I had a dream about the Power Rangers this morning (I went to bed after 2am. Bad Mer, bad!). Not the Zeo, or the Ninjas, or whatever the hell the newbies call themselves-- I mean the originals. Tommy was there (though for some reason there was both a White Ranger and a Green Ranger, and one of them -I forget which- had this stupid puffy, metallic-skirt thing on), as was Jason (zOMG the rivalry!), Kimberley (the Pink Ranger) and Zack, but Billy (the Blue Ranger) and Trini (the Yellow Ranger) were both gone. Billy was either famous and late, deadbeat and missing, or just plain mysteriously gone. And everyone knew Trini was dead, even though that's what happened to the actress, and not the character.

The fact that I can remember all their names and colors kind of scares me.

It was like a reunion episode or something weird; they just didn't look much older. And those two "bumbling idiots" (Biff? Griff? No, they're from Back to the Future) were there too. And there was pie, but what role it played, I do not know.

And I haven't seen/read/watched/encountered MMPR in the LONGEST time, so why the heck am I dreaming of it now?

Moving on-- had advisement today, and I think Prof. Bowen (in charge of Magazine Journalism majors) screwed up my advisement slip somehow. I have completed 40 units SO FAR, and assuming I pass all my classes this semester and get my 15 units worth, that will be 55 units completed by the end of December. But for some reason, she put "40" in the "Units Completed As of the End of Fall/05" and now I'm all gwuh?

There's also the matter of how many Journalism classes I have left to take. There are 18 core units for all Journalism majors, plus 19 concentration-specific units. The grand total is 37, right? And of those 37, I have taken 11 units toward Journalism so far (including classes this semester): Mass Communication (3 units); Writing, Reporting & Ethics I (3); Writing Reporting & Ethics II (3); and Visual Communication (2). Thus, I should have only 26 more units left to take in Journalism, right?

Those classes are:
* Women, Men, & The Media (3)
* Writing, Reporting, & Ethics III (3)
* Editing (2)
* Graphics (2)
* Newspaper Practicum (2)
* Investigative Reporting (3)
* Electives in Journalism (4)
* Mass Communication Law & Ethics (3)
* Tutorial (1)
* Magazine Journalism (3)

So why did Prof. Bowen say I have 31 more units left to take?

There's also that annoying 80/65 rule: Out of the 120+ units I'm required to have to get a BA, 80 of those units have to be taken outside of Journalism/Mass Communication, and at least 65 of those 80 must be in the liberal arts/sciences/humanities. According to Bowen, I've taken 46 units outside of Journalism, and 35 of them are liberal arts. That means I have 11 units that are NOT Liberal Arts, and those are most likely:
* Math Ideas (3)
* Ballet I (1)
* Introduction to Computer Graphics Tools (3)
* Introduction to Japanese (4)

Admittedly, I would have thought Japanese, my only 4 unit class, would be in the Humanities department, but maybe I'm wrong.

Assuming Bowen is right on this one point and I have 35 units of some liberal studies and such left to take, I'm never sure which courses can count for this requirement as well as, say General Ed, Upper Division, my major, or my minor. X_X I'm still confused.

I know that next semester (Spring 06) I'll be taking:
* Women, Men & The Media (3)
* Graphics (2)
* Writing, Reporting, & Ethics III (3)
Which totals 8 units, leaving me with another 4 minimum, 7 optimum, and 11 maximum units left to take. I still have (unfortunately) at least 18 units until I'm officially done with all my GEs and 100% safely in the "Upper Division Standing" mode. Those classes are:
* Introduction to Biology/Lab (4)
* Ecology (2)
* Feminist Ethics (3)
* Women & Urban Life OR California Geography (3)
* Greece & Rome as Gateways to Western Civilization (3)
* Modern Japanese Culture (3)
So no matter what the heck I do, I can't take that many classes next semester. I won't be able to take Journalism classes if I study abroad (assuming I get my first choice of Waseda University), so I want to take as many as I can in Spring, as opposed to trying to take them during the Winter at a community college.

So I applied to Pierce College just now, though like the Tseng College of Extended Learning/Open University here at CSUN, there's no class listing just yet. Argh... I'm impatient! ;_;

Yikes, lost track of time again... gotta go to class!

*YAWN* I'm tired...
