I miss the good old days

I spent a decent amount of time working on my scrapbook today... the first and second pages. Found out my real blood type isn't O-, like I thought it was for so many years, but A-. Hm. I'll need to get a blood test or something to get it confirmed. Blah, I just checked out Will's latest entry and saw he played MASH. Man, that takes me back. LIKE WAAAAY back, to elementary school, when my friends and I invented other sections to add to MASH, other ways to play... I think in Middle School, Stephanie and I (or maybe it was Amy?) invented GMASHPOD, which stands for: Garage, Mansion, Apartment/Army Base/Asylum, Street/Sidewalk/Shack/Sewer/Spaceship/Split-Level/Silo, House/Hut/Hovel/Hotel/Houseboat, Palace/Penthouse, Outside, Dump/Den. There should be one for B (Basement, Barn), C (for Condo), and T (Trailer Park). And there's probably a crapload of others that you can think of too. The one at playmash.com is so simple... here are my results (edited because I'm shy *SHOCK*):

You know, I thought about other sections to make the classic MASH even more complicated-- honeymoon (saw it on another MASH generator-- the results were hilarious. Some were "in my kitchen" and "at my Mom's house"... that's wrong on SO many levels, people), what age you'll live to... there's tons more. I seem to remember something about a farm somewhere in the MASH mess. @_@;

Anyway, so the Oscars are tomorrow, and that will take 6+ hours of my time up. Yay. -.- The Wave Mag I picked up yesterday on the way to Vince's house and it has this whole betting on the Oscars thing-- it's downright hilarious, so here's the web version for everyone to enjoy: The Better's Guide to Oscar Night. My head really hurts, and the Aspirin I took feels like it's about to come up again. I wish I had some orange juice, because I finished off the grape-raspberry stuff, and it didn't taste very good anyhow. At least I have these Cinnamon Raisin muffins Mom (in all her thoughtfulness while shopping... so that's one point for her) bought.

You know, on the cover of the Wave with the Oscar statue? The shadow of the statue is making a peace (V is for Victory would make more sense, considering it's the Oscars, but what do the people at the Academy know about Japanese cultural symbolisms?) sign! And inside, the shadow is making a hang-ten (cowabunga, dude!) sign! *giggles*

Oh, and for the record, Colin Farrell and Jean-Claude Van Damme are HOTT! (or JCVD *was* back in the 1980s). Can't wait till 'Nemesis' comes out on video... and I'm looking forward to Monday with a shocking intensity. Scary, ne? Wednesday and Friday too. I haven't played Initial D in a while. For some reason, I think the Wall of Fobs has migrated from SFSU to RTA... I've never seen less than 4 cards on the machine on Fridays lately. *sniff*

I had the first ever PeachGirl character quiz, and lo and behold, when I bother to check accesses to my Peach Girl quiz on Quizilla, 4 other people have made them! They didn't even bother to use creative titles... and their questions, frankly are obvious. =P At least I use more characters than Toji, Sae, Momo, and Kiley. Not to mention my questions don't give away who they refer to! Feh, lame copycatters. Now YOU take my quiz!

Red Carpet Results

Whee, just got back from spending over 4 hours of my life parked in front of the TV watching the Oscars. There was one year I didn't watch it, and that was a very stupid thing to do. Unlike most other "big to-do" programs, the Academy Awards are well worth the hype. For whatever reason, if you missed it (You have my condolences) here are the results:
+ Best Actor: Adrien Brody - He looked so shocked that it was almost funny. When he finally got onstage, he planted the hugest, longest kiss ever on Halle Berry, who presented him with the award. !_! I wonder if she's married... >_> He actually managed to stop the orchestra from cutting him off (he went way overtime) but his words were very poignant-- talking about exiled director Roman Polanski, what The Pianist taught him, and how it all relates to the "current situation."
+ Best Actress: Nicole Kidman - She didn't cross paths with Tom Cruise at all tonight-- at least, not that we saw on the air. To be truthful, we didn't even see her ex-husband in the audience! @_@ Her bright blonde hair was just a BIT too artificial looking, but her dress (like every other woman's there-- black!) was very nicely designed, even if the strap came off while she was crossing the stage later on in the show. She seemed a bit snotty in some parts, but she looked genuinely grateful and blessed to have gotten the award. Her daughter's cute. ("My mom's an Academy Award winner, NYAH!")
+ Best Supporting Actor: Chris Cooper - To be honest, I didn't see Adaptation, but Chris Cooper, the forerunner for this category, seemed pleased to have gotten the award. But he, like ALL of the other winners (I kept track) didn't thank his fellow nominees by name. Har har.
+ Best Supporting Actress: Catherine Zeta-Jones - Until she got onstage, I didn't know how incredibly PREGNANT she was! And she pulled off a very elegant dress (mucho cleavage, too-- pregnancy has its plusses at formal events, I guess) too. She was SO happy, she was crying, but she must have had waterproof eyeliner, because she looked just as gorgeous singing with Queen Latifah ("I Move On," from Chicago)
+ Best Adapted Screenplay: The Pianist - If you'd watched the Oscars and saw the actual order in which awards were presented, this would have been no surprise. I really want to see it now, despite Adrien Brody's strangely-shaped nose (well, Harrison Ford's nose is funny-shaped too...).
+ Best Original Screenplay: Talk to Her - I'm surprised, I honestly expected My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Everyone was raving about that movie earlier in the year... and I still want to see it. The lead actress (and I think the screenwriter too?) was really funny and outgoing.
+ Best Animated Short: Chub Chubbs - They looked like a cross between chinchillas and hamsters. @_@ I wonder what it played with, though, as I'd never seen it before. But it looked cute.
+ Best Live Short: This Charming Man - This was a foriegn film, but I can't remember where it was from (France? Somewhere in that area ^^;) But uhm, yeah, good for them.
+ Best Short Documentary: Twin Towers - I didn't see this, but I'm guessing I should. Documentaries are often very thought-provoking and poignant. At first, I thought it was about something different, but the title should have made it obvious, eh?
+ Best Foriegn Film: Nowhere in Africa (Germany) - Whee, Germany's getting better at this kind of thing! They have excellent music, cool DJs, and they've been winning awards for their films for the past several years now. The movie looked somewhat interesting, too.
+ Best Sound: Chicago - The beginning of a trend. To do a 1920s-based musical film, you definitely need good sound directors.
+ Best Sound Editing: Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - One of the few awards this movie actually won.
+ Best Score: Frida - You know, I was getting sick of this movie winning awards, but then Chicago and The Pianist slowly started taking over. Still, the movie sounded awfully interesting. Disturbing, but interesting.
+ Best Animated Film: Spirited Away - I hoped Lilo and Stitch would win, but it didn't have the animation quality of Disney's previous winners, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. Besides that, stunning Japanese animation owns American stuff any day of the week. Too bad neither the director (working on his next movie) or his producer (I think... whoever it was, he couldn't be there due to "safety reasons." Kind of odd, considering you can take a plane from Japan to CA -where the awards were held- without even going NEAR Iraq and other assorted at-war countries) could be there to accept it.
+ Best Art Direction: Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - Tell me you didn't expect this one, what with all the work that went into it.
+ Best Makeup: Frida - There were only two nominees for this, Frida and Time Machine, and I really didn't want Frida to win. -.- Oh well.
+ Best Costume Design: Chicago - It's starting to remind me of Moulin Rouge with its incredible music, sexy actresses, thrilling storyline, and great costumes. Now I *really* want to see it. Know anywhere it's still playing?
+ Best Cinematography: The Road to Perdition - I'm glad this one got at least one award. I wanted to see it when it was out (and, as was usual for that time of the year, I missed out) but seeing it get an award will make me rent in when it comes out in a few months.
+ Best Documentary: Bowling for Columbine - I expected this, but guess what? Michael Moore got booed off the stage since he started getting so political. I mean seriously, BOOED. Not to mention the orchestra started to overplay him. It was funny for a little while, but then it just got pathetic.
+ Best Original Song: Lose Yourself (Eminem) - A complete shock here-- I was surprised he was even nominated, but I have to admit, I love the song myself... Eminem wasn't there to get his own award, but this badly dressed (how did they even let this guy in?) guy with a basketball jersey, long (below his shoulders... and this guy was at LEAST 6'4") curly hair, thick glasses, and a bunch of plastic-looking necklaces aceepted the award... and he kept saying "Marshall." Is that Eminem's real name? I've never been big on rappers.
+ Best Director: Roman Polanski - I expected this, since The Pianist got so much recognition, not just from the Academy, but from the actors, actresses, and other winners/presenters. In case you didn't know, he's been indicted for statutory rape (pshaw!) and is somewhere in Europe, as he's been exiled from LA. Maybe the Academy took pity on him and wanted to convince the LA court system to let the guy back in? In any case, the movie sounds fantastic. Good for Roman!
+ Best Picture: Chicago - You saw this coming, didn't you? What, you expected Two Towers to win?! ^^;;

NOTES:
1 - Jennifer Lopez (according to Steve Martin, J.Pez) sat next to Ben Affleck (who looked like he either had a huge zit or was super-shiny) and, to everyone's surprise, did NOT wear a see-through dress! But sea-foam green is not her color... not to mention it didn't look like she was wearing underwear (what else is new?).
2 - Jennifer Garner was there-- and oddly enough, she presented with a digitally-rendered Mickey Mouse (that must have been weird for the audience members, to pretend they saw Mickey reading the award). Her dress was nice and all, but she had major boob-squishage. Like, corset. I think she looks MUCH better in the numbers she wears in Alias (so sue me, I have a teensy crush on the woman!). =D
3 - Steve Martin was funny in some parts, but in others, I think the crowd just laughed out of pity. Some of his jokes were, if not downright cruel, terribly unfunny and/or stupid. Bah.
4 - Most women (save maybe 4 or 5) wore black dresses. I congratulate those who didn't-- thanks for having a sense of taste! Halle Berry, for the record, had the #1 favorite gown in Oscar History (from when she won Best Actress last year) and this year, wore a gold-peach glittery number. Black and that color seemed to be the most popular. Except for Julianne Moore, she wore bright green. =D
5 - Queen Latifah (to be expected) and Catherine Zeta-Jones can SING! Even *more* reason to see the Oscar-winning Best Picture Chicago!
6 - Colin Farrell is HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT (repeated infinitely). He presented for an award, and let me tell you, that Irish brogue is SUCH a turn on! *drool* I hope I meet a hot Irish guy in my aunt's wedding party next year. <3_<3

WHY I LIKE THE OSCARS:
The Fashion - I used to want to fashion design, so this was the night to get inspired, critique... and so much more!
The Winners - What movies I should have seen, what I missed, and the emotional build-up... you can seriously feel the anxiety, the nervousness, the trepidation, the fun, the numbness, everything. It's so fun giggling madly in front of your TV as you watch people get up on that stage, half-afraid they'll trip and fall over their heads. =D
The Reporters - Are so annoying, but sometimes funny... and sometimes better dressed than the actual attendees! But this year's reporters really pissed me off, so if I ever cover the Oscars, I'll be so much nicer! And On topic!
