*blink* Man, I'm out of it. I've seriously slept most of today. I technically woke up at 8am, fell back asleep and woke up again around 11am, had breakfast and stuff... Scott left shortly thereafter (oh yeah, he stayed over. Erin's over too, studying for her midterm, and I actually had to have Erin tell Baba and Grandpa that it was okay for me and Scott to share a room. I don't get the logic behind that, but whatever)... Did I mention Scott was surprisingly sweet and romantic (up until he pretty much hard-critiqued my cooking. You know, I USED to be good at making pancakes, but now... -_- I've learned my lesson: Never cook for Scott.
Anyway, I just conked out in the den after that-- and now it's almost 5pm (or it was when I first typed this sentence)! O_O I've been sleeping all day, yeesh. No Jo-Ann's or Michael's craft stores for me-- their sales are this COMING week. What pisses me off is that all the things Baba and I bought at Jo-Ann's last week are now on sale for cheaper! -_- Well, on the plus side, that means I can go back and get MORE for CHEAPER. Whee, crafty-side, here I come!
So I'm getting a fair number of reviews for DAA, despite it being R-rated, character-death-centric, and pretty angsty up to this point. The interesting thing I'd like to note is that several people who reviewed thought that I'd bring Téa back-- to either Battle City, Noah's VR World, or some place other than Duelist Kingdom. So people are enjoying my plot-twists as of yet? It'll only get more interesting from here on out. *grin*
But let me warn you all-- don't try to make predictions, I will circumvent them just because:
a) I can
b) I planned to in the first place
c) I'm evil (I have a note from Mamono saying so. You can't deny it! Bwaha!)
Oh, and I need help with something many of you may consider unimportant (as of right now, with all of my unfinished fics... be prepared for a monumental spoiler here, people. I'm feeling nice today):
How long should the sequel to WDKY, 'Circle of Seven' be? It's got to be at least 5 chapters (probably a lot more than that), but I'm hoping for LESS than WDKY's 36. Any ideas? Right now I have at least 5 definitely-slated chapters, including an honest-to-god Epilogue. But what about fillers? Give me some ideas here, people.
Also, does anyone know of a good site chock-full of Photoshop (-7) tutorials? I'm looking for one specifically that I stumbled on a long time ago, but I can't remember what to call the effect, let alone the website where I found it. It's sort of like a bubbles (or circles), but they progressively get smaller, and they're all connected to one another. I did a tutorial like that once, but it doesn't seem to be in my bookmarks. Tasukete, onegai shimasu! I'll see if I can find a printed example to scan, then I can post it up here. The only things I can think of to describe it are:
* Modern (you see it on a lot of bags and in BGs. I remember a Nike bag with it on there, I think)
* Splotches, Ink Blobs (that's kind of what they remind me of)
* Bubbles (they are perfect circles, though)
* Screentones (I looked, but I didn't find one like I'm thinking of)
...And, there was more to this entry, but LJ and Semagic both ate it. Meh.

Date: 2004-11-08 05:44 am (UTC)The first Sarah B. song I heard was actually at my grandmother's funeral-- "Con te Partiro," I think, or "Time to Say Goodbye." (Creepy, but still a great song)

Date: 2004-11-08 06:29 pm (UTC)Or because it's never his moms.
Food should be cooked with love and it should be cooked for pleasure. Anything cooked with necessity or presentation in mind never turns out well. Anything cooked well should be cooked alone but with company. The best cake I ever made, I made while my mom was having a card party. I was cooking by myself, but having company in the room made it warm. It was a yellow feel, if that makes any sense.
Cooking isn't about the flavour of the food in the end anyway. Goodness knows I've had dinners with lumpy pasta sauce, and burned bottoms, and steak that won't cook through. Marinades that soaked in a little too much or not quite enough. It's a single error. Food is malleable.
The thing with a sit down dinner is the thought of conversation. The idea of communing together, and when everyone eats the same thing, there comes a sense of sharing. I think that's what I like about food, or feeding people. The idea that it's not the food, but the act of sharing food.
So even if he doesn't like onions I still get to share a table with him. In the long run, it matters very little, and I can always add the onions later.
It's almost a relief sometimes to know that nothing is ever perfect.
The last time he picked at his plate I made him cook for himself. "I don't know what you do and don't like. I cook the way I cook. Make the best of it why don't you or next time I won't make you anything."
I'm sorry. I'm in a very strange mood at the moment. Just . . . ah. I should learn to just keep quiet.
But I won't. C'est la vie. *L*
