azurite: (alleyb - lost my mind/bb5)
Okay, so I practically hated myself for not being able to go to Fanime this year... though people say I didn't miss much. I didn't have a cosplay ready, I still haven't made any AMVs... so far, I'm still just a "regular attendee," which isn't that cool, if you think about it. Though I can whip together my Anzu cosplay in a flash (Duel Disk and all), I did that LAST year-- I want something new.

New would be AX. Yes, me, Miss Anti-AX, was thinking of going. So much "thinking" in fact that I almost got an online registration... $25 for July 4th (the only day I can go) BUT! Anaheim is 70 miles from me, where I am in little ol' Northridge. And it being a holiday, I'm limited to taking the bus there-- a 3 hour ride. I would get there by noon, and presumably stay until the late evening-- and watch the fireworks from the bus on my way home. I have work at 1pm the next day.

See, I really want to go because:
a) I've never been to AX, and it'd be nice to know if the hype is worth all the trouble of getting there and back
b) I want to see everyone! (Even though I'd be seeing them in San Francisco only a week or two later...)
c) I haven't had my true!con fix for 2005 (The Tokyo Anime Fair SO did not count)
d) Fireworks + Anime = happy Mer!
e) I can actually afford it!

But I can't take Greyhound or the train-- I'd be stuck taking 3 buses for a 3 hour drive. It's cheap, but crowded... and who knows what the holiday schedule would be like? I checked the MTA (Metro Transportation Authority) for any news about July 4 or Holiday Schedules-- nothing. I'm wondering if it's worth it to get so hyped up when it's so much trouble already-- I mean, this is really a last minute decision.

Maybe there are some cons going on elsewhere, later in the year (like say, in Winter?) that I could go to with less hassle.

I dunno guys, what should I do? (Is anyone driving there, or renting a car?)
