Right now, she is moving on with her life
Aug. 25th, 2004 10:52 pmI'm convinced my Journalism teacher, Ms. Henry, is psycho. She's got such a loud, shrill voice-- and don't get me wrong, she's one of those cool, quirky teachers, but her voice really grates on my mind. Nonetheless, I almost fell asleep in there (despite sitting in the 2nd row), because I barely slept last night. AGAIN. I was downloading Re: Cutey Honey and trying to snag "Addicted to Curry" from Jimbo (without success for the latter, btw) and I went from 10:30 to 11:00 to 12:00... so I barely slept. No fun.
Went to Oviatt this morning and read the Yi-Fu Tuan paper... and as it turned out, I was the only one (or one of few) from Geography who read it. Yay? I guess Mr. Davidson (or Davidoff, as he told us earlier... some weird family mystery) doesn't really stick to the syllabus on the 2nd day of classes. Turned out Vilma from work is actually in my Geo class, but I didn't see her since there's 90-some-odd people in there (and more trying to add), and I sat in the front.
But I'm going out of order. In Speech class we had a quiz, and even though I did all the reading on Monday, I barely remembered the details-- like what rhetoric exactly was, where it originated, what the elements are... I guess I should do the reading the night before the class (that is, the day after my other classes) so I can remember them better. I wonder if she'll mark that as a No Pass... Friday is my Introductory speech of my classmate, so I have to prep for that speech. I interviewed her today at lunch, so all should go well.
I survived work again. Yesterday started out miserably, if only because Ray lectured me, and then that selfsame manager (I think) bitched at me again today for saying (admittedly, in a loud voice) for the customers to please not block the aisle from the office to the text floor. Don't get me wrong, I know it's stressing to be waiting in a long line with a heavy basket of books, but when I'm on my feet for 8 hours at a time, getting paper cuts and people bitching at me left and right, don't make ME out to be the ultimate villain. Stupid bitchy manager, anyway. It wasn't like I said "get the fuck out of my way" or anything. I said "Could you all please go to one side or the other, and not block the aisle way?" It's loud out there, and they wouldn't have heard me otherwise. Politely asking one or two people to move doesn't get the message across to anyone else. Not to mention Bitch!Amy decided to say that someone had told me that before, but no one ever had. -_- Idiot.
To make matters worse, yesterday I got into a bit of a tiff with Tanya (and I didn't write about it, because she was watching over my shoulder as I typed in my LJ) because she kept talking about Mike (one of the semi-managers), and how she's gotta talk to him about getting a ride home, and getting her books bought... she's totally using him, or something. Ray mentioned this one time that Mike's 21 and he always leeches onto a new, young girl, and while in any other situation I would have felt sorry for Tanya, THAT just made me sick-- that she's using him and doesn't feel any regrets for it. I don't think it's going to go anywhere, since she has a boyfriend and whatever, but it pisses me off that she can suck up to a higher-up and get all these bonuses for it. A larger discount, for example, even though we have a strict policy on that. Geez.
But I think we're okay now. She was out at Online Desk with Vilma, Gerri, and Cynthia for a while; I finished off my lunch in the break room (people seem to think my OD calls to the back are amusing, and like it when I do it with a "character voice") and clocked in at 1. There wasn't much to be done for a while, and before I knew it, it was around 3pm-- I helped OD, did some sorting, did some shelving... yep. And Scott came at 5.
He hugged me. I don't know what to make of this. First he's all smiley and nice, and then he was kinda pokey (well, he didn't MIND poking me in that friendly, "gotcha" way, and he didn't mind me poking him back either), and then today he says hi with this giant hug. o_O I do NOT know what to make of this. But I hugged him back in that surprised "WOW!" way... we worked together running around getting orders together most of the day. I found out he's a Star Wars fan, loves Triumph the Insult Dog, and is a Scorpio-- so he's sort of like (and don't shoot me for this) the Kaiba to my Anzu (hey I'm an Aries with a LEO rising!). He's a bit scary when he's working and all, but he's fun when he's relaxed and we're not swamped with stuff to do and confusing order numbers and lousy calls from the OD.
Once Vilma got off and I came back from my lunch (which, by the way, was only 21 minutes because I knew Vilma needed to leave; I also neglected to take a 15 minute break), it was just Scott and me at the OD desk. Alone. ^_^ There was a long while when I was in the back room while he was running around with a pick list or something, and the whole hug thing plus iced tea for lunch got me in a spectacularly happy mood, and I was all giggly while working with Joshua, Matt, and The Other Guy (I'm bad with names). They totally knew what was up, too. X_X I just can't keep my mouth shut when it comes to weird crushes and the like. Damn me.
So obviously, the fact that he's older than me isn't a deterrent (anymore). He's really fun to be around! Plus we're both off this weekend, and we were talking about movies for a long time, so maybe I can squirrel him into taking me to Hollywood to catch a movie at this Dome or whatever it's called. ;) It would be fun to actually go out and do something on my weekends, yanno? When Grandpa came to pick me up, I grabbed my stuff and went out of my way to hunt Scott down to say goodbye to him. He brightened up my whole day, so I just thought I would. :) And I should see him for a few hours tomorrow, at least, so maybe we can try to make plans for Saturday or something. That'd be wicked cool. (He DID ask me what I was doing Saturday after 11, but he had to go fill an order before I could really answer him. So answer for me-- was that like, a pick-up line or something, or an honest "what do you do on Saturdays after 11?" question. I don't know. I'm all weirded out.
And fuck, hot water is broken-- so I can either take a cold shower (BLECH!) tomorrow, or wait maybe a day until the water heater in the garage gets repaired. I can't believe this. No hot water. This is going to bite some serious ass. Am I going to have to be old fashioned and heat up water on the range or something?
Class tomorrow at 9:30am. Still don't have my math book, but hopefully it'll come tomorrow. ^_^
