Argh, I hate this computer I'm on! It was fine at first... but I should have known better than to trust a stupid Holiday Inn computer with craptacular security privileges and even lousier hardware. So this is my post-wedding entry, redux.

I'm at the Internet Center at the Holiday Inn in Rockville Center, Long Island, New York. The flight here was much nicer than the one to Phoenix, since the plane was much larger, with 3 seats on both sides, all of them nice and PLUSH. Too bad I got the aisle seat-- never a nice place to be when you want to sleep (no one or nothing to lean on) or stretch. The flip side is that I got a relatively good view of the TV screens-- the in-flight movie was "The Stepford Wives," and though I'd seen it before, questions again arose...

Original or not, I have some queries. Maybe it differs depending on the version, but what was up with the wives, exactly? Were they full-on robots, or enhanced women, or what?

Wife A (Faith Hill) spun out of control, and had sparks coming from her ears. Later on, she was having faboo sex with her husband, and could be controlled with a golf club-like controller-- everything from how fast she moved to how big her boobs were, all at the touch of a button.

Wife B (Bette Midler) had a spinning whisk coming out of her forefinger. Nicole Kidman too, when she was "perfectized," was a bit suspicious. Yet she was never a robot... they only showed her, in front of an android-likeness of her. Which leads me to wonder whether the women were really turned into cyborgs. It was revealed towards the end of the movie that Walter (Matt Broderick) couldn't go through with the change, and that Nicole was never a robot. But then, where'd she get the wig? (Was I the only one who noticed that none of the "perfect" wives had brown or black hair? Grr!) The only true robot was James Woods, right? Help me out here, I'm lost.

Mom and Gary picked me up from JFK around 5:30am yesterday, but I had to go get my Smuggler, since it had to be checked. I was worried at first that it might be in Phoenix, or worse, some place like Nanook. But after a while, I saw it coming down the conveyer, and I gave chase. Good thing 2 nice guys helped me get it. ^_^ Even if NY is "tougher" than CA, people are still nice.

We went to a diner, but since I was still from my pizza, I just had some milk. The moment we got to the Holiday Inn, Mom got me checked in, and I conked out for the rest of the day-- till around 2pm, about. Cool thing about my room-- I have this ConAir (they make more than hairdryers!) radio that has these sleep therapy sounds. They range from the creepy (heartbeat) to the laughable (ocean waves, waterfall. You can even mix them together. I ended up choosing Stream and Summer Night for mine last night.

Someone must have tugged too hard --or CHEWED through-- my TV cable though, as I had shitty reception for most of my channels. Mom made a temporary fix, so I was able to watch Yu-Gi-Oh both yesterday and this morning, which rocked-- I got to see the season's final two episodes. So now we know for a fact that:
a) next Saturday's season premiere is the start of the DOOM organization arc
b) the toys released by Mattel this October will be the Atlantian Duel Disks and figurines
c) the DVDs coming out will be of the inbetween seasons (KC Grand Prix and the original seasons, uncut).

I had a quesedilla down at the restaurant while Mom and Gary went to the beach; later on, we went to the bar and met up with the Irish groomsmen (still hard to understand, but not so bad) and other members from the parties. There was even a karaoke night-- one person named Amy (who was apparently not part of the wedding party) sang these lousy songs, but people were good natured enough to not care.

I also talked to Mike earlier-- basically, the plan is that if the reception ends before 11:30pm tonight, I can head to Penn Station and meet Mike in New Brunswick or something. The problem is figuring out if Mom's hanging onto the rental car when she and Gary head to the Essex House Westin in Manhattan tomorrow morning. Hrm, something to consider for later.

The conversation with Mike, sadly, was predictable. He hasn't changed at all, which is a disappointment. I mean, he is the epitome of what many girls stereotype guys as-- sex-crazed maniacs. He's still a cool guys-- very funny and great to hang around, but... well, bluntly, I don't like him that way anymore. Not romantically, not sexually. He's just a kinda-quirky friend I have.

I was telling him I'd feel bad about ditching out on my mom when she was paying for the hotel room, so going to New Jersey last night would not have been an option. Long Island is *not* close to NJ. I mentioned how I have this cool two bed room to myself, and he says what's stopping him from coming over and having his way with me. His words.

*sigh* I didn't tell him about Scott, among the many other reasons I'd have from "withdrawing" from his "advances," or whatever you'd call them. I know I don't have tact, and I do have a big mouth, so these make a lethal combination when I try to gently explain anything to anyone. It's the truth. Mike wants an easy lay, and I don't want to be that person. I do, however, want to see him, meet his friends, have some delish food, party, and have him mix me a few tasty drinks. I do NOT intend to get wasted or fucked up in any size, shape, or form. Literally or otherwise.

So I'm still hoping to go to Jersey and meet up with Mike tomorrow, but I felt bad about that conversation with Mike, since I babbled without really saying anything of importance. Plus, Dave's in town, and he's funny and smart-- twice the Cooper fun to hang around. I suppose what it gets down to is: Mer does not want to get laid. She's on her period, so please do NOT make her angry. Thank you. :)

I finally headed off to sleep around 12am, but I couldn't sleep at first. I checked out the TV services-- crappy SNES games ($6.95/hr), okay movies (I wanted to see Troy, but it was $11.95! I could see it on IMAX, or rent the DVD --and then some!--for that much!). I gave up and slept.

I woke up a few minutes after 10am-- but damn the Eastern time zone-- I had to sit through an hour of Pokémon before Yu-Gi-Oh. Why did I ever like that show? Oh yeah-- MISTY. But the repetitive plots-- gym battle, save Pikachu, beat Team Rocket... well, despite the inevitable hoards of badfic, I bet plenty of fics are better than the actual show. ^^;; That's saying something. Finally, the season finale of YGO! I got some ideas based off the Sneak for next season. >_< Damn my Muse, she never takes a vacation, even when *I* do!

It didn't take me long to get ready-- I grabbed a quick buffet around noon at the restaurant, watched college football (Michigan owned MIA), and then got into my dress. My contacts weren't any hassle (thankfully), and shortly after, Mom and I headed to the church. A bit of waiting and some hair tussling later, people started showing up, and around 2:50, we got seated. The ceremony wasn't like others-- there was no "Dearly beloved," or loudly proclaimed vows of "I do" or pre-written poems of romance. But Kara looked absolutely stunning, as did Derek and James (her sons) who escorted her down the aisle. The bridesmaids all wore navy, while my Mom, the matron of honor, wore this nice sky blue gown. There was lots of kneeling and hymn-singing, which I admit made me a bit uncomfortable. I tried to think of everything in terms of symbologies I'm okay with-- the Holy Trinity as incarnations of the Goddess, Mary as Ma'at, things like that. I didn't partake of the "Christ's body" ceremony, but I did say Amen a few times, and I did sing along with one of the nice hymns, "When Love is Found."

After that, everyone took photos outside of the church-- but I must state for the record that the hired photographer was a pushy, 80s guy with a bad mullet. He kept getting in my way! And Mom led me to believe I'd be in the park pictures, but NO! Mer is not part of the wedding party, so she can't come. I had to run to catch up with Gary, and we went back to the Inn on foot.

Pat and Kim showed up post-ceremony-- Pat in overalls, of all things. Geez. Kim even had her dogs with her. I'm not sure which was worse-- THAT, or the Irish couple with the kids (one of whom walked up to me yesterday when I arrived, and DEMANDED a hug) thatwouldn't shut up during the ceremony. I read about a bride who was reluctant to allow a relative to bring her children- and even agreed to pay for someone to babysit. The relative in question said she wouldn't come at all if she couldn't have her 10-month-old with her-- and that just made me laugh.

I'm not a gigantic fan of kids, even if they are cute or sweet or whatever. I completely agree with Scott on one thing: if someone ever has the balls to get married to me, it'll be a private ceremony, with as few people as possible. Throw the party from Hell later on-- the ceremony should be private, quiet, and romantic.

Anyway, I have to go find Gary now so we can head to the reception-- even though it's not supposed to start for another hour and a half. o_O Maybe it'll end early? *shrugs* Yep.

One last thing-- call me weird or whatever, but from where I was sitting in the front pews, with a large aisle behind me, I could feel those who couldn't be there physically. I mean Michelle, my half-sister; Grandma Alice and Grandpa Ed; Timmy, Kara's twin brother; Judy, and even Mom's first husband and Michelle's dad, Smitty. I could *feel* them there. I even saw what Michelle, Judy, and Timmy wore. Timmy, of all people, really was happy for Kara. I could hear him right behind me. Call me weird or whatever, but I know I wasn't imagining things. I'm glad they could see Kara get married. It really was a day for the whole world to be happy about.

So I'm happy. ^_^
