Summer Lovin', Had Me A Blast
Jul. 16th, 2004 02:29 amPay no attention to the subject in the title bar. I have not recently watched or listened to any Grease music or derivatives thereof. It's just because I have this invite to the "Summer Lovin'" Teen Vogue thing-- which just happens to be the damn day I leave. Does anyone wanna snag these tickets? They're in SF-- sounds cool, too. Mocktails, tattoos, photo shoots, DJ spins, and a 'gift with purchase,' whatever that might be.
Tomorrow --er, tonight!-- is the BONFIRE! For any and all interested parties, the finalized information is:
* Ocean Beach @ Fulton near Safeway (I'm pretty sure it's Stairwell/Gate 14 or 15)
* 7:30 meeting time; sunset is expected at 8:30, and we might stick around as late as 11:30.
* Bring your own... food, games, blankets, entertainment. If you can't carry much, bring cash for burnables- $5 or so for a DuraFlame fire log.
* Party Status is currently "Dry," meaning we're alcohol free. This is subject to change upon the whims of whoever is attending.
* Comments, questions, etc... call me. If you don't know my ph# for some bizarre reason, IM or email me. I'll be online most of tomorrow, probably.
Lessee... yesterday (that is to say, Thursday) I actually stayed up way late working on various things, so I ended up going to sleep after 3am. Which was not a good idea, since I planned to meet Joe after 1pm all the way at the Piers/Anchorage Shopping Center. It takes a good hour to get there, and I'm such a procrastinator... anyway, I managed to get an outfit together and stick to my plan-- I got there just after 1:15. o_O And I hung around until 4:30. Am I devoted, or what? Admittedly, I amused myself the whole time- took stock of the games I want in the future, made notes of the special cards included in the various Yu-Gi-Oh games (an ongoing project that had its debut here in the past... in an entry that I will find later), and drawing pictures of the hot chicks on the 'Three Kingdoms' based games. :)
Joe took his lunch break, and out of desperation (more like not having any options down by the pier) we went to In-N-Out. Since I'd eaten a giganimous bowl of Froot Loops before I left (and owing to the fact that I was broke), I didn't get anything except a soda. Which, by the way, I spilled as we were leaving, klutz that I am. Joy, just what I need-- to be embarrassed in front of people I care about and stupid tourists.
Blah, blah, flash forward... we get to leave at 4:30, and we decide to head to RTA. Richie, who was initially supposed to come, didn't make it, so the only people we saw there were Jeremy and Benji. Jeremy loaded Extreme with free credits, though people still used tokens as placeholders (and confusion always results because of that. Yeesh, use cards, people!). I tried to play a few stages with Joe, but I didn't want to impose by forcing my usual songs on him (I always play the same sort: Break Down, Can't Stop Fallin' In Love (Speed Mix), I Do I Do I Do, www Blondie Girl, Waka Laka, Nori Nori Nori, Ever Snow, Abyss, So Deep, Saint Goes Marching (Remix)... you get the picture). In the end, I failed almost all the songs, because they were insanely hard. And the fourth stage was worst-- he picked one of Sean's insane ass edits from Pop'N'Music, this time to Cartoon Heroes. Of course I failed. I think I looked even lamer than usual on the DDR pad, but I am by no means going to quit. I just need to practice more and get more coordinated is all. Besides, I gotta keep my legs toned somehow! ^_~
We left a while later and then caught the F over by the Muni station; the first car went by us, but we caught another one a few moments later. And, though this is a bit off topic, one of my dreams (as in, the things that happen when you sleep) actually came true... just not the way I expected. Ehh... it's a weird/long story, so I won't bore you with it here. I had a lot of bizarre dreams last night-- ones that make that whole Venezulean fish thing seem tame. But I can't really recall them that well right now; only that they were really bizarre.
We both got off at Embarcadero Bart, and parted ways. Bus ride home was boring and rather lonely, but on the bright side, I acquired a new game from EB for only $5! Even better, it's based on the Hundred Years' War and the Wars of the Roses! WHOO HOO! I love historical, adventure, and puzzle games. ^_^ I'm almost overeager to go to LA (even though there's a lot I'll miss, which is something I'll cover later) just so I can install all these games and zonk out in front of the computer in LA for the rest of summer.
Yep, yep. That was my day. I posted the four ficlets/challengefics though! I still have more:
(1) Mamono - The Dot Dot Dot Challenge
(2) akaVertigo - The "Not Sulking!" Challenge
I also issued an AIM challenge to Harley/
wickeddawn -- the Fever Challenge, which has to use the line "If I get sick, it's ALL your fault!" Others are welcome to do it as well.
Finally, Mamono answered my briefcase challenge with a very dark and suspenseful oneshot, "Gunshot," which is already categorized into my CHALLENGES section in my Memories. :) Go see, go see!
And in the BIG NEWS OF THE DAY, I thought I would like to announce the birth of a happy, healthy FANFICTION ARCHIVE! Yes, you heard me. Seto/Anzu lovers, Azureshippers, or otaku like me now have a place to call home for their favorite genre of goodfics. Dragonfayth is the name of the archive, and after I work out some initial kinks and set-up bugs, I will have an archive to connect to BEA!
By the way, I am giving complete and total credit to
mklutz for the idea; she indirectly linked me to eFiction's website, and it's the amazingly easy-to-use script that has allowed me to create DF. I posted a comment in the
setoanzulove community requesting banners, icons, and any other support people would be willing to give me; comment here, there, or email me for more details! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
So far, so good. I think I can survive the next four days. If I do... well, yay me, I guess. I'm keeping myself amazingly busy, chipper, and creative in light of the fact that I detest summer as a rule, and I hate July most especially. But I think Michelle would be proud of me. I'd like to think she is, anyway. I suppose I can find out on the 20th...
I wonder what tonight's sleep will bring me in the form of dreams?
( And just for laughs, a Googlism on Seto Kaiba. )
