Mummies alive! Or rather, Mummy, The.

So I'm rewatching "The Mummy" just for fun, and as with all movies, I'm pretty sure this one's got a number of gaffes or juicy tidbits left out. For starters:
(1) Why exactly was Rick O'Connell in prison? We saw him get away from Hamunaptra, and obviously the desert didn't kill him as Ardeth Bay predicted, but what happened in those three years?
(2) Evy, Rick, and Jonathan found the eaten-alive mummy of Imhotep under the legs of Anubis, while the Book of the Dead (rather than the gold-covered Book of Amun-Ra) and some mysterious canopic jars were found nearby. They couldn't have been Imhotep's canopic jars, unless his jars were created and left empty, but why would Anck-su-Amun's jars be buried WITH the Book of the Dead, so close to Imhotep? We don't even know if she got reburied in the same crypt as before, or if she got reburied near Imhotep as "punishment" for killing the Pharaoh? I don't understand why she would have gotten a semi-decent burial, considering her crime in the first place, mistress of the Pharaoh or no. The question is, who would have exposed her? With the Pharaoh and his mistress/queen dead, Imhotep gone with his priests, only the Medjai and the princess, Nefertiri could have done so, and I wonder who would have taken the throne and been the to convince. We don't know if Seti had children in the movieverse. No matter how you slice it, it makes no sense that Anck-su-Amun's canopic jars are buried with the Book of the Dead. It's almost like they WANTED them to be used by Imhotep to try and bring her back again!
Would Imhotep still have cursed everyone who opened the chest, even if they hadn't found and taken the canopic jars? He demanded to know where they are, so they must be of some importance, but I imagine they're Anck-su-Amun's, considering he's going after the book in order to resurrect her, too (or so Beni says).
(3) Why would the curse upon Imhotep cause him to have the powers where he brings with him the 10 plagues? After all, the Biblical story goes that GOD -the Jewish/Christian God- was the one that brought the plagues upon Egypt because the Pharaoh didn't free the Hebrew slaves, not something that the Egyptian gods had anything to do with, or that the people summoned. Why would a cursed Egyptian priest, of all people, have those abilities? Heck, back when Imhotep was around in the Mummy-verse, it was long before Moses even came around, so even the people that cursed him wouldn't have known about the plagues!
(4) When the chest's trap compartment is discovered, four whole canopic jars are found inside, but there's a broken one in there, too. There are normally only four, since the heart isn't removed from Egyptians during mummification, despite what Evy tells Rick when they first get to Hamunaptra.
(5) Imhotep, while gathering "parts" and the vitality of those that opened the cursed chest, is afraid of cats. Ardeth Bay explains that they're guardians of the Underworld, but this isn't part of Egyptian mythology; while cats were considered very important and revered, they weren't guardians of the Underworld in any scholarly work I could find. Supposedly, two lions did help guard the entrance and exit of the underworld, but only while the sun (Ra) was making his journey down there (at sunset and sunrise).
(6) Evy, Beni, and Imhotep arrived back at Hamunaptra via sandstorm; Jonathan, Ardeth Bay, and Rick came via Winston's airplane. But there's a veritable herd of camels not that far from Hamunaptra that Beni loads up with the treasure he finds. Where did they come from? I'm guessing they might have been "leftovers" from the American crew, when they abandoned Hamunaptra after Imhotep awakened. Not all of them had horses, after all, and some of their diggers and crew died! Or, they could be camels from the Medjai who died there, maybe? I wonder how many camels get abandoned in the desert and just naturally wander to a cityscape, instead of an oasis?
(7) Imphotep requires Evy to help resurrect Anck-su-Amun in order to restore her vitality; he didn't need her before, because Anck-su-Amun still had her body...but she didn't have her organs! And if Anck-su-Amun was in the process of being mummified to the point of being laid in a crypt, why the heck was her body in such good condition when Imhotep first stole it away back in Ancient Egypt? It didn't even have wrappings on it, just black clothing!
Of course, I'm not the only one that's noticed this!
