Okay, it's only a brush fire, and anyone with any sense of propriety probably won't miss the areas getting burned (only 2-3 houses so far, from what I've heard), but there's smoke covering up what was once a completely blue sky; the sun was dark and then bright red and then glaring orange in less than 10 minutes, and they evacuated campus because of the poor smoke conditions.
I'm glad I got off work early; I'm just so sick of this summer, of August and September especially, of people who bother me whose names start with K (but ironically, this is NOT the same K as before; this is Ks, who I always got along with before... but she felt the need to be bossy and tell me what to do when she had no place nor reason to and on top of that I'm SICK and on my fucking period, so I don't feel like taking shit from anyone, least of all HER)... just of Jamba and its sucky atmosphere.
I know I'm not guaranteed the Red Robin job, but I'd like to be more optimistic than that. So pray for me, okay?
In the meantime, I still hate being sick, on my period, and in an area where the littlest bit of ash floating from 5 miles away gets me watery-eyed and hacking like a lung cancer victim.
Scott was nice enough to give me a call after I TMd him with the evacuation warning... but alas, he's a Scorpio, and a stubborn boy if I've ever dealt with one, so he's going back to the photo lab. He has a good point when he says there's not much difference between his apartment and school in terms of air conditions and safety, but at least at school he can get stuff done. Having come from San Diego and experienced the Simi Valley brush fire 2 years ago, this is pretty routine for Scott, I guess. Nonetheless, I've felt so incredibly lonely and moody lately (especially today with Ks yelling at me the way she did) that I just wanted to spend time with someone for a while. Baba and Grandpa are leaving for Seattle/Rosh Hashannah way early Saturday morning; I have the Clubs Conference all day that day, and then finally, some off time on Sunday (Eva, still coming over? Please say yes!). Then I have almost five days entirely to myself, assuming Scott doesn't stay over for a few (which I hope he does ^_~).
Oh yeah, and I called Dave during lunch today-- the guy picked up his phone, was prompt, answered all my questions... and he's sending my PS2 back to me today (which would have been EARLIER today, as post offices are closed by now) or tomorrow. Turns out the lens was scratching against DVD-Rs. It plays normal PS2 games (including imports) just fine, and CDs and CD-Rs (like my music, PSX games, and "backups" of older games I either broke or borrowed). I don't have nor intend to get any DVD-R burns, so I don't think this'll be a problem. I'm glad I got the whole issue cleared up, anyhow.
*stabbity stab stab* Ouch, a harsh review! But it's not a flame... I don't think... I can't say I enjoyed this chapter as much as the others. In fact, it was pretty boring and uninteresting compared to the rest of the other chapters.
First, I'm happy to see the friendship between Joey and Kaiba is growing stronger. It's a huge turn on point for them being friends in this story, since most times in fics, it is OOC for them to be friends, but not in your fic. In your fic, it's okay because you've planned it all out.
Second, I sort of thought it was in character for Tea to be jealous, even though I didn't like it. I could understand why. I mean, even I'd be jealous if something like that happened to me. And I'm sure I'd handle it a lot worse than she did, and would've voiced my opinion instead of keeping it to myself like she did.
Third, I thought the fact that a famous race car driver hit Seto Kaiba was very interesting because race car drivers are cool. I know one. She's a nice lady.
Fourth, I was disappointed by the lack of Joey/Mai romance in this chapter. Heck, I was disappointed by the lack of Mai's and Serenity's, Bakura's and Malik's appearances being absent. Your story is good, but it's focusing on not just Tea, but the background characters as well that makes it to much better. And I appreciate the story even more when Joey and Mai get a little more spotlight :)
Fifth, I'm very sorry to hear that your friend died. I hope you're doing better now since you've had a bit of time to recover, but I know these kinds of things don't just suddenly disappear. It takes a while.
Anyways, try to include the other characters a bit more like I mentioned a bit earlier. Or... Just some more action or the like. Because this chapter was really, really boring. And update soon so the story can actually get to these parts!
I'd like to state for the record that the story is primarily Azureshipping. At least, that's how I intended to start it. There are SEVERALtriangles polygons of doom in there, namely Yugi x Téa x Seto, Yami no Yuugi x Téa x Seto, Mokuba x Téa x Seto (Faultshipping), Bakura x Téa x Seto, Joey x Téa x Seto... ^^ Hee, I could go on. There are more. :P
But I wanted to make sure that people realized that since it wasn't a Téa or Seto-POV fic, there would be perspectives and relationships of others on the side. I wanted to "go deeper" with the characters I already enjoy: namely Mai, Serenity, and even Isis, but also the bad?guys like Bakura and Malik. As I continued to watch the anime dub more, I came up with further ideas, on how to integrate the current season with the story. It required a lot of changes here and there, and much plot tweaking...
The story is about Seto and Téa. That won't change. Essentially, it is Téa's story, but also Seto's, Mokuba's, Yuugi's... I like to work in some Duke x Serenity x Tristan in there, just because I can't really decide who would "win" her, if either of them at all. I like to work in Joey and Mai, because theirs would be just a tumultuous relationship as Seto and Téa, if not moreso.
But... none of them are the main or focus characters. I can't let them get too much time in the limelight, or it stops being Téa's story. So where it fits and where it affects the plot, I'll work those other characters and subplots in, but honestly-- just the point the story is at, things are STARTING to heat up. Think of WDKY as that giant pot of water that's JUST beginning to boil.
As for the questionable appearances like Dartz (whom all of you seem to think is coming even though I haven't said a single solid "YES" in either direction), you have to realize-- the world I write fic for is not the world you see on your television, or read in the manga. Time passes slowly. Villains plot. Bad guys hide out and escape. Good guys have their own inner torment and difficulties, and there's conflict at every turn, whether it's in the form of a new student, a rival in class, an evil spirit, or a personal phobia.
It's not that I like to force "all" the action or drama into a single chapter; I have planned everything out to happen a certain way, at a certain time. Are you aware that each chapter actually encompasses specific calendar days? I make it a point to mention them when I can, and if you're armed with deductive reasoning, you can even figure out "when" WDKY takes place. (Hint: They're back in time.) I don't intend for some chapters to be boring or plain; they're ALL necessary reads in some form or fashion, building up something, even if you don't know/can't see what. Just remember to read, re-read, keep your eyes peeled, and review.
Watch out, it's gonna get HOT HOT HOT!
P.S. I do appreciate the reviewer mentioning Ben. No one else noticed that. I wasn't extremely bothered by it, since I don't ask people to feel sorry for me or offer their sympathies, but I like it when people notice the little things. It makes me feel like I don't just type out all that stuff on top for my own benefit. And I was thinking about Ben today, so just seeing someone else think of him --even if they didn't know him-- made me feel better.
