Phuck it. I have come to the le grande conclusion that it is IMPOSSIBLE to try and find a gem (or hell, even a "precious stone") of a fic amongst all the dirt, trash, and $#!t at FFnet. Don't even *GET* me started on MMorg; the filters there really don't help.

Okay, everyone knows about ygo_badfic, and quite possibly ygo_goodfic. But how often do you ever see that incredible plethora of badfics MiSTed!?

*crickets chirp*

Okay everyone, get out your fic dictionaries and... go to your local video store. Rent yourself an episode of "Mystery Science Theater 3000." That is what MiSTing is. MiSTing is a verb created by people who are fans/aware of the MST3K "way of treatment."

In a nutshell, in MST3K, a poor guy gets blasted up into space and is forced to watch stupid, horrible B-movies while his evil employers cackle away and await his demise. It never happens, as our hero builds his own robots and watches the movie with a grain of salt, inserting his own commentary, as do the robots-- most of it snide, sarcastic, caustic... you get the picture.

Seriously, nearly every single fic on friggin' FFnet in the YGO section needs to be MiSTed. I take exception, of course, to the wonderful and beautiful people on my favorites and friends list, because it took me ages to hear about them, and DAMN am I glad I did. But they are the few, the proud, the-- yeah, never mind.

We're supposed to be talking about the shmucks here. This is an endeavor. This is a project. This is me trying to grow a sense of humor in light of the things that would normally make my brain dissolve into gooey gray juice and cause my eyes and ears to BLEED grape juice! I AM GOING to MiST ygo_badfics. I just may create a community for it.

Be forewarned- MSTs are NOT allowed on FFnet, so these will never be seen there. Xing has no sense of humor for the crap that proliferates his pages, apparently. But no more turning a blind eye! I shall be the Lizzie Borden of the YGO WORLD!

I want YOU to help me do this. I want YOU to spread the word. I want YOU to find me badfics to tear apart with the help of my loving assistants *points to the bound-and-gagged Yu-Gi-Oh cast* ... BWAHAHA!

Prepare to be MiSTed, biatch.

Most people don't volunteer their fics to be MiSTed, but if you're sure, I'll take a look at them and see what I can do. But I warn you-- MiSTs are not like a beta reader telling you what to fix-- they are dry, witty, snarky attempts at humor, making fun of the fic.

*nods* Really, the only ones I'm proud of are my songfics, my one-shot and HP & TSP. Dreams of Innocence is getting out of hand...Enigma is lost and RWtC is jsut gone...

Besides, it'll be amusing to see my stuff being made fun of. :3

If you still need fics though, I can find you a whole bunch.

Yeah, send suggestion lists my way-- links are most helpful. You can always check out MST archives (if your 'HP' was Harry Potter, then I recommend Lizzie Borden's stuff-- it's hilarious) to see examples of the badfics that get turned into MSTs. Or, just send me whatever makes you cringe and want to bash the monitor in. That works too.

I'm already involved in the Ronin Warriors one - since it's a smaller archive, my buddies and I were working on infiltrating the entire archive with good fics - it was hard to pump them out as fast as the bad ones were coming in - damn, the bad ones came in as fast as bunnies giving birth. ;_;

I'd like to see some orginal storyline/plot/character development.... i understand that circumvents the whole point of fanfics but i dont know if Yu Gi Oh is deserving of so much attention. Heart of the cards gets pretty stale after a while.
Plus the cardgame itself is sub par... Too much rare abuse, and the tribute system is clunky. i'd reccomend Megaman NT warrior (solely because its made by decipher) or .Hack Enemy...Much more advanced strategy and deck construction happening in thoose games.

Well, in the case of MSTs, no, you have to work with something that already exists. I'm not active in the Megaman or other animes, but I know that YGO is rife with badfic; hence my desire to riff it to death.
