My jaw is hurting so badly right now, I can't even fit a damn plastic spoon with oatmeal on it into my mouth. It hurts so much, I can't even open it that far. I can hardly talk, and even without moving my jaw at all, it hurts. Not being able to talk is one thing --I'm sure plenty of people would say a day of that would do me good-- but not being able to eat!? Even mushy stuff that I wouldn't normally have unless there was a DAMN good reason or a weird craving behind it? WTF!?

I rescheduled my appointment to remove my wisdom teeth from the 24th to the 17th, which is good, but it doesn't help me now, or within the next week, especially if the pain gets worse. To top it off, Grandpa wasn't feeling well himself today, so he's at the doctor's now-- even if I wanted to go home, I'd have no ride and I'd have to walk. Okay, no big deal, but the medicine I want that would make me feel better (the narcotic) is something he doesn't want to give me anymore (it's not like I'm addicted; it just works better than this other stuff he gave me).

Fuck fuck fuck.

Umm...don't know if this will help or anything, but I wound up being allergic to vicodin after they removed my wisdom teeth, so my doctor-friend-type-person told me to just take 600+ grams of over-the-counter IB Profen. Because, basically, you can't OD on it, and the over-the-counter stuff is the same as the prescription, just in smaller doses. And it reduces swelling, which is very win-win in the wisdom teeth thing.

What happened with your jaw? I thought the wisdom teeth wasn't until next week? Did you get into a fist fight at the local bar?

I just had mine out today. And I really can't give much advice, because apparently I'm doing like 20 billion times better than my mum and my bro ever did (as my dad put it, they were basket-cases) when they had it done. XD So apparently reactions could be all over the place.

So srsly, major sorry about the jaw thing. O.o Seeing as you won't be able to move it worth a damn for hours after your teeth are out...well. Hopefully you'll be back to normal before then, else you might want to hold it off 'til whatever it is gets cleared up. Don't want more pain than you're already in for.

I've had all 4 of them taken out at once back during the summer of freshman year... best I can say is that you're gonna have ot et into a couch-potato mode...

I had to change guazes in my jaw and steady myself on a diet of mush n liquids... but it was for a good 2 weeks ^^; No pain medication, just salt-water to sterlize the wounds now n then.

My diet consisted sole of:
* Broth (of any type, chicken, beef, vegtable..etc
* Jello (only after pulverizing it into a unrecognizable brainy slush)
* Water
* Tea with a small touch of sugar

THey probably gave you a syringe to rinse out the wounds I rekon... I rarely used the damn thing XD.

Main thing that helped me alot though, is sitting home and letting the time go by with ALOT of video games... soo, curl up to that RPG ya got sitting in the dust someplace and just play through the damn thing... msot lilely by the time you do finish it, you'll be healed.. if not almost healed.

From the above posts, I actually had the same case as yours... well almost similar.

I had a slight case of gingivitis, and it originated from the partuially impacted tooth(the tooth sticking out at a horoxontal angle). They put me uner a IV-fed anasthetic and worked on me.. suppisdly i could feel the sawing and the hammering as they took the tooth out in sections.

I probably had the teeth pretty far into the jawline, thusthe need of the guaze. Ah, and yes, I do recall *some* medication for the effect... I think it was codien syrup... as I distinctly remember the green-coconut-like elixer that I'd have to wash down with water OFTEN.

And by jello, yes, I do mean the jiggly see-thru stuff. My folks at the time were damn supersticious about eating anything that had bits that could get caught inside the wounds. ^^;

Most cases they put in a few suitures (stiches) and that's that.

Now tis a pity none catches a pic of you in your chipmunk cheeks XD.
