I haven't done review replies in a while, and you might think that because I have the ability to use FFnet's new Review Reply option, I would take advantage of it. However, the thing with the FFnet Review Reply is that they are private, not posted anywhere on the site. With these, not only can you see which reviews I took special notice of, but which ones asked pertinent enough questions for me to answer. As always, keep your eyes peeled for interesting information or secret spoilers!
Note: I do not post all reviews that I receive here; only the ones that I feel I should reply to. For all reviews, I do NOT edit them for content/spelling/etc. in any way.
For lengthier reviews, I will insert my commentary where appropriate. The actual review will resume in italicized text.
If more reviews come in for this (or any older) chapter(s), then I will respond to them at the BOTTOM of this page, and indicate a “last updated” section here at the TOP. If there is no LAST UPDATED area, that means this post has not changed since the original post date.
UniChild -- I squealed when I got the chapter update in my inbox. :3 And I don't usually do that. It's just been so long.
Beautiful work on this one, I must say, what a great way to come out of the movie.
Very smooth. ^_^
I do feel slightly sorry for Yugi, but...hey I didn't go searching for a good SetoxAnzu fic for no reason. xD
Thank you! Glad you liked it-- with this arc, I was really worried people would just hate the fact that the plot line revolved around the story from the movie, and then just give up on WDKY and not keep going! I'm glad you did decide to keep reading.
With Yugi, you're not alone! I feel bad too, but it's also that aspect of the idea of Azureshipping (that there will be "sacrifices," and not everyone's going to be happy) that I think make it more realistic, and more in-character (I hope). Plus, I refuse to be one of those authors that has to pair off everyone in order to achieve some mythical "happy ending." I won't create an OC for Yugi to end up with, either. That's just a fact, and I don't think I'm spoiling anything by saying it. But I'm not going to turn him into emo-boy, woe is him for not being "chosen" (or alternatively "being betrayed") by Téa. I think he's a strong enough character on his own, and because WDKY is taking place during the anime and manga timeline, he's still got a lot of growing to do.
Smile For Me -- Oh. my. bloody. ra. YOU UPDATED! BLESS YOUR SOUL! may the dean at Tokiwa University grant you many, many favors. lol. that's so kewl. so you're going to be in Japan. (sigh) so ambitious. i wanted to transfer over to Japan for college too, but yeah... too broke. and way too lazy. isn't school down there known as the dark ages or something? or is that just high school. lol. haha. So, just curiosity buggin me. are you from the States? or Britain? and what field are you going into? i'm taking a running start course and ionno what i'm doing. never been to college, i hope its way better than high school. ? anyways.
Nope, no grand favors from the dean, but I did have a good time in Japan-- learned a lot. Isn't that sad that when I posted the chapter, it was before I left, and now that I'm finally writing these review replies, it's been more than a year and a half since I got BACK? I'm sorry about that!
That said, the schools there are pretty good! I can't speak for their university system, since I only know the one that I went to, but the middle and high schools are enviable.
As for your other questions, I'm from the States. I'm a journalism major with a minor in English Creative Writing, hence the fic writing mixed in with a bit of "gritty real life." *laugh*
Thanks for updating! It killed me when you left off the action on chap 24, but this one was good! haha and next wun is steamy eh? got a lil naughtiness going on there. haha go Anzu. you dirty. lucky slut! lol. (sigh) i really can't wait to see what you have in store at Anzu's tournament.
The fact that everything revolves around Yami-Anzu-Seto love triangle all the way from ancient times is so kewl. I was leaning on something like that too with my plot of my story (whistles... still haven't update in over a year...) but haha never got that deep. lol
maybe once I read the little azure steam next chapter it will inspire me to write naughtiness for my fic also. haha.
Well I hope you enjoy your time in Japan! And LOVING THIS STORY OH SO MUCH!
Mm, having already posted 25, reading your comment about what you think might happen has me pursing my lips! I wonder if it worked out the way you thought it might? I mean, I tried to be steamy... ack, this is stuff for a 25 review reply! I'll shut up about that now.... Anyway, hope you're still reading and enjoying the fic!

SHE UPDATED!
My god the wait for this one was insane, moreso because of the slight cliffhanger ending in the last chapter. Suffice to say that for the past month or so I have checked up on this everyday to look for updates of any kind. Of course when I finally saw that you had I jumped out of my seat.
Which brings up an interesting story.
You see, I was almost an hour late to work today...do you know why? It was because last night at 12am in the morning I found that you had updated and stayed up till 1:30 drinking in every word. I had to get up at 7 for work, so of course I overslept. I am holding YOU solely responsible for this. But since the chapter was again above and beyond anything I might have expected I'll let you slide.
On to the chapter review.
One thing I think I should point out, though it is a bit of nitpicking. When you were explaining Yugi and Kaiba's graveyards you mentioned that they were about equal in card count, however...due to the Virus card eliminating more than 20 of Yugi's cards his should of had far more.
You're half right. The power boost Anubis got ONLY came from Monster Cards (not Magic or Traps), and only from monsters once, so monsters with the same name would only give one boost, not two or more. Here's how it breaks down for Yugi:
* Queen's Knight
* Jack's Knight
* King's Knight - all destroyed when Yugi sacrificed them to summon Slifer
* Cards 10x - destroyed when Kaiba first activated the Deck Destruction Virus (the first Peten the Dark Clown), but there's no way to know how many were Monsters, Magic and/or Traps; we do know that ONE of them was the Dark Magician Girl, so at most 9 of them could have been non-Monster cards
* Magician's Valkyria - destroyed by Kaiba's Paladin of White Dragon
* Cards 10x again - destroyed the second time Kaiba activated the Deck Destruction Virus (the second Peten the Dark Clown); again, there's no way to know what amount of those were Monsters, Magic, or Trap cards
* Dark Magician - destroyed when Yugi sacrificed him with the DMG (specially summoned from the first time she was destroyed; cards only count once for the bonus, and Yugi only has one DMG in his deck, anyway) to summon the Sorcerer of Dark Magic
* Sorcerer of Dark Magic - destroyed when Kaiba summoned the Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon and then attacked with it
* Big Shield Gardna - destroyed on the second turn Kaiba had the BESD out
* Watapon - destroyed by Andro Sphinx
* Obnoxious Celtic Guardian - destroyed by Sphinx Teleia
TOTAL: 29 maximum, 10 minimum (assuming only ONE of the 20 cards destroyed by the DDV was a Monster: Dark Magician Girl). So, unrealistic as it may be, for the purposes of the fic, we'll assume that the other cards destroyed by the DDV were all Magic/Trap cards. Point in fact, in the movie's duel, we saw more monsters than we did Magic and Traps anyway, but a good chunk of Yugi's deck IS devoted to "support cards" like the Sage's Stone, anti-Magic and anti-Trap cards, and similar things. In the movie, we actually saw more Monsters (the "big guns," as I like to call them: the recurring, all-powerful, signature cards that Yugi is known for) than we did smart strategies and clever card combos, anyway.
I probably didn't need to go into as much detail as I did, except I thought that real duelists would have a hissy fit over something as "broken" as Anubis' "card" functioning the way it did, and they'd want to see how he could legitimately summon a creature with such strength. Thus, they found a way. It's still a horribly broken card, even with the restriction against Fusion Monsters and cards being used more than once, but still!
Nitpicking aside...HOLY CRAP! That was simply amazing. There are so many new hints and possible subplots in here I can't keep track. First we have the one sent Anubis to Japan (now more or less confirmed to be Dartz), we also have the stange old lady from the past who spoke with Enkur (with the two different eye colors might she be connected with Dartz), there is also Pegasus's informant who seems to know a great deal about whats going on (my wild guess is the informant is the same person who spoke with Enkur). On top of that we still have Marik's mysterious prophecy which has yet to be fully explained, Tea's odd connection to the past and the BEWD (possibly pulling a Kisara, her defense of Kaiba seems to mirror her sacrifice, and would also explain Kaiba's premonition), and Bakura is still out there. From his conversation with Pegasus I'd say your working towards something in the memory arc (Thief Bakura/Zorc).
Glad to know all those little hints (what some people might deem "excess information") are getting through and making you wonder: that is partially my point. The other part of my point, of course, is to keep building the story, because, after all, real life isn't simply cut and dry. But you did (to use yet another idiom) hit the nail on head several times-- but I won't say how or how right or wrong you may be on some of those points.
So much was hinted at I can't even think of it all. On top of that there is the action sequences which once again are very well portrayed. You continue to illustrate the internal thoughts of characters quite well, I particurally enjoyed Kaiba's constant internal conflicts durring his duel, despite his outward show of confidence. and again, if Anubis hadn't done his thing Kaiba would of won it with Return from the Different Dimension, even Yami would have to admit that.
Part of the reason why I loved the movie so much was that it fit fairly seamlessly into what I'd already planned for the overall story of WDKY (and beyond), and because it worked with the existing relationships between everyone, especially Téa/Kaiba, Kaiba/Yami, and Téa/Yami. I hope I can repeat that same feeling of "action" and the usual dramatic tension/suspense and requisite romance in later chapters.
As usual your work is of such quality that I can barely begin to describe it. I have yet to see one aspect of this project that I could find issue with. You are again, the single greatest writer I have ever come across. No matter how far appart the updates come, you can always count on me to be one of the first to shower you with praise.
Sincerely,
THE UNKNOWN REVIEWER
p.s. - you will notice that I included my E-mail this time. At first I had planned to offer my services as a Beta-reader. But then a thought occured to me, why would I do that. In all honesty I suck at proof-reading anything, even my own work. My only motivation would probably be to get sneak peaks at upcoming chapters and plot twists.
However, another thought then came to mind. You had mentioned in one of your reviewer replies that planning out duels and getting working decks was a weak point of yours. Since that tournament storyline is coming I figured I could offer my services and provide whatever opponents you had planned decent deck idea's and strategies.
I can't profess to be an expert on the subject but if you wish feel free to send me an E-mail.
p.p.s. - man...half of isn't even an actual review...I'm losing my touch
I appreciated every little thing you have to say, and come Chapter 26/27 (I'm not sure how many duels will be in 26, but in 27, there definitely will be), I might just take you up on that offer of strategizing good duels. Thank you again for your review-- I really appreciate the time you take not just to read my fic (even when updates are sparse), but to review so lengthily! Hope to see you again! :)
16forever -- WOW! So I actually did a happy dance around my entire house when I saw this updated! And I know that seemed extremely childish...but this story is one of my favorites, and to have it finally update was almost like miracle!
Not childish at all! I do the same thing whenever any of my favorite authors update-- heck, I do it when I finish a chapter! Why not?
You hinted at so much upcomming stuff I had to stop at each one and let my brain process it a little bit!
Awe-inspiring writing in itself. I can actually see and get a perfectly clear mental picture of what's happning, how each character is feeling, what everybody is thinking and why...all the stuff a great author needs to make a story perfect!
*blush* Aww, gawrsh! WDKY is far from "perfect," but I do appreciate you thinking so highly of it, not to mention taking the time to review. I do try really hard to do just what you described: creating a mental image so that everything is easy to visualize or feel, as if you were right there in the midst of all the action (and adventure, and drama, and romance...).
I must thank-you for writing this story. It has been a great pleasure to read each chapter, and my little cousin and I ((It's so good that when you update I bring her over to the house and read her the next chapter)) are absoutly blown away with all the effort and time you put into writing this. So just Thank-you!
No, THANK YOU (again)! Plus, I'm flattered that you share it with your cousin! Who knew word-of-mouth (like, in-person word-of-mouth, vs. Internet word-of-mouth) could be such a great way of finding about fics? *waves* Hello, cousin of 16forever! Hope you both continue to enjoy the story!
Note: I do not post all reviews that I receive here; only the ones that I feel I should reply to. For all reviews, I do NOT edit them for content/spelling/etc. in any way.
