Part of this complete breakfast
May. 24th, 2004 10:43 amPine-orange-banana juice, a cinnamon raisin bagel, and a waffle. Tons of carbs, but so totally part of this complete breakfast. And now it's a scientific fact that people who want to lose weight and KEEP it off actually have high-carb diets, so NYAH! in your face ATKINS! :DDD *huggles her bag of bagels*
Scary -- I just got my first "review" that said something along the lines of "this was good read my fic." o_O In all the time I have been on FFnet, for all 56+ stories I have written, I have NEVER once gotten such a review. If you can call it that. I'm still in shock. Man, the paparazzi types start early, don't they?
Meeeh... I wonder if anyone else is curious. I've gotten a few people asking me a) why I like to kill off Téa's parents (esp. in car accidents) and b) whether "Family" is based off anything from my life. I can safely say NO to the last one... I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or not. But for those that don't know, my older half-sister died in an accident (not a car accident) when I was 11 and she was 19. Obviously, this impacted the rest of my life and such, and I suppose in a lot of fics, I "channel" Téa in a way; she reminds me of both myself and my sister, so... >_> Yeah. Not trying to do self-inserts or anything wacky like that. ^^;
I'm never going to have the joy of having any nieces or nephews, which sucks majorly, so I guess Arina is my "imaginary niece." As for Téa's parents... I blame that on watching too much Sailormoon. Ya'll know that Mamoru's parents died in a car accident and he lost his memory, ne? Well, I was a HUGE Sailormoon junkie for most of my younger years, and it will always be my first anime love (my sister got me into it), so every now and then, you'll find references or allusions to it. Also, I find that car accidents are more frequent and dangerous than people let on. A lot of people die in hit-and-runs in my city, and I find that sad. My mom was in a car accident, and my sister, before she passed away, got hit by cars a LOT when she was on her bike. Now, given that in WDKY, the "accident" is a plot device, that's excusable. But in "Family," I made it as a sad event that caused Téa to grow up a lot faster than necessary, but give her the sort of maturity necessary to take care of a child.
O_O!! EVA! Guess what!? At your university, they have a "History of Japanese Visual Arts: Anime and Manga" class where they use the How to Draw manga series and even have a starter kit with all the supplies! O_O!!! >_> I wonder if I can take classes there on the side... :O
Oh, and on my hit list: Christopher Hart. Don't worry if you don't know who this guy is, you probably don't want to. When I go to Japantown, I love immersing myself in the culture of everything Japanese. The good, the bad, the... American!?? NANI!? There's some shmuck going around publishing REALLY BAD "How to Draw Manga" (not the official series) books... and they're all just horrible, anime-wannabe knock-offs. This guy presumes he can use the centuries-old American comic-book styles to draw manga, and that he's just as good as the artists and manga-ka that go to specific schools and spend the equivalent of thousands of dollars every year on supplies. GRRR!! I hate this guy. His books deserve to be BURNED.
Speaking of the original How to Draw Manga, series, I remember seeing a book ad (probably in one of the covers of the books) for the "How to Draw Manga" story book-- all about putting together an actual STORYLINE for the manga you have been scribbling since 2001. o_O Said book is NOT listed on the official site, but I KNOW I am not imagining things. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Hm. I have to start compiling my "Buy it at Fanime!" list. I spent $20 yesterday (bad Mer!) on card sheaths (need to put together my deck too!) and the June and July Shounen Jumps. -.- Anzu LOVES to get herself in trouble, doesn't she? I'm definitely going to be putting character analyses up on BEA when I get the chance.
PHWEE, I got TRC back from Svelte and Mamono! :DDD EDITING TIME!! And then I can post it! YAAAAAAAY!
Other stuff:
* Hikaru no Go makes me want to eat junior mints
* Drawing Dr. Pepper in manga form is not easy
* Konami is age-discriminatory! I wanna enter the tourneys... but I know I suck. :P
* My hand has been hurting. Dammit, cracking your knuckles isn't supposed to DO anything! It's just releasing air between the joints! So why does it hurt... >_<
* Gotta go back to C&C today and get more card sheaths
