This one was too good to pass up. Here's a snippet from Chapter 2 of TLC-
Seto rolled his eyes, "Since when do you understand the language of cats?"

"Since now," Mokuba responded, sniffing haughtily. He glanced out of the corner of his eye, a smile curving the corners of his lips up as he watched his brother stare at the kitten.

"How do you know it's even a boy?" Seto asked, bending down to look at the thing tucked away in Mokuba's arms.

The younger boy turned to look at his older brother, uncertainty plain on his face.

"Well, I... Uhm... Could you check?"

Wordlessly, Seto plucked the cat from Mokuba's arms, holding it underneath its forepaws. Hind legs dangling in the air, the kitten couldn't have looked more bewildered-- until Seto Kaiba turned it so he could get a good luck at what was behind its tail.

Struggling with all its might, the kitten batted at Seto with its paws until finally, it got a hit, and swiped claws across Seto's nose.

"Meow~!" it yowled angrily, upset that its privacy was about to be violated.

"Ow!" Seto exclaimed, dropping the cat. It landed neatly on its feet, hardly wasting a second to stare at him. He shot the thing an angry look, but it only glared right back at him.

"Stupid, immature cat," Seto grumbled under his breath, fixing Mokuba with a flat expression, "It's a girl."

That was WAAAAY more than a "first line," but oh well. :)

He had to think pretty hard on this one. That in itself was unusual, because Seto Kaiba didn't often have to think very hard about anything. He WAS a genius for a reason, after all.

Eyebrows shot up in surprise.
"You serious?"
"That's another question- wait until it's your turn again. My turn, now..."

If one thing could be said of Alfred Pennyworth, it was that he never appeared stressed-- even when his employer, the enigmatic Bruce Wayne, stood dripping wet all over the cherry hardwood floors, clutching a towel to his waist, and holding his hand out in expectation. At last, Alfred found what his employer wanted before finishing his bath. A rubber ducky.

"Thank you, Alfred," was all Bruce said, and then he stalked off, the rubber duck squeaking in his hand.
