Okay, so it DOES turn out that the girl I originally nicknamed "Snotty" has been fired. But you know, I did get along with her on that last day of work that I saw her... and though no one told me flat out "Oh yeah So-and-so was fired, all of her work times have been crossed out and given to someone else. Considering everything the managers asked me (plus the customer complaints she got), I'm not surprised. I just hope her getting fired gets the message out to the other dumbshits who keep messing around "catching ice" and throwing things at me.
I'm also writing bucketloads for WDKY17 --and getting ready to work more on my 30kisses, plus a few ideas for 20themes/Yu-Gi-Oh. I should make a Seto/Anzu specific set of 20themes, ne? But didn't
guardian_kysra do something like that for me a while back? I have to search my email...
Character decks and dueling always get my goat whenever it comes to fics. It's why Prophecy Girl is so hard to write. But now, it's WDKY, and I'm afraid... but I've already shown Mamono and Kysra part of 17, so with their badgering and my own conscience, I refuse to let WDKY become one of my "eventually-updatables." I've got to figure out a deck for Téa. But as I've said time and time again, WDKY is about growth and change.
The Téa that knew next to nothing about Duel Monsters used a Fairy deck... but whether it really would have won her any duels is unknown. She used a lot of basic, low-level monsters... and Mai surrendered. I don't want her to use that deck.
The Téa that had a bit more sense and attitude used a feminine version of Yuugi's deck-- a Spellcaster deck, with Dark Magician Girl/Sage's Stone as a centerpiece combo, and other Spellcasters like the Flame Sorcerer to back her up. But (1) the Noah's world virtual world arc never happened in WDKY and (2) even if Téa would have constructed that deck at one time, she's grown apart from the Spellcaster-style-- it's leeching directly off Yugi, and Téa is all about finding her "true self." I can see her fusing bits and pieces from all her friends' decks and dueling styles to find her "own," but that doesn't necessarily mean it's got to be some fairy/girly deck. I highly admire Mai and Isis's dueling styles as well-- but Téa's seen first hand how Isis's deck can be stopped, and Mai's got the "girl-power" deck under control, what with her Amazons and Harpies.
So... I'm not sure what to do. I'm tempted to throw in Kaibaman just because I can, and since it's a fic, I'm willing to use cards that don't exist in the real TCG (though I'd prefer if they do! English more than Japanese, but so long as I get a decent translation, who cares!?) or cards that are rare/impossible-to-get nowadays.
Anyway, I've been in a gaming mood lately. Since Scott's not going to get off work for another half-hour, I figure I'll Duel a few times, and then move on to Chapter 3 of "Another Story," which I've taken to playing again. Just yesterday while in Venus's chapter, I ended up drawing Verna and Radina (from Sariel and Zagzen, respectively). They're such minor characters that no one else knows, but if I ever get around to writing that Another Story fic, they might actually have a section of their own... I've also drawn Apsu, and DAMN! I made her look good. All this fanart lying around ... me with a scanner and PSCS ... I have to update my DeviantArt account. :P

Date: 2005-06-25 09:52 am (UTC)The thing is, the decks represent the duelist. You'll have to find the duelist Téa is most like the most and use that as a basis. Or you can go to a card site and check out the pre-made decks that they suggest you can use.

Date: 2005-06-25 03:20 pm (UTC)^^: I'll look through my cards today and see if I can't help you with the deck dilemma. *nod* I have a few ideas, but not sure how well they'd work yet... Needed is more time.
As for WDKY-- I read the chunk you sent me and loved it. It seemed to go 'faster' for me than your normal chapters, but in this instance, I liked that. It didn't make things bog down. The only things I could say to watch for is in the beginning you get a little repetitive with the whole 'Seto had dreams before, but not nightmares liket his'.
Watch, too, for some of your extra long sentences. They --could-- be broken up into more than one, but they don't *have* to. ^^; Which is why I won't point out any examples, it's just something I noticed in general.
Otherwise-- good! *thumbs up*
