Oh my goddess. How could I have gone so long without ever having gone to IKEA? I was like, in heaven today. SoCal's burning hot heaven. *drool* Yeah, so after picking up the screens for the rec room (wrong size, too. Stupid screen guy) and doing some other miscellany errands, Dad and I headed to Burbank for IKEAness. Burbank is just the shit town. That's totally meant as a compliment, by the way. You know, when something is "the shit," it's just too cool.

Not only is it the home of many studios and recording stages, but it's also where they film game shows (HELLO, PRICE IS RIGHT!!!) and just off the metropolis (Los Angeles is a few minutes away past the Valley and down the freeway) and have LOADS of wicked cool stores. Not just IKEA, but these massive complexes-- Target, a HUGE Virgin Megastore... it's just amazing.

Of course, Burbank = car required. I mean, 100%. It's impossible to get there or navigate there without one. The blocks are enormously long. And as much as the thought terrifies me (more later), I'm going to try learning to drive before this summer is out.

So IKEA is this huge, nice and cool warehouse with EVERYTHING. They have showrooms on the 2nd floor, and a Swedish restaurant, and everything is in this tricky map format, so you can skip some places, and head right to others. Dad and I were just absorbing the atmosphere, and we stumbled on the exact things I wanted, that I saw at Ikea.com. We decided on this blue/purple set of furniture-- called ROBIN. It was wonderfully cheap (though made of particle board) and SOOO cute! So now I have a purplish desk with a hutch, and a nifty bookshelf thing. I also wanted the 3-drawer chest, but that might have been pushing it.

After the showroom floor, IKEA has this whole section, called the Market Hall, filled with every single thing you could ever possibly want to decorate your house. I was hunting for hangers, a hanging organizer, and maybe a few boxes for my files, paperwork, and magazines. No file cabinet, though... o_O Hrm, maybe later? Anyway, Dad and I just went CRAZY. We got vases (he got one called a Snit, which we both find hilarious), art cards (expect letters from me soon, guys!), boxes (so colorful! 12 of them for only $4.99!), and probably loads of other things I'm forgetting. What it comes down to is my room will be SOOOO COOL! ^_^ I'm giddy with decorator's delight.

Plus, Outlook is working for me! I have all my old folders and email messages! I'm still paranoid about that one CD mom's got to send me (along with my Mousepad, as I remembered earlier today. I simply cannot compute without my Kuromi-chan!) I've installed most of my Program File CDs-- all that's left is some stray programs, like the Power of Chaos Games. I might wait on those until I get Joey: The Passion, though.

Speaking of programs, all this Yu-Gi-Oh Sims!Skinning has got me itching to install my SIMS program again. But I owned the original SIMS and House Party or something (maybe it was Livin' Large?) and then Sean lent me the program CDs for Hot Date and another expansion... but it stopped working, because I didn't have the CDs. -_- So now I'm trying to run it without the CD, using the Fairlight fix, but it's still saying "You have installed an expansion pack after Hot Date. We need to update your installation. Please press OK." So I press OK, but nothing happens. I've got Superstar, Vacation, and Unleashed on their way in, but I suppose if I want everything to run magically well and be super-cool, I'll have to buy Makin' Magic. Unless someone here knows a way around that error of mine...? *grin*

Tomorrow is the World Championships! I'm waiting for James to call back (again)... I'm just too paranoid to do it. I'm paranoid about a lot of things, you'll find. After a grueling parts-bringing-up-the-stairs session, along with a garage overhaul, Dad had me move the car to the sidewalk from the driveway. Now, being a mere 5'2", I had to move the seat up a lot, and even then, I couldn't always see through/past the wheel. I was so scared about being behind the wheel of a REAL CAR that I revved the engine up WAAAAY too much, and both Grandpa and Dad thought I was going to blow up the cylinders. Lots of faith those two have in me, huh? Well, after more paranoia, fear, I got the car parked. But... GAAAAH! Car = scary!!

Anyway, Mamono has apparently written another challengefic that I somehow missed on LJ. No one tells me anything anymore. Hey, if you posted a challenge, or have gotten/written Challenge replies for a Yu-Gi-Oh fic as of late, let me know, so I can link to it!

*sigh* Man, I need a shower.

Mad Scientist, eh? I like that. :D

Heh, so I take it you liked that one? *dodges random projectiles* There *is* a sort of companion fic to it which actually inspired it Here But if you're doing Harley's challenge don't read it yet.

Then there's this atrocity of a weird thing...

World championships! Wee~ You must tell us ALL about it when you get back. Seriously - you're going to have *so* much fun!! *JEALOUS*

:D Oh, and I think I'm making headway with the skins... Think - keyword... ^^; We'll see if I can do something.
