azurite: (chosen drink)
I rarely ever eat at my house, because nine times out of ten, there's nothing TO eat. Leftovers, some weird fish, or maybe pasta-- and who knows how old/moldy/freezer-burned any of that stuff is? I'm a take-out/eat-out kind of person, I guess. But of course, I don't have that option much anymore-- need to save my cash for Fanime. So I tried to find something to eat for breakfast (well, 5pm breakfast) and... nothing. No cereal, barely any juice, and I'm sick of toast (it's what I've had the past few days). There is Malt-O-Meal, but the last time I had that, it tasted like Maple and Brown Sugar-flavored sand. Looked like it, too.

So... I figured I'd do what is very Mer, and try and MAKE something from scratch. Two things I'm good at making from scratch are breakfast dishes and desserts. So I opted for pancakes. Problem-- flour? My mom and I have things from years ago-- we used to go to Costco and buy things like sugar and flour in bulk (and I mean 50 lb. sacks), so we still have Tupperware containers full of the stuff. Of course, sometimes we didn't label them... >_> Anyway, I had to taste-test to make sure it was flour. I've had to do this with sugar and salt before, and it's not fun. Well, I think it was flour. It might have been wheat flour or a pancake mix, but whatever it was, it worked. I mixed, I made... a couple of really nice golden brown cakes, too. ^_^ And now I am pleasantly full.

Irritated, though. I did the dishes before I started cooking, and it just occurs to me that Mom is a slob, no matter how hard she tries to be organized. It must have something to do with that packrat gene of hers, which is sporadic in me-- I'm a packrat that's reforming. She left a whole bowl of Malt-O-Meal in the sink for me to clean up, when she's always the one telling me to empty out the bowls with leftover junk in them, so they don't clog up the sink. We don't have a stinkin' garbage disposal! -.- She won't survive without me doing the dishes. She'll whine about her dermatitis and end up spending $500 on a dishwasher, I just know it.

Also annoying is that fact that CSUN won't get my ELM scores until not the 26th, but the 29th! And the first appointment/workshop available for Journalism majors such as myself is June 4th. So there goes all my well-thought out plans regarding Fanime and a hotel shuttle. Grr. Well, the EOP girl said I should call back later this month and see if the scores are expected to arrive sooner. Thing is, I can't even make an appointment until the scores are in. Which is a problem if I want to FLY down there, as plane tickets are cheaper when you reserve them 21 days in advance. AND CHEAPER IS GOOD. *sigh* I don't want Baba and Grandpa to spend money when I'm not 100% sure I'll get my appointment on the day I need it.

Other tidbits:
85% completed on FFX-2. I can't get the episode complete with O'aka and Wantz, because I paid off his debt too late, apparently. Also can't get the Den of Woe EC!, since I didn't get Crimson Sphere 5. Stupid Leblanc. Impatient &!7c#!! All that's left is Bevelle and Djose Temple, I think. And I need to go to Djose for a digging raise (I think), the Experiment boss, a few Al Bhed Primers, and one of Rikku and Paine's special dressphere items. I have both of Yuna's, and Floral Fallal is coming along quite nicely... ^_^

On the DMRPG, the young'uns are neglecting to READ things. I feel like being a mean English teacher and pointing out to them that I said the Darks were UNCONSCIOUS. Ergo, not talking to me, not eyeing me suspiciously... THEY ARE NOT AWAKE. *groans* Geesh. Gotta email them, because them actually thinking, even for a second, that Anzu might be Zork, will foil our plans. And we made them together, so it makes no sense why they'd want to undermine it. -.-;

And you know what? Even the people I don't know are against me. I went to Ross yesterday (ironically, after dropping off my application at Abercrombie-- and feeling horribly out of place) to look for a sleeveless white blouse for my cosplay. Yeah, I changed my mind-- no more "Seto" Cardshark cosplay-- but Anzu! Her outfit would be easy as heck to replicate, I already have her hair, and I have her deck, too! Well, save the DMG, but that's a minor detail. :P Thing is, I'm not sure if she wears SHORTS or a SKIRT in Battle City. Anyone know? Her outfit should be easy enough to put together-- but I'm not a platform sandal person, so I'll probably use my purple satin Converse instead. Other than that, the only bit I'm missing is the thigh-highs... >_>

ANYWAY, so I went looking through the swimsuits and this grumpy old lady with a heavy accent kept being rude to me and overcounting all the stuff I had--- once she gave me a tag with one too many items on it (thinking my jacket was Ross stock, the ninny), and then she got snotty with me because I didn't know two-piece garments counted as 2 items. Hello, you can't exactly try on a bathingsuit top without a bottom!? Plenty of people mixed and matched though, as it was next to impossible to find a whole swuimsuit in my size in a design I liked. There were a lot of "country" style suits, with braided "belt" things and beads... o_O I finally settled on a black bikini with this jeweled butterfly on it, but the bottoms that were on the hanger were too small... so I went looking for other black medium sized ones, even if they weren't part of the original suit (with the same design on it). And the dressing room lady got all snippy with me, asking me why they weren't all the same size, and she couldn't let me try on tops and bottoms of differing sizes, and they wouldn't let me buy it... GRR! Hello, it's a store! I'll buy whatever the hell I want if it fits me! I can at least understand the reasons why (it's not like she tried to explain to me-- I just know from working in retail, I guess), but she didn't have to give me such 'tude. And when I finally bought a suit with both top and bottom medium sized, the cashier didn't even CHECK to see if they matched. All that brew-ha-ha for nothing. On the bright side, another lady in line had a TINY ITTY BITTY puppy stashed away in her backpack. It was very cute.

An alternate cosplay idea is one I tinkered with two years ago-- Yomiko Readman from "Read or Die" OAVs. I'd need a cream colored or white coat (knee length), and a brown vest. I already have the white blouse and tie-- though my tie is black, not red. I could try and find a red one, though... and then I'd need a long brown skirt. Goodwill, here I come! I have a long BLACK skirt-- maybe I could be Yomiko manga-style? ^^; All I would need then is the coat and vest. And a bunch of flying paper. (Turns out Mom has a few brown skirts in the closet-- but I still need the vest. The coat at least, is optional, considering it's MAY and everything, and a thick coat would be suicide in San Jose heat.)

Bah, so mom's home, and now she doesn't want to come grocery shopping with me. If I want to eat, I have to go get food by myself. GRRR. I wish I had a walkman or an MP3 player so the walk there would be slightly more interesting. And what's today? Monday. Trash night... nothing good on TV... bah, I'm kind of tired. Okay, so maybe I'll take one nap and go around 7:15. Which means I should log off now. There's nothing else to do... I could try and work on WDKY10, the present, or the new BEA layout, but I still need an idea for it. >_< I have plenty of source images, but no ideas on arrangement. Okay, maybe one, but it's one of those fragmented weird ideas...

Pah. Z_Z Tired.
