o_O What a bizarre couple of days. Okay, not really, but it always feels bizarre whenever I stay at someone else's house (in this case, Cris's again) and lose track of time. Least this time, I got the big "couch." But still, trying to sleep at 6am in the Presidio when light is just BLINDING in... yeah, and we'd just watched "Ocean's Eleven" -- and probably some other stuff that I forgot about. I was immersed in "The Goblet of Fire," and just finished it a short while ago-- a lot of people were right in saying it was the most "fanfic-cy" of the novels thus far. Draco's character is so... "wooden." -.- It's like hello, shouldn't he seem a bit more human?

Currently waiting for: Kysra's Stuff ("Black" and "Grey Rainbow," most especially, but of course "Playing Tag" is up there), Mamono's "In The Sands of Egypt," and Atlantis's Stuff ("Riddles of the Heart" and "Power of the Nile.") Oh, and Harlequine's lemon that I forgot the name of, but she was supposed to send me DAYS AGO! *smirk*

Currently writing: I've been shifting between "The Rose Chronicles" and "What Doesn't Kill You." For TRC, I even made a map of Rose's travels; the problem is highlighting the route and finding out the distances; plus, finding a bit more about travel, fashion, and food (etc.) in the 1480s. Several of the cities on the route to "defeating the Lancastrians" actually don't exist anymore, or underwent a name change. I had to guess about a few of them, judging by name similarity and closeness to previous locations. 'Tis a pain in the bum, I'll tell ya that much. I've been getting plot bunnied quite a bit recently for "Prophecy Girl" though.

Can anyone tell me why it is correct to have a paragraph of dialogue, and then, when the speaker changes the subject (but has continued talking, without break for dialogue attribution), that no closing quote is given? You know, when you see this:

"Blah Blah Blah Blah. Blah Blah.
[new paragraph] Yadda Yadda Yadda Yadda!"

I always thought that whatever has a start must have an end, and it isn't proper to leave dialogue just "hanging out in the open" like that. But I see it all the time-- not just in fanfiction, but in Harry Potter, too. Is it a British thing?

Speaking of Harry Potter:
(1) I never HATED it. I disliked the uber-hype that surrounded it. It annoyed me how people would CAMP OUT for a damned book. And Harry Potter being at Fanime annoyed the SHIT out of me. It is NOT a cosplay.
(2) I'm reading the books now, but I'm a far cry from becoming a fangirl. I have not made any icons, wallpapers, or layouts, nor have I taken any quizzes to find out "Which Harry Potter character am I destined to be with!?" I may or may not write fics, but I do read them, as is my routine when going into new fandom territory.
(3) Oh, and as I would have gotten the chance to tell Joe before he interrupted me, PEOPLE'S FEELINGS DO CHANGE. I won't go ranting about HP anymore, because I do rather like the series. But I'm not going to be carrying around a wand or knitting scarves any time soon.

One last query-- does anyone know of any HP resource site, where they have a list of all known spells, hexes, curses, and the like? I'm sure there's a generator out there somewhere for "Harry Potter-style spells." I was just wondering where I might find it, to save myself the trouble of going insane and making one myself.

Anyway... yeah. I really haven't been eating much lately. During the course of the day I stayed at Cris's, I found out my weight dropped from 98 (I was surprised it was that low anyway; I weighed myself because a character in one of the video games kind of looked like me, and I wanted to know if I was her weight as well) to 96. -.- That is not healthy. Makes no sense why I feel like my thighs are so damn BOWLING PIN shaped, but I'm classifiably "UNDERWEIGHT!" Hmph.

I feel like I'm forgetting something. Tomorrow-- er, later today-- I might go back to Cris's for a Brisco Country, Jr. marathon (I still have popcorn leftover from yesterday). Joe left his cards there, so maybe if he's not working he'll come back for the marathon and get them (and not ignore me, that would be nice). Am I supposed to go to RTA, too? >_o It's not like I have any money to spend there, last I checked. Still, I should spend all my tickets before I go to LA.

*yawn* Back to the fics.

1 - Need to make a new SMRFF layout for Usa Day, and figure out over-rides for LJs so I can make one for the smrff community, too. I also need to make the templates for the Usa Day awards, and maybe if I can sort through all the backlog from last year's Mamo Day (we had problems with the voting), those awards too. I'm pretty sure I have the templates for them, I just never polished them off and uploaded them to the group. '

2 - The other day when I saw HP3 at the Metreon with everyone, I also played Initial D-- they have version 3! I upgraded my Lancer and beat Itsuki (Iggy) AGAIN... and decided to try and get an RX-8. I was hoping for a blue one and everything, but you know me and steering wheels (or game controllers, I suppose)-- anyway, I got stuck with a red Roadster. -.-!! It's so not what I wanted... *le sigh* I can try and get it again, but a Roadster isn't all that bad, I guess. It moves like my Lancer, without needing the constant braking to compensate for under/oversteering. You just gun it all the way... ^_^ I hate the music in Ver. 3 though. IT SUCKS.

3 - It's been a few months, I'm sure, but Mom's cappuccino maker still smells like fish first thing in the morning whenever she brews anything. It's like someone tried to boil tuna guts in there. Blech.

4 - Mom went nail-happy today and decided to tear down the ugly living room curtains that have been broken longer than I can remember. She tried installing a pair of short Venetian blinds (heaven knows where she got them from; if they're from any of our old places, 10+ years ago, she really *is* a packrat), but apparently they're not up there completely. It still looks nice though.

Hmmm... yeah.

Does anyone else get weirded out by the word 'snogging?' I mean, it doesn't seem commonplace in British English, really. I know that there was that book and all, but really, I don't think it's the kind of word you'd use in place of regular English words (American and otherwise). Snogging just sounds like... well, what a pig would do. Even if that's not the case (I know what it means), it's slang, right?

My bad mood is increased by the presence of Anti-Téa people.
(1) If you're anti-a character, why waste your time making banners, websites, or flashy-changey icons that say so? Just wallow in your own stupid hatred and let the rest of the world be.
(2) If you're going to be anti-anyone, at least spell their name right. It's Téa, and yes, you can easily make the accented e, even in Photoshop and Painter. Figure it out, loser.
(3) If you're going to bash a character, have some decent rationale behind it-- don't go around claiming that Téa is a bitch based on ONE angry picture of her, or ONE episode that you bothered to watch where she was making a friendship speech. Do your research, and oh yeah, go to the local Target and GET A LIFE!

I really hate bashers. I mean given, there are some characters in every given series that I don't like, but that doesn't mean I'll go all out and write bash-fics, make them wickedly OOC in normal fics, etc. etc. It's just stupid, and immature and... it makes me want to strangle them.
