She's got an evil plan
Dec. 3rd, 2004 12:20 pmI have an idea, I have an idea! Listen up, it's a good one this time, I swear.
I happen to love the winter season, the holidays, etc. It doesn't matter that every year, I end up getting into a brawl with the cookie press, spilling hundreds of M&Ms on the floor, or arguing with my mom over the placement of that half-broken goose egg ornament-- I still love winter.
And I love the idea of a Secret Santa. Now, I'm a dweeb, if you haven't guessed by now. A crafty, evil, insane dweeb. And this dweeb here happens to get very generous (read: uncharacteristic) this time of year, and very determined, as well. So I'd like to set up a Secret Santa for all my wunderbar online friends!
Yes, you.
Obviously the IRL people I know (you know who you are) are a whole different box of ornaments, so guys, don't feel like I'm leaving you out! You know when I see you again I'll be spoiling you rotten with my very presence (haha) among other things! ^_^
So here's what I'm gonna do. I'm going to set up something at GuessList.com (probably), which will make this whole schebang a lot easier than commenting and junk on LJ. BUT! Let me know whether you want to be in on this (through here) if you can, because then I know who to send email invites to. To participate, all you do is reply, and we get things going from there.
Now, because most of us are:
* dependent on our parents
* broke college students
* poor adults
* some combination thereof
There is NO cost. The minimum for a gift is $0. That's for things like fanart, fanfics, layouts, icons, and so on. The minimum cost for such a gift is a donation of your time and creative genius. Of course, if you happen to be lacking in one or more of those departments, you're more than welcome to shell out, say, $25 for:
* A LiveJournal paid account for a year (people will like that)
* LiveJournal clothing (ooh, spiffy!)
* A paid Fanfiction.net account (also spiffy!)
* Something on an Amazon.com wishlist
* A gift card/certificate for some cool store
How's that sound?
If a professional funky site doesn't work out, I can always try (keyword: TRY) to PHP code something (a random algorithm) to match people up and choose random gifts from say, a list of "Your Top 5 Most Wanted Gifts." Then, people who do the $0/time thing will let me know and I can upload their presents to a page to be downloaded, and those who actually BOUGHT something can communicate via email to arrange mailing (if it's through Amazon.com or PayPal, they take care of that for you).
AAAAAAAAnd if all that blows up in my face, there's always the possibility of me holding a massive actual contest --holiday themed, of course-- sponsored either by DRFA/BEA or Darkness Rising. With a real prize. You know, like... Yu-Gi-Oh volumes? *grin* Maybe a calendar, or somesuch? Let me know what you're into, and I'll do it. I'm getting into the holiday groove!
Anywho, I gotta go meet Scott after his Yoga (you say Yoga, I think Yogurt!) class. Mata na~
