azuriteYou guys all remember the brat (aka w-cat aka ru55et) who gave me such guff over some concrit I left her in one of her Yu-Gi-Oh fics? Well, she's changed her pen name yet again. And guess what? It actually FITS! It's "immatur3." HAH!
Okay, so I've been mostly making CD labels today... and of course, stupid Media Face 4 is really not all that. Not only does the alignment of the printed pages get suckier with each label created, but there's no tool (as with other label makers) to take square images and distort them to fit the round label shape. Grr. Well, I had to make do with my Initial D Nonstop Megamix label, and instead I used a liquid background and a bar code for style. It actually looks pretty neat.
But of course, my computer hates doing anything creative-- it decided to restart itself of its own accord TWICE (or was it 3 times?) tonight. It pisses me off. So I have to start getting rid of stuff. I started with the basics-- all those stupid files that got infected by the Klez virus/worm/trojan/whatever it was back in 2002. I can hardly believe that a) this computer is that old and b) that I still kept the files on as long as that. But since there's no hope of restoring the corrupted files, I just kissed them goodbye. Got rid of a good chunk of stuff, too. But there's now loads of images and MP3s that I need to get to make up for it-- stuff that got corrupted, but I never re-downloaded.
Mom took over the computer once she got home, trying to find airfare and hotels for the wedding in September. So here's the low-down:
(1) The wedding is on September 4th, but since Mom's in the wedding party (and I am not, apparently because Kara --the bride, and my aunt-- can't afford it. I just have to keep reminding myself that I would not *want* to be in a 30-40 year old's bridal party anyway), she leaves on the 1st.
(2) The wedding is in Rockville Center, on Long Island. Mom wants to stay at a hotel relatively close to the locale, but she's flying to JFK Airport, so places close to the 'port are okay too.
(3) She's flying JetBlue; which I would *love* to do, but I'm going to be in school. I don't get to leave LA until the 3rd (after classes end at 12) ... and the closest airport to me at school is Burbank, aka the Bob Hope Airport. JetBlue only flies out of Long Beach. -.- There's also LAX, which has most major airlines, but that doesn't mean it's cheap. Cheap is important... especially when you want to blow loads of money visiting people and places in the Big Apple.
(4) I also have to go BACK early, even though I don't resume classes until Tuesday (thank god for Labor Day!) ... which means limited fun time. Mom says she's going to rent a car, but for the days we'd be trolling around Manhattan, it's all about public transportation. And I'm kind of divided on the situation-- I'd love to cavort around NYC by myself, but I just know I'd end up getting lost or eaten by rats. But seriously, being stuck with my mom and Gary in NYC for gawd knows how many days? Yeeech. I also want to go to the Statue of Liberty, which my mom might not care heads or tails for... PLUS I need to see Mike. :)
Well, Mom loves to yell at me. She was insanely annoying today, and the fact that she works on a computer all friggin' day yet doesn't seem to know how to WORK one seriously pisses me off. And she's seriously got a mental deficiency from all her years of pot smoking-- she has to repeat stuff endless amounts of times, she is BEYOND a nag, and OH YEAH! she also makes excuses for everything.
Can you sense that I'm going to be QUITE enthused to be GONE?!
I should be getting to bed soon... I'm supposed to meet Marcella and Steph tomorrow (yay!) and quite possibly EVA!!!!!!!!! (I put the multiple exclamation marks in the hopes that the aforementioned UCLAer will pay attention and show up.) And then there's FAITH tomorrow night... X_X What to wear!? I have to put my contacts in, I know that. Mer will *not* go to a club and be a dork in glasses.
But, in case you're curious, I have made some progress on:
* Peach Girl 18 translations, at Baine's request... I will be posting the completed version once I finish it (hopefully within the next few days... but if anyone knows of a CONVERSATIONAL JAPANESE --> ENGLISH TRANSLATOR online and FREE, tell me about it. Because Google Translate, Altavista's Babelfish, and even Dictionary.com's translator ALL SUCK for Japanese. And there's only so much guessing I can do, rusty as I am.)
* Prophecy Girl -- Though out of order. I worked on Chapters 7 and 9. :)
* WDKY... Well, I *might* have made some headway with the big plot-hole-math-error thing I was talking about earlier. What I need to do is email Atlantis and see what she has to say about this brain fart of mine. And it is a mathematical thing of sorts, and it DOES bug me, and it DOES affect the story, because I am THAT meticulous of a planner. I'll figure something out. I think I need a really big DryErase board or something though.
* Awards -- More touching up to be had for last year's Mamo Day awards... they're animated, so I have to tweak them until they look right! This year's won't be animated, and I have yet to decide on an exact design scheme. Plus-- gah! LAYOUT! ;_;
* MUST FIX BEA ERROR TOMORROW. I still need a question to ask members when they join. Something Seto/Anzu-y. I don't know-- what should I ask? Best question would be like a multiple choice one... Maybe between 2-20 answers. Anyone have any ideas?
