Greetings from the overly-warm (going to turn the overhead fan on now) Northridge, California! The flight down here went flawlessly-- I even got money from mom enough to snag a WIRED magazine for this month. Makes me want to make a post about current events and my stance on them, but I'll save that for later. Right now, I want to finish up my con report and add details that I neglected to have last post.

After I got here, I had a huuuge lunch (omg, corn on the cob, chicken, baked apples with cottage cheese, and a salad. I was in stomach HEAVEN) and then headed to CSUN with Grandpa. Baba was quite insistent that we be irate and angry that CSUN's Student Resource Center screwed me over so royally, and that we add that she's an alumni, etc. etc. Well, though we got a bit lost on the campus (so much is under construction... lots of new parking structures!) we finally got to the Journalism EOP Center, and amazingly, snagged an appointment for tomorrow morning at 8:30am! YAY! So I'll be able to get my classes and all. Weird thing is, the Catalogue isn't available until the middle of the month, so how do I pick my classes? We'll find out tomorrow, I guess.

Ugh, time for a change of music. It's been Utada Hikaru's "Distance" for a few hours now.

Anywho... why am I up at this ungodly hour? (When I originally typed this, it was 7:00am) I was up only a few ungodly hours ago, and I'm still somewhat tired... my loving grandparents decided to wake me up around 6:40 this morning, even though we're 10 minutes from CSUN (and that's by WALKING), and my appointment isn't until 8:30. I ended up taking a long shower (eew, spider in the tub!!) and then having a nice breakfast, with mozerella scrambled eggs and chives, along with this weird, but tasty toast. o_O Almost everything Baba and Grandpa eat is fat free and whatnot, so if I try to survive off their food, I'll probably become skinnier than a pocky stick.

Speaking of pocky, I got to glomp a tentacle monster at Fanime.

...Yeah, I know you're all wondering what the hell one thing has to do with another. Well, the tentacle monster had pink... appendages! Just like pocky can be pink! Whoo hoo!

Am I forgetting anything seriously important? I dunno. Anyway, so here I am in LA... and I have gotten my classes! YAAAY! So here's the deal:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: - Speech/Public Speaking (9-9:50am), World Geography (10-10:50am), Journalism (11-11:50am)
Tuesday, Thursday: - Math Ideas (9:30-10:45am), Computer Graphic Tools (11am-12:15pm)

So that's it. 5 classes, 15 credits... wow. And if I somehow manage to swing my financial aid (loans, grants), and that one ScholarShare thing I have, I might just be able to AFFORD all this. Grandpa has been encouraging me to bug the financial aid department to give me more regarding housing-- more is always better, I know, but financial aid confuses me... @_o

I have to pay everything by July 8th, and luckily all the fees include the registration fee for the orientation day on August 12th. Actual classes start on the 23rd. :O It's time to get money!

And as for what I'll do with the rest of my time down here (I leave Burbank tomorrow at 12:30... sorry I couldn't stop by, Eva!) ... I dunno. I'd like to hit up the Mall, but I have no cash. :P We'll just have to wait and see....

Man, there's some weird stuff on TV today.

I'm a bit annoyed-- I wanted to work on my websites, maybe get some of them actually UP AND RUNNING while I'm down here, but in the process of PHPizing my main page (Souten), I realized I didn't have the proper username/password to access the cPanel for the domain I'm mooching off of onee-sama. And then the guilt sets in...

She's online, so I thought to ask her, but she's away, so I'm stuck in a rut here. I was trying to upload a guestbook for Souten and make the changes (and test them) for the PHPsite, but now I can't! >_< GRR! I suppose I could work on the other sites where I don't need to bother with cPanel, but my goal is to OPTIMIZE all my websites, and I'd like to PHPize most of them, if I could.

On the list of priorities, I'd say...
- All of the AMC websites, especially the ones I'm most active in. Darkness Rising could go for a new layout, but I need inspiration from somewhere. Time to start hitting up the archives...

Did you know that Zodiac P.I. was known as "Jyuunikyuu de Tsukamaete" in Japan-- which translates to "Constellations of the Zodiac - Catching." Tokyopop translates this as "Zodiac Detective," though I don't know how. @_O Tsukamaete is a verb, not a noun... And they had to "jazz" it up and call it something different. They're doing the same thing with "Boys Be..." and calling it "The Guy's Guide to Girls." -.- Geez.

Finally, people are weird. This guy who apparently read my fics (and calls himself a college student) has no fics on FFnet, but an account-- and he says he has an OC which he lends out to his friends that they use in "most of their YGO fics." He even asked ME if I wanted to use this character-- but you all know my rule.

If an existing character can do it and not be out of character, DO NOT USE AN OC.

I told the guy that I don't use original characters much, and when I do, I prefer them to be my own creation... but he's all "Well, just in case you wanted to." *rolls eyes* Riiiight. Sorry, but the name Kevin Hunter doesn't even sound like a Yu-Gi-Oh character, it sounds like a Marty-Stu or worse, a Self Insert.

Gah, I need to read some goodfics right about now. So far, "Dancing with the Devil" is doing okay, but there's some OOCness. Maybe I should try to make that original DR layout.

To make up for not being able to post throughout Fanime weekend (+Monday/Tuesday), I am posting a CRAPLOAD this weekend.

(1) Souten: The Azure Sky is now entirely PHP! I added a Guestbook powered by SimpBook, so please sign it and tell me what you think of the site! I'm going to get around to making new layouts for the sites that are still down, and hopefully PHPizing them all. :)

(2) I'm looking for a fic that I can actually work on and maybe even post by tomorrow afternoon-- but of course, long fics with the chapters already started back home are out of the question. This includes TLC and What Doesn't Kill You, so I'm stuck wondering whether I should work on You and Me or Family.

(3) I'm officially addicted to Yuki Kajiura's music. I've always liked the song "Em More" from Noir that she did; it inspired me for "Perfect World" (Star Ocean 2) and the dancing scene in Chapter 4 of "What Doesn't Kill You." But now I've gotten ahold of some of her other Noir/.hack songs, in addition to some on the FICTION cd. I really would like to hear that title track, but I can't find it anywhere on Kazaa K++... I suppose if I ever get ahold of some cash, I'll be sure to buy it. Unless someone has it?

Meanwhile, I LOVE this song... *sways*

I really should make some more LJicons. >_o I wanna interview some of the top-notch icon makers I know (*pokes Mamono*) and find out what programs they use, favorite fonts, inspirations, and that kind of thing. I wanna learn! :O
