Hold on to your hats, ladies and gentleman, you have entered

THE RANT ZONE!

I invite you folks to check this out. *takes a deep breath* 99.9% of what follows is my personal opinion. Feel free to argue with it. I believe what I want to believe, because this is a free world, a free society. For the most part.

This girl is the best example of bigoted, hypocritical haters I have EVER seen in my 18 years. She is intelligent, however, but brutally sarcastic, to the point of being caustic. I swear, I wonder what people at THE WAVE, THE SF GUARDIAN, and hundreds of other magazines would say to this little bitch upon reading her one-sided comments. Don't get me wrong, I recognize that it is HER LiveJournal, and she's allowed to say what she wants, block who she wants-- in fact, since her journal is friends only, I didn't even bother commenting. But she expects everyone who reads her trash to also read her profile and discover how black-hearted she is.

I respect her for having faith. She's smart, and she knows how to hold a debate. But she can't hold really prove any of what she's saying. Not a single syllable. She cites evidence from places that are just as bigoted and disgusting. She might as well be part of the friggin' Klu Klux Klan, I swear. I honestly laughed when I saw that the KKK website was accessible from my school-- and the wording, the tackiness, the retardness of it all ... all this [livejournal.com profile] amandagrace crap reminded me of that. She's a prime canidate, I'm telling you.

Several people have made commentary to her, and she's tried to bite back, just as hard-- but she's not putting her all into it. She claims a lot of things, then backstabs herself, and says the opposite, or something damn close to it.

So, let me take you back... to this little gem of humor:

Dr. Schambaugh, of the University of Oklahoma School of Chemical Engineering, Final Exam question for May of 1997.

Dr. Schambaugh is known for asking questions such as, "Why do airplanes fly?" on his final exams. His one and only final exam question in May 1997
for his Momentum, Heat and Mass Transfer II class was: "Is hell exothermic or endothermic? Support your answer with proof."

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (in order for temperature and pressure to remain constant, the ratio mass to volume must remain constant) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

"First, we postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass. If they do, then a mole of souls can also have a mass. So, at what rate are souls moving into hell and at what rate are souls leaving? I think we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave.

Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for souls entering hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, then you will go to hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and souls go to hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in hell to increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change in volume in hell. Boyle's law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hell to stay the same, the ratio of the mass of souls and volume needs to stay constant.

Two options exist:

1. If hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter hell, then the temperature and pressure in hell will increase until all hell
breaks loose.

2. If hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until hell freezes over.

So which is it? If we accept the quote given to me by Theresa Manyan during Freshman year, "that it will be a cold night in hell before I sleep with
you" and take into account the fact that I still have NOT succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then Option 2 cannot be true...

Thus, hell is exothermic."

The student, Tim Graham, got the only A.

Done? Okay, but the point I want to make is this: "...religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, then you will go to hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and souls go to hell."

It doesn't matter whether YOU believe it, just that SOMEONE OUT THERE DOES. You can consider them wrong, sinners, bad, whatever. But the fact is, they believe it. And if you believe that your God will send people to Hell for not believing in Him, then you're going to Hell too. Congratulations. I know this was cited as a humor piece, but realize that in cases like this, it can be true. And what does anyone really know of religion or Gods? Everything we have that is supposed 'proof' of a higher power, entity, diety, or whatever-- scripture. Some people transcribing down the words of-- oh, who knows? We weren't there. Until some archaeologist unearths the 10 Commandments or the entire Bible inscribed on stone in God's language (whatever that is) then I'm a skeptic.

You know what I believe in? I believe that we should all try to get along with everyone. I believe that we should respect one another, this Earth, and everything that we recieve, because we're damn lucky to have it. These sort of beliefs have been with me since I've been a kid-- call it nurture, call it nature. Whatever it is, this is what I believe in-- and because of it, I was attracted to Paganism and Wicca. But I don't eat people's babies, curse people, or fly. I don't like being stereotyped just as much as the next person.

Okay, so she has an issue with there being an all-gay school? Or doesn't she? She doesn't seem to LIKE the fact that gays now have a school of their own (the Harvey Milk school in New York) but then, she doesn't exactly want to be going to PUBLIC school with them. She's pretty much giving herself Godly powers and Smotin' people left and right. This girl-- seriously, needs to get a clue. People have pointed out to her that times are changing, and she might as well accept what is real. It's not like preaching is going to change people's minds. Some people, maybe, I admit. But not many. Preach all you want, that doesn't give you the right to judge others. Doesn't it say somwhere in the Bible that judgment (especially final judgment on where someone will go after death) is reserved for God himself?

The Bible says a lot of things that contradict itself. I imagine it would be very hard to live a completely Christian lifestyle. I have an Uncle that lives a pretty darn Orthodox Jewish lifestyle. But it's my belief that whether or not we're born sinners, born left, born right, born Democratic or Communist, people still have this amazing thing-- choice. And forcing anything on anyone isn't right. I'm not saying that we should let all babies run wild and free and not have parents and discipline, but I am saying that people should be free to choose whatever lifestyle they want to live. Live and let live, let bygones be bygones. Love thy neighbor. It's none of your business what his sexual preference is, anyway.

Doesn't it say on the dollar bills (I don't know about the new ones) In God We Trust? The forefathers of this "great country" said that people are free to have their own religions, and yet that was slapped on the national currency. Why? I think Miracle on 34th Street made a good point of it-- we can't KNOW for sure whether or not there is a higher being up there, dictating the flow of events, time, and human behavior. THERE IS NO SOLID PROOF. But we trust in Something, up There Somwhere. We don't need solid proof if we have faith-- in ourselves, in those around us. Going around and saying everyone is evil, everyone's going to Hell for not believing in this or that, everyone and their dog canNOT be saved- what kind of talk is that, anyway?

And this girl has an issue with there being an all-gay school. I wonder why? You know, one of my great friends, Sung, is gay. It came as a sort of shock to me at first, but I got used to it. I have other gay friends-- and probably some lesbian friends, too. I myself am bisexual. I have friends that are bi too. So what? Does it matter? Does that one word (my sexual preference) suddenly define ME? Do you suddenly know ME, what I do, where I live, how I think? I don't think so. You'd have to be GOD to do that. And speaking of which, isn't the Bible itself a hypocrite? Why is God MALE? All beings (holy or not) were created equally, weren't they? I liek Wiccanism because I can believe in a God and a Goddess-- a male and a female presence. And who's to say I'm right or wrong? Who's to say there isn't some invisible floaty, non-gendered mass up there controlling the weather? The earliest civilizations invented religion to explain the happenings they didn't understand. And yeah, science is much improved now. Sometimes it looks to be science vs. religion, but then, you can always find a way to let them co-exist. They have all this time, why not for a few billion years longer?

I wonder if this girl is just as racist as she is homophobic. Would she say something along the lines of "all-black schools are bad?" People have their own institutions of learning for lots of reason-- one, because going to a public school would be detrimental. I swear, if I were at a school with a girl like that in it (heck, my own school was homophobic to an extent; some assholes I actually KNEW tore down Sung's Prom Queen posters! It wasn't as if he wore a dress or anything, yeesh! They hated him just because he was a gay-- even though he's friendly, humorous, and a great person!) I wouldn't feel very comfortable or safe. I certainly wouldn't be concentrating on LEARNING if people were harassing me just because I was attracted to someone of the same sex as me.

The other reasons why they have their own institutions of learning is because they've been FORCED to. (It's like the 1960s and before, where "colored people" had their own places to do everything!) Yeah, in some ways, an all-gay school is a step-back from the movement trying to encourage acceptance of homosexuals and bisexuals, but when those kids are harassed in ways that could be considered CRIMINAL (regardless of what's legal in America concerning gay marriages, it's not ILLEGAL to be GAY) then they deserve to go to a place where they can learn and not be harassed or treated like shoe scum. We're all humans trying to survive on this Earth, so just let it be! I don't HAVE to agree with everyone on this planet, that's why I'm exercising my right to write (har har) here. But regardless of the First Amendment and how much people like [livejournal.com profile] amandagrace abuse it, it IS considered illegal on LJ to write things that may be considered offensive to people-- especially when it pertains to things like race, sexuality, gender, etc. Subject to removal from the site... hmm, I think I'll be checking with LJ about that.

I'm not sure what I believe about people being born one way or another... as far as I was concerned, I found myself being attracted to other girls one day, but I still like guys, so I said, "Okay, I'm bi." and so I have been as such since then. And as for gays spreading HIV, where the SHIT did THAT come from? Science proved THAT wrong a long time ago. We don't KNOW where the virus came from, but I will point you at one of the current problems in the medical world today-- bacteria and viruses are mutating and becoming more resistant to medicines. And you know what? The HIV/AIDS virus is an example of ONE HELL of a strand of bacteria that did just that. Welcome to reality, chiclet.

Ugh, and that badget badger... ANNOYING! Must see Strong Bad now.

So we're all going to hell. [livejournal.com profile] amandagrace is driving the bus, it seems. Heh, I wonder if this pipsqueak is even old enough to drive?

I read her post; I am somewhat saddened for her actually. She obviously is a very opinionated person and she has such a narrow mind.

I believe someone once said that you do not learn with only one opinion but with a open mind.

Truthfully, I can see her point but her approach is horrible. Personally I don't agree with what she says and those are, of course, my reasons but she doesn't have to go and slam ideas that have obviously been approved and discussed upon for some time.

Like I said before, I feel very sorry for this girl and even more annoyed at some of the cliques she is in. There is just so far you can go before stepping over the line and this girl is dangerously close...dangerously.

Hm, it's people like that that give Christians a bad reputation. It's hard enough being accosted by atheists or agnostics who want to tell me I'm ignorant or blind or naive or dumb or in denial. But a big hunk the reason people are so negative towards Christianity is because of people like amandagrace. Whatever. Like you stated, I am not the ultimate authority on another humans judgment - that's reserved for God himself. But I seriously question whether or not she has grasped the idea that God is love, and the whole basis of Christianity is not to smite sinners, but to understand that because of the old law and what was written in the Pentateuch, that a death needs to take place for the wrongs we've committed against God. That's a very basic Old Testament, old nation, Abrahamic/ Mosaic/ Davidic way of looking at our lives. That's what sacrifices were for. But the point of Jesus, and whether or not you or anyone else believes this is irrelevant - it is the basis and foundation of Christian beliefs, - Jesus' death was meant to cover that payment. And the only thing we are asked to do in return is love him and His creation. That's IT. God never put stipulations on who you can or can not love - if you dislike someone because they are an alcoholic/homosexual/deviant/adulterer/child abuser, then you are a hypocrite. Sin is sin is sin, and there are no "ultimate sins" - there is no top ten list where a #1 tops all others. Gossip is just as bad as Murder. White Lies are right up there with Rape.

The only thing God asked us to do was Love, and it pisses me off when someone like her can't even do that.

And I just wanted to correct you on one thing, Mer - I pretty much agreed with a lot of your feelings against amandagrace, but the Bible never specifies God as "male". The English translations only use male pronouns because they are the best "generic" ways to portray it - the Hebrew words that were used, like Yahweh and Jehovah, were specific names, but God never designated himself "male" or "female". In translating it from one language to another, it's hard to get things exactly right, and so we had to call God something.

Man, that was a long reply. I need to go rant in my own journal now.... Anyway, I agree with you on a lot. And let me just say, from someone who does grasp the whole concept of "love thy neighbor", we're not all like that. I promise.
