead of a gun, you type letters that appear over the monsters. It's got the same graphics... except the heroes wear these Dreamcasts powered by yellow batteries on their back, and they have keyboards in front of them. I shit you not, this was hilarious seeing it. Still, Joe had one of those Ergonomic-whatever keyboards that curve, so I was in... well, like 59th place overall. So much for my l33t typing skills. Speaking of which, joined this thing called Project Dolphin which tracks the number of keystrokes you make in a minute and such, and records them online against other people, teams, countries, and so forth. Unfortunately, some creeps in the Netherlands are owning us! Come on people, we have games that require an endless amount of typing, lke Stepmania! All you Heavy players, download the invisible Dolphin pulsator thing, and show them Euros who's boss!
>_> What else? I was supposed to get a present for Steph today, but everything great was too expensive. And it sucked, because I saw a lot of things *I* wanted too, like notebooks, clothes at Hot Topic (OMG! Amber, you and I should go shopping there! SPREE!!) and BUNCHES AND BUNCHES of other stuff. >_> I dragged poor Joe around, but he said he was used to it. At least I'm not the type to try and not buy. =P
Went back to his house, watched some Kodocha (the HK rip is actually pretty good quality) and perused all these "year in preview" manga books from Shounen Jump, Tokyopop, and Viz that he got from AX. And I got to keep them, too! YAY! ~_~ More manga for me to become obsessed with! I want to read Hana Yori Dango now, but the translation of the title, "Boys Over Flowers..." is that actually correct!? o_O And the guy with the half-dreds looks weird. Reminds me of someone, but I can't think of who. Anyway, he also got me a purse (cute, purple canvas pouch with hibiscus and turtles) and mom some candles (I think). Very thoughtful of him, and now I have a beach-ish purse! =D YAAAY!
Better get back to my Macaroni and downloading of my patch (22%... so SLOW!)
*snore* I wanna write Peach Girl now.
