azuriteWow. The duel of the century. The most AMAZING, CONFUSING, COOLEST DUEL EVER!
And I won! YVD might be buggy as all hell, but I WON!!
Okay, so I was using a mock-up of my Kaiba/Dragon deck-- similar to the one I have IRL that I used at Fanime, but with a few more "wish" cards-- extra Lord of D.s and the like. Mamono was using a Water-based deck, which had an amazing kick to it-- The Legendary Ocean acting as Umi, in combination with Tornado Wall, which prevented any of my attacks from doing damage to her LP.
She managed to get the damned thing out on the field TWO times-- and I had all sorts of fantastic monsters on my side of the field, while she had ZILCH. For the longest time, neither of us could do anything. I didn't bother attacking unless she had a monster on the field, and she didn't have any monsters to summon. I had all my monster spaces filled, and she had all her spell and trap spaces filled. I had nothing to destroy ALO or TW with, so I was stuck.
And it was beginning to look grim for me, because she'd Change of Heart'd me before and attacked me with my own Enraged Battle Ox (equipped with Axe of Despair, which by the way, is an Archfiend, did you know?) for 2700 points of damage. She got me down to a ridiculously low number of life points, and even with 49 cards in my deck, after all the drawing, discarding, and turn skipping we'd done, I had only 10 cards left.
I managed to Swords of Revealing Light her, and she in turn, Negate Attacked me, Magic Cylindered my butt, and... well, it was ridiculous how much the duel was like one between Kaiba and Yugi, tough, but evenly matched. And I'd said something about "The heart of the cards" in reference to the upcoming duel showdown between Zork/Anzu (my character) and Kaiba (her character) on the RPG, and she scoffed at it... and that's when the tides started to change.
5 more cards left in my deck. She just activated her third and final Tornado Wall. I had 2 monsters on the field, Enraged Battle Ox equipped with the Axe of Despair, along withMaha Vailo and the Book of Secret Arts . The Heart of the Cards worked for me, because I snagged a Remove Trap and killed her wall-- though where my card had gone caused some confusion.
YVD (YuGiOh Virtual Desktop) is a very buggy program, btw. I wonder if Apprentice works any better. After two attacks, I had Mamono, once at 6000+ LP, down to 2300! Me? I was at 50 LP, and expected her to kill me with a Just Desserts or something. But apparently the cards weren't with her, and I got to attack her my next turn-- Enraged Battle Ox's effect allowed me to deal damage to her LP as difference (it attacked a defense-position monster)! Then powered-up Maha Vailo attacked, and I WON! With 50 LP, and 3 cards left in my deck! Talk about a close call!
Mamono went rifling through her deck after that, to see if any future draws would have helped her out, but I think she said Raigeki was last, so she was kinda screwed where she was. A lot of the confusion was caused by YVD, so I think I'll hold off on such duels... I can't wait to get "Joey the Passion" and play via LAN or whatever. I wonder if there's a way to LAN-hack and play online. That would be so cool...
Currently I'm working on "The Rose Chronicles" as a fic... the page itself I'm still trying to figure out layers for. I followed all the instructions in the Dreamweaver tutorials and everything, but for the life of me, I can't understand why the page keeps expanding to the size of my browser window, and the table keeps getting split apart. Does anyone know where I can go for help? *bawls*
Man, I need loads of money.
* Tablet - $50 (could get anytime)
* PS2 Mod - $105 (need to get before Aug.)
* AX - $250 (estimate, don't NEED to go)
* Joey the Passion - $30? (MUST HAVE!)
Being broke sucks. Where's a high-paying focus group when you need one. Oooh, market researchers~!
Anyway, sleep + inspiration + Harry Potter 4 is calling to me. I know I haven't even been awake all that along (what, 7 hours?) but... I don't know, maybe going to bed early will get my sleep clock back on schedule again.
Yay, RPG fun! Fic fun! Webpage fun! Why can't I get paid for being online, huh? I need new LJicons.
