I'm so over it.
Jul. 27th, 2006 12:29 amBaba and Grandpa wanted me to go Anonymous or use a sockpuppet account to defend myself or bash the wankers who bashed me, but I'm not going to waste the time or energy. I'm over it already.
GMail is acting funny. Searches take forever, and I'm getting timeout errors when I try to access my email with Thunderbird. Any other GMailers having issues? Maybe it's just my connection?
Scott shared something cool with me re: Pirates of the Caribbean. But I suppose there are some spoilers so so here's your first and only warning.
In the fictional realm of Pirates of the Caribbean, Captain Jack's real name was Jack Smith and he was born in India on October 25. Captain Jack Sparrow commands the legendary and accursed ship named the Black Pearl. Thanks to the official Disney website and the game based on the film series, one can find that Jack Sparrow was at one point employed by the East India Trading Company. He helmed the Wicked Wench, an EITC merchant vessel, performing odd jobs for Lord Cutler Beckett. However, after refusing to transport slaves, Beckett sanctioned the torching (and sinking) of the Wicked Wench, and branded Jack Sparrow a pirate. Jack came to embrace his outlaw status and became a very successful pirate, with no desire to return to life under the command of others. Later, Jack petitioned Davy Jones to retrieve his ship that he rechristened as "The Black Pearl." From the number of his exploits and limited knowledge of his pre-pirate existence, one can assume that for the majority of his adult life, Jack devoted himself to pirating and spent relatively little time operating legitimately.
That actually makes a lot of sense, and I imagine if it already was in the games, they'd find a way to tie it into the final movie. It's quite cool, too, and it makes Jack just a bit more of a hero than I was willing to give him credit for. (After DMC, I didn't like him as much as I used to.)
When updating
weekly_ygo to the newest edition, I could only go 167 entries back on the Friends' page, no further. I tried going into the Customization options and changing the number of entries displayed to 100, but I guess it reverted to a default maximum of 50, and it wouldn't let me go past 167 even when I manually entered the number (?skip=180) in the URL. What the heck? Sorry if I miss any entries or anything, but I don't know what happened. :P Any ideas on how to fix it?
Uh... yup. I think I'm going to finally see Superman this weekend. But probably alone, unless Grandpa (and Baba???) want to come with me.
Dad's coming down in 2 weeks, and he's being nice to me again.
My room's still a mess though, and I need a better bookcase than this cardboard thing Debbie "sold" to me.
:) I love my friends.
