Last night I couldn't go online because I was tired. :P Then later on, Mom was feeling sick (migraine the throwing up and the blah blah... yuck) and stayed gome from work, so she was waiting for a call from her doc. THEN I had work, which I got back from not that long ago, and now, here I am, hooked on Disney.
o_O Yes, you read right. Verses from Beauty and the Beast's "Beauty and the Beast" were stuck on my head all day, and it wasn't until I listened to my cassette copy of the soundtrack that I remembered it all. I might have just ended up watching the film if I hadn't found it. I listened to it while I did the dishes (waaay overdue, the juice was growing mold!) and sang along in my head. :P The whole experience reminded me how much I miss acting-- oddly enough. You know, if SFSU ever has auditions for plays or musicals outside of their drama department (meaning, people not in drama can try out) then I'll try out, pending on the story. It was fun back in the day... and though it requires a lot of time commitment, what can I say, there's a really great feeling you get, being up in the spotlight like that. Plus cast parties are fun.
Other news... last night I saw "Once Upon A Time In Mexico" with Joe-- that was a blast. I didn't get in trouble for being there, and today during training, I found out it *is* okay to go to those screenings, as long as you are with someone that has a pass. >) No employee sneak-ins, since the radio stations and TV stations tend to over"sell" their passes. Okay, onwards for movie review:
The Wave was not kidding, Johnny Depp stole the show. I love him to bits. But Selma Hayek really should not have been top-billed as she was-- she didn't play a major role at all, and was in a grand total of four scenes, both relatively short flashbacks. That's just my opinion, of course. She's still hot. :P Antonio Banderas was DAMN cool, and I loved the opening scene... you know how rumors go. Well this one had El Mariachi, Banderas' character, use a guitar as a gun. I mean, the guitar WAS a gun. That must have been a pain to rig, but it looked COOL AS HECK! Cheech Marin was in it too-- lots of cameos and comic relief (care of our insane CIA man, Sands, aka Depp) going on.
The movie is primarily about backstabbing, double-crossing, and triple-crossing. And I admit, Enrique Inglesias did a pretty damn good job as one of the Mariachi brothers. He was singing in a bar when we first met him, all sexy-style-- it was hilarious how the bar was charging for Mariachi songs, Mariachi kiss, and a Mariachi... well. *giggle* Guess. Plus, it's not like Banderas was the only bad-ass Mariachi-- he was one of three, though admittedly, the drunkard was more comic relief than anything (what with him going out into battle with his FINGERS as guns, until he remembered his guns were in his holsters) ... but he did have a cool ass weapon at the end. Should I spoil it? Both Inglesias, Banderas, and the actor who played Mariachi #3 (sorry, didn't catch his name) had killer weapons, and great moves. Shiz, Inglesias used rockets as bullets in his guns! Major owie kazowie! Lots of owies in there, really. ;_; I'm surprised the people at the studio approved the poster they did for the story, since it has a sort of spoiler in it...
All in all, DAMN GOOD MOVIE. But it might help, even just a little, to see the prequels, Desperado and El Mariachi.
Didn't do all that much today, unless you count putting my laundry away, thus lessening my clothes mountain! Hehe. Still have stuff to toss, fold, hang up, and sort. Come 6:15, I left to go to work. The bus I took was horrendously slow, but started speeding up once we hit Kaiser Hospital, so I got to work on time-- 10 minutes to change into uniform. For a while, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to breathe-- friggin' size 2 pants and a belt I had to cut down to probably 14 inches long, total. My waist is tiny as heck. I had to poke a new hole because the three provided still made my belt too loose. It wasn't as if my pants were going to fall anyway, what with being not only up to my navel and tight as heck, but with my shirt stuffed into them!? Yeesh. You get used to it, though.
Anyway, Alice was my trainer, and she's pretty cool-- lax, funny, but easy to understand. She showed us the break room, and the various places we have to go as Ushers. Pretty much everything depends on Guest Services-- getting days off, picking up paychecks (biweekly! YAY!), dealing with trouble customers, dealing with special tickets, dealing with validation, blah blah... everything happens there. We didn't get a chance to watch the Picture Perfect video, since someone pilfered it (though those training videos are SO cheesy, I don't know why someone would... unless to spare newbies the horror of having to sit through it). I finished most of my paperwork, got my badge (they spelled my name the first time around). BUT BUT BUT, the bestest part of them all? Time flew. Good company, I mean. I almost thought I'd be alone, but I was working with most of the people I signed up with-- Carolina was there, and she's quite cool. From New York, goes to Academy of Art majoring in film, wants to be a director/producer. Also there was Armin, one other girl (not Maria or Linda) and David (from my school, who apparently rides a motorcycle now?) and a few other guys I don't know so well. Best of ALL... this guy that's been an usher for 9 months now, helped us out while we were doing some usher sessions, cleaning theaters and the like... Mark. HOTT. Delightfully so. ;) Work won't be so boring now. I've also made a demi-pledge to DDR after work. I can't technically DDR on any of my breaks (one 30 minute break for lunch, 2 10 minute breaks... all paid) unless I quickly change out of uniform (primarily the shirt) so... yeah. Besides, it's entertainment, it's exercise, and it's cheap ($1/3 songs). I don't get any game discounts or whatnot, though.
When I'm working, Nachos, Hot Dogs, and Pretzels are all $1, and Bon Bons are $1.50. All other candies are list price, but popcorn and drinks are free-- and I can even bring my own bags or cups to hold them in. ;) I'm terrified of working ticket, since the shifts are long, and you have to deal with EVERY guest. Plus the radio system seems somewhat intimidating. I hope I stick with simple ushering, because even though some theaters are huge, it's all about teamwork and working with others, so... it's like CSP. Yeah. I have to get my watch fixed so I can wear it, since timing is very important... and bringing latex gloves and hand sanitizer wouldn't be a bad idea either... my next working days are 6-9pm Tuesday and Thursday of next week, for more training, this time with concessions! ;_; Whee.
Lonnie still hasn't called me yet... I know I probably sound desperate and pathetic, but hey, I'm going strong! I will wait for him to call me, so I do not pester him. People, vouch for me here, people are usually BUSY their first two weeks of school, right? College life is not EASY, eh? As far as I know, he's in Japanese everyday, has Judo or somesuch Tuesdays and Thursdays, and takes Psych online. I'm not sure about anything else... can't remember too well. Sadly, it has been nearly 2 weeks now since I last talked to him, but I do hope he calls soon, because I'm worried-- and not just being selfish over wanting to see him again. Is that so wrong? I'm sure he's having a hard time juggling school and work and homework and whatnot... and I don't want to be a thorn in his side. I called him enough times last Friday when he missed FX (3 total, I think) so... yeah. I will wait. I am a Sweet, I am strong! :D
I have to get myself direct deposit though... several reasons. One is that AMC is going to stop having actual PAYCHECKS soon, and the other is to stop me from going on spending sprees. There's a lot I *want*, but probably nowhere near that amount is what I *need.* I mean, here's a small sampling of WANTS now:
* Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon manga - rerelease Vols. 1 & 2 ($20 at Amazon.co.jp)
* Cyberhunt account - ?? (best deal would probably be for 50 hours or more, at $50)

Ah yeah, browsing my emails and the Usenet groups. Time to start stocking up on BINARIES again! W00T! Lots of things I need to remember though-- sorted through some more of my Non-Working files. Blah, they're depressing to look at, especially when I have to delete ones that are like, huge in KB and had lots of great ideas that I'll never remember... or maybe not anytime soon, you know? *sniff* And ones that have odd titles? Ugh, pain to remember. Wish me luck, mmkay?
