Funny how I've only seen about two movies in the past month or so, but the previews I've seen of Tim Burton's next flick, The Corpse Bride are enough to want me to dress up as her for Halloween. It would be better than an Emmy Award, at any rate. :P That was my most under-appreciated costume ever. But, I also have angel wings, cat ears, fishnets, glow-in-the-dark lipstick, bright red lipstick, and a mom who still has everything else Halloween-y stashed away, neatly organized and ready to ship. :>

I had a nightmare last night... sucks. I dreamed that I finally got myself this cute kitten-- it looked like Bloop, my dad's old cat (the one that passed away earlier this year). Bloop was this sleek, dark grey with bright blue eyes. I always wanted a cute cat like that. Well, I dreamed I took it home and everything, and then I went out again... and when I came home and went to "my room" (for some reason, my room was the larger one overlooking the backyard, the room I wanted originally. The catch is a) it's next to Baba and Grandpa's room and b) it's got all of Baba's creepy dolls in there) and went to my backpack on the floor.

I promptly started freaking out, because I'd forgotten to take the cat out of the top pouch of my backpack, and now it wasn't moving at all. (Bear in mind that I would never do something this stupid.) When I opened up the top pouch, I took the kitten out-- it was about the size of my hand, and completely deflated. Imagine a flattened cat-- no bones, no organs, just a FLAT CAT. I was devastated.

I woke up several times after that feeling downright rotten with myself, even though I told myself if something like that ever happened, a cat could easily claw its way through my puny backpack, and would be yowling and hissing in the meantime. Not to mention cats don't just deflate.

Well, I don't know what it means, and I don't particularly care to revisit the dream to find out. As we're finally getting closer and closer to school starting, I'm getting a lot done and a lot planned. I have work from 1:30-6:45 today, then I'll hang out with Jill and Co. plus Kara, my aunt who came all the way here from New York (she drove). Sometime eventually I want to finish cleaning up my desk, throwing out clothes that don't fit, working on WDKY18 (*sings* Mamono~!) and CO7-2+, getting Delishidoodle to go live, and posting my 100 SxA icons. *whew!*

AND on top of all that, I want to get WikiFic really going, even if (ALAS!) I am the only one posting articles there. -_- I don't get it, I pimped it here on LJ (various YGO communities) and now on FFnet... hardly any response. *scowl* Why does WikiPedia have such a large Yu-Gi-Oh section (wrong, mind you... Yugi was never the holder of the Millennium Ring...)

It's already 12:30, which gives me 1 hour before I have to be at work. Maybe I'll get some cleaning or something done before I go.

Here's the thing about laptops for school-- you think you want the big-screen whatever but...that adds like 5 pounds to the overall weight and then your shoulders hurt you. Best thing is to get the smallest available (12") and upgrade the components when you buy it (like cd >> cd burner/dvd player, up the RAM, up the hd space). But trust me-- smallest laptop you can get, thinest, lightest. I learned my lesson. ;_;

I got a $3000 Sony Vaio and I don't use that machine at all...@_@ I mean if you live at home, then I wouldn't bother spending your money babe since you already have a desktop. Paper and pen works just as well if not better for lecture notes.

That *is* what I was thinking... except that 1) I'd want something that I could tweak post-college (yeek, thinking too far ahead?) and take with me when I travel (which I plan to do a lot). And I go to places with Wi-Fi, and I'd love to be able to do what I always do (webdesign, post at LJ, chat) from anywhere with a 'Net connection.

Frankly, this desktop computer is hard to take care of, and I always have to give it up whenever visitors come over (which is rare, but still). I think having a laptop as my primary and THIS as my secondary would also mean I could spend more time out of doors (cafes, study hall) or even just in my room. :P You know, put my desk to good use. (I mean, it's either a laptop or another trip somewhere.)

Laptop has some good numbers but for a good price.
If youre just going to use it for typing up stuff, surfing the web and so on, i would NOT recommend this b/c... well, youre getting a lot of shit that youre not going to be able to fully use (i.e., those specs are moreso for gaming).

Now, if you want to save a ton of cash, and still get something thats you'll be able to use flawlessly, i HIGHLY recommend going to www.retrobox.com - go to the laptop section and input what you want/need.
They buy used parts/computers/etc from companies that have since upgraded.

I had been eyeing this 800mhz laptop, 256mb ram, 20gb hdd, etc for $220
Now... $220 for something that will be just as useful as a laptop that costs $1500. You make the decision ;)

Then again, if you got the cash to blow, go ahead :D lol. Always nice having something brand-spankin new :)

Well, I did see the ad for the Battalion in PC Gamer, so it makes sense that it's a gaming-set computer. Truth is, I don't do much hardcore gaming, but I would be using it for the 'Net (surfing, downloading, LJing), graphic design (Photoshop), web page design (Dreamweaver MX), student-stuff (MS Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint) and the occasional oddball thing (Yu-Gi-Oh online, IMing).

Now maybe it's just me, but isn't more RAM better? I have 512 MB on this Dell I'm on right now, and even then it seems slow at times. And considering My Documents is upwards of several gigs, NOT including my music/videos folder, I'm prone to a 60GB HD, or thereabouts.

As a goofy person with money to blow (eheh) I wanted NO external accessories-- everything internal. Is it even possible to get stuff like that and still have a relatively lightweight laptop? (What is "lightweight" anyway?) And I know my choices are slimmed down even further if I wanted a color cover (a cover is what it's called, right?).

My mom's computer was something she got off Home Shopping Network. I don't want to make that mistake. I want the works in terms of good functionality, tech support, and stuff. Much as I know about a computer, there's only so much I can do when it's not turn-on-able. ^^; I've never been the type to get up-close-and-personal with wires, soldering irons, or things like that. *scared*

I'm at this RetroBox place, and it looks interesting, though I would want something without glaring "screen abrasions" and the like. Buying an OS or the software I want is no skin off my nose, but it sounds like they don't come with sound cards or network adapters? O_O

Also, what is CDEB or DVDEB? (And do you know the difference between DVD+RW and DVD-RW, and the DVD+/-RW?)

More memory in theory is better... anything more than 512, and you better be doing some hardcore work that requires a shitload of processing and so on.
In your case, just stick to a laptop like you found... specially if youre not computer savvy :P

DVD+-... - is the old standard, works on anything and everything. + is a newer standard that wont work on older dvd players/dvdrom drives for compuuters.

XP sucks in general- stick to win2K (comming from someone who used to swoon over XP corporate... god, i've soo changed my mind now).
If your computer is slow with 512mb of ram... somethings wrong with the OS, lol ^^;

Okay, so I think I can run off 512 MB and 40 GB HD... I'd want a DVD+/-RW, just in case. But I found this deal where the comp can come pre-installed with Home, and I can get Office 2003 Professional and Windows XP Pro bundled for about $289-- a very good deal considering they sell Office 2003 Pro for a dollar less than that, WITHOUT the XP Upgrade to Pro. >_> So what's wrong with XP vs. 2K, anyway? I'm wary about using older stuff, and I have major compatibility issues... is it a matter of stability or something? I haven't had too many problems with XP Home (here) or Pro (what I had in SF).

And I think this comp was slow with 512 MB of Ram because I had the 60 GB HD filled up practically to the brim. ^^;
