On My Side
Mar. 7th, 2003 12:05 pmSurprisingly, today's gone better than expected. I thought today would be miserable-- staying at school, singing all night, probably being lonely, and having nothing to look forward to for tomorrow. Things have improved. 1st period Mr. Ulrich explained everything about the Playathon, and while I don't have a lot of pledges, what I do have should be enough; that is, until I find out just how much I'll need for Anaheim-- probably $300+, since the dress is $50, the jacket was $40, and I haven't done THAT many fundraisers. Mom refuses to pay for leftover candies and such, so I haven't taken another box, for fear I won't be able to finish selling it. I've been asking Mom for too much money lately. But Alicia (and hopefully Rochelle) will be at the Playathon; the First Ladies' first rehearsal isn't until 7pm, but that does give me enough time to check in with my mom at home, grab my stuff:
[1] sleeping bag
[2] playstation games - someone's bound to bring their PS2
[3] this is otakudom - I've got some people interested in the hilarity of anime. Just what I need-- people quoting "... and guns, lots of guns" everywhere I go
[4] makeup and games and cards and... who knows, yu-gi-oh?
2nd period, Kripa was late, so I was feeling kind of lonely... once she showed up, I passed her a note (just like we used to in Gallagher's English class in 8th grade! Agent K and Agent M are back!) telling her about my crappy night yesterday-- she wrote back (in reply to how bummed I was about not being able to go to the dance): "O.O SHOCK! But you were so excited to go to the dance... what happened?" So I tried to explain it to her, and venting made me feel better. =)
Haha, Math class was killer today-- both Jonathans were there; J.Po helped me with the stupid natural logarithm problems (stupid base e crap) and such; we discussed video games and old school games we adored. Apparently J.Po used to be fond of an SNES game called "Zombies Ate My Neighbors." *giggles* I wanna play, just to see what used to terrify him back in the day. Wai, chibi J.Po! Jonathan Pang (aka J.Pa) was talking to me jobs-- gawd, I need one. But somehow the topic switched to Initial D when he asked if I'd race him. At first, I thought he meant in real life-- and I was about to sweat and tell him I didn't drive and "my only car" is a Buick 86 with a huge flat and a broken driver's side mirror. But he meant iD, and it turns out he plays at SFSU (he must frequently get mistaken for the "Wall of Fobs" decorating RnC's walls so often... and for some reason when I told him that, he seemed proud ^^;) and has gotten up to Takeshi so far-- he drives the same car as him too, a Skyline GTR V-spec II. @_@ Damnit, he's gotten farther than me... But we were talking about how Bunta always looks asleep, how Project D Takumi is a pain in the ass... meanwhile J.Po sat there looking confused. It was fantastic. So I'll race J.Pa sometime... maybe I'll lose, but it'll be fun to race someone for once-- someone who's at least NEAR my level (kinda low!). Blah, I'll prove to J.Pa once and for all that, slow or not, Integras have MUCH better handling than a damn Skyline! >_> Yeah! He also has the movies (Extra Stage and the OVA?) but they're on DVD... GAUGH! I want that DVD player!! or a PS2! GAHHH!!
So now I'm in journalism, and the whole idea of the Playathon doesn't seem so bad. The First Ladies have their first rehearsal at 7pm, then there's the mass choir practice for "Moment" with Chamber at 11pm. At 1am and 3am (when I'm usually awake anyway) there's another rehearsal, then again the next day at 8am (I think). So essentially, we're trading off between the Band, Orchestra, and the Advanced Choirs. Sung and Haley, doing their two-man performance, "The Last Five Years," (which he's been nagging me to go ever since he advertised it in the paper) will be rehearsing as well, so it should be fun. And it turns out that there should be 4 or 5 TVs and at least one person with a PS2, so I might as well bring DDR and some of those other games. ~_~ There'll be a crapload (buffet-style!) of food the whole time, and we have the entire wing of the school to wander in/sleep in. Past choir members have said that the choir room has a fan that turns the room into an Icebox, but Mr. Ulrich says he knows how to turn it off now. Still, I'd rather sleep in the balcony... ^_^ Maybe I can convince Rochelle up there with me...? Man, I hope she comes. I haven't talked to her in a while, and it might be nice to catch up.
The game plan for tomorrow is-- sing until 4pm, when the grand finale is... then get dressed as if I were going to the dance (why not look good? Why go home and be a grump? I spent all that money on those nice clothes and makeup, I damn well will put it to use!) and instead hang at RTA. Eva says she wants to come, so maybe if she has the cash, I can get her to come (and DDR!). Who knows, maybe I'll get some decent attention for looking nice... and maybe I'll catch a look at Will in his whole suit outfit that I sorta-kinda helped pick out. He's got good taste, I think when I was there I just sort of smiled and nodded dumbly.
I'm not going to Brown Bag Theater this week... it doesn't look too fun, and I think I should get my 'Net fix here in Journalism while I still can. After this, there's 5th period with the dreaded Thompson, then Koski's TA class, in which I will undoubtedly have to do some more spreadsheeting or something. Damnit, I tried to fix my inuyasha page yesterday, both in Koski's and in Media Academy, but changing the percentages like Fin suggested hasn't helped anything. ;_; Maybe there's something screwy in the coding? Maybe I'm being too picky? GAAH!!
I definitely should head to Levi's this weekend, if not a bunch of secondhand stores like Goodwill and Salvation Army. I need to get my Rena outfit together... hai hai! So far, our party consists of...
Rena/Lena - me
Opera - Amber (hopefully-- the room is confirmed, she's registered-- No backing out for either her or Will, or I get to steal their souls)
Claude/Crawd - Will
Bowman - Mike (HAHAHAH! This I gotta see!)
Dias - Fred
Mike isn't confirmed yet; he isn't registered for Fanime. I don't think Fred is either, but him, me, Amber, and Will are pretty much the "givens" for the con. The other people I think we expected to room with us are Bryan and Benji, bringing our grand total to 7-- and I'd like to get at least one more girl to even out the rooming arrangements. -.- Mike (if he's coming) better not snore, that's all I've got to say.
I should check up on the Fanimeboards, too, to see if there's been any updates in terms of the Fanfiction Panel. I'm going to drag Will along to that-- he'd like it, I think, it's always interesting and lively in there, once everyone gets started. And it's always pretty packed, too! ^_^ Plus there's the pool, the dealer's room, and and and... whee, I'm going to load up on doujinshi!
I also have to go on a CD-copying spree, since some of the stuff Joe lent me a while ago was apparently on a loan basis only, which is news to me. I've already copied SOEX to my hard drive, so I can give that back to him, but there's a whole crapload of semi-decent quality Kodomo no Omocha that he wants back; it's all out of order, so I stopped watching it.
Okay, well the bell just rang and I don't feel like being late to stupid Thompson's class. Maybe I'll draw in there, like I plan to do at the P'Thon tonight. Sore jya... bai bai! *dorky grin*
