Random Acts of Kindness
Jun. 29th, 2004 08:49 pmOkay, so I've been feeling rather lousy since yesterday-- lousy defined as guilty and dirty and stuff... Blah, that's another entry. Anyway, so I woke up kind of late today (I didn't get to sleep until around 5am this morning), so I skipped out on Jimmy's invite to some BESM thing at Cris's (for other reasons, as well).
( And the day begins... )
*sigh*
Anyway, onto happier/weirder topics.
(1) Is anyone else in the USA having problems accessing Jenniyah's Yu-Gi-Oh scanlations page. Yes yes, I know it says that the site isn't for people from the USA because it's licensed here, but lacking Volume 37, I wanted to look at the scene with Seto and Kisara in Battle 334. I'm wondering if they actually put a USA-ISP blocker up, or if the site is just *down.* Maybe people outside the USA could also check, and tell me if they're getting errors as well? Normally I don't bother with scanlations (since YGO is licensed in the States and I support Viz; also because I can read the Japanese volumes I buy from Kinokuniya) but this is a special exception.
(2) WDKY. Pennies. Need more penny roll things.
Oh yeah, and today's my Dad's birthday! :DDD Can you believe I forgot up until MOM, of all people, reminded me? Hah. But he hasn't called. Or maybe he has, and my cell phone is being stupid. In LA, I can use the same phone, but mom pays $5 to prevent Analog Roam or whatever. But why can't I just get a new phone...!? Gah, too much money. Stupid, stupid...
Yesterday went to RTA, and surprise!surprise, it wasn't just Joe there, but Jimmy, Christal, Richie, and Sean as well. o_O I'm not forgetting anyone, am I? It was so dead there, so Joe and Jimmy hogged Extreme for at least 20 minutes. I got a few tokens (shame on me!) and grabbed an Initial D Version 3 Card (whee, got my RX-8 with the assistance of Richie!)-- which is Green. Maybe it's just RTA, having been worn down by so many HKs and FOBs, but it also could have been the RX-8 itself, or the previous player's stiffness settings. Anyway, I kept ramming into the wall as I raced Itsuki (Iggy) on Myogi with the RX-8; I pulled ahead in the last lap and WON! :D Boo-yah.
Then I counted my ticket receipts that I'd saved up from all my previous excursions; to my absolute surprise, I had 2154, which was enough to get the new Glitter Motion Lava Lamp they had on display! Okay, so I'm a bit of a lava lamp freak. But I want my room in LA to be wicked cool, and what better way to decorate than with loads of things in my favorite color-- PURPLE!? ^_^ So I got the Lava Lamp, 2 new pairs of bracelets (glitter blue and glitter purple, of course) and a 3 ft. long Pixi Stix-- Orange Flavor. I ate it all, too. :D
Played some DDR with Jimmy (he fielded 2 of the 3 required tokens), mostly songs I'd never done before. T'wasn't too bad. Exercise, at any rate. I read more of "Pledged," and then we took off for In-N-Out (for lack of a closer, cheaper, better place nearby. Seriously, it's either that, 7-11, or McDonald's. Blech). Sean was messing around with his yo-yos all night long (seriously, he's freaky good with those things), and he even got some people staring at him through the In-N-Out window. He was still using them (to scare tourists! hah!) when we caught the F to downtown. Joe and Richie got off to take BART home; Jimmy, Richie, Sean, Christal and I went further. Christal took the 14, but Sean, Jimmy and I grabbed the 31 to Sean's house to watch some yo-yo videos (competitions are scary, man. The tricks they do?! Wow) and stuff he'd made in Propster's class in Advanced Video Production.
Again, amazement. Sean's group, Flaming Cabbage, is actually quite good *and* funny. Other, pathetic groups resorted to making vids about ROTC (and they forgot to turn the mic on whenever they interviewed others) or a kid running away from a fake bully. -.-; Plus they had one of these people imitating Sean, but they didn't do a good job at it. What was funny was that in THAT video, someone cut "Sean's" yo-yo string. Sean told me that had actually happened to him before, and all he did was whip out some extra string, and keep yo-yoing. That's what makes him so Scary Cool. :)
Jimmy and I left really late-- after 3am. I was too freaked out to wait at the bus stop by myself, but luckily the bus came just as we were rounding the corner from Sean's, so I just ran for it and got on. I nearly missed my stop too (engrossed in "Pledged," which I finished), but I walked home... thoughts filled with various things.
Yep, so that was it. Now LiveJournal is being stupid, I should be going out with Steph++ tomorrow, and I'm working mad-dog on WDKY. I want to work on layouts, awards, and SM fics and junk, but I have to take this at a pace where I don't get fried.
...And I feel like I'm forgetting something again, but I don't know what. Dammit.
