A Girl Who Doesn't Like Shopping
Aug. 31st, 2003 02:10 pm*le sigh* Hello-lo... it's so friggin' hot, it's insane. I woke up this morning around 9:30 or so, got up and had a banana... no milk (except soymilk, YUCK!), still somewhat tired because I'd stayed up all night watching cable! ^_^ Whee! Okay, the following stations have captured my interest, and if I were to have Very Limited Cable, these would be the stations I would watch all the time:
STYLE - great shows like "The Modern Girl's Guide To Life" and "Look Good for Less." I had such fun watching those shows for hours last night and writing down tips!
FOOD NETWORK - But of course! I don't see what everyone likes about Emeril, he's not that cute or funny or anything, but I watched some UNWRAPPED since it was On Demand (whee, freeness!) and it was fun! Where have I seen Marc Summers before...?
Of course, stations like Cartoon Network, Sci-Fi, TechTV, A&E, and other assorted, popular favorites are still pretty interesting, though I didn't watch any of those.
I decided to catch a showing of "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," another one of those chick flicks with comedy and romance that makes you embarassed enough to eat pillow. I would know, I almost did! But still, both Kate Hudson and Matthew McConeghey (uber spelled wrong, I know) are hot! And I admire "Andie Anderson" as a character for several reasons-- her name is "Andie" (like my nickname, Andi!) and she's a journalist! >)
So I was in the middle of watching the EDIBLE edition of Unwrapped when Dad came in and nagged me to get going to the mall. So I got going, Grandpa drove me... loaded with a mere (haha) $60. Went to JCPenney first, and there went $55! ;_; Two sweaters and a pair of MUDD jeans... it cost so much despire all the labor day sales because so much wasn't in my size, and I had to compromise the cheapest stuff for what I could actually wear! Too bad I didn't check out great stores like Rave first, not to mention Wet Seal-- oh my god, there was so much I wanted that I couldn't get! I'd gotten a Cinnabon and a hot cocoa (damn TOO HOT cocoa!) in the morning, since it was the only thing open, and having only had a banana, I was still hungry. When everything finally opened and I shopped, the money was gone pretty quick. Still, I made a list of everything I couldn't get that I wanted, and I figured it out that if I work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, in 1 week (at a salary of $7.25) I can make enough money to get all those clothes I wanted-- assuming my ignorant mother DOESN'T take me fall shopping, like she should...
I say should because she rarely takes me shopping; the majority of my clothes are hand-me-downs. I would be happy with shopping at Goodwill or places in the Haight, I don't NEED Rampage from Macy*s or anything. -.-; SIGH... anyway.
So I guess we're leaving soon... maybe another hour or so. Some laundry is still drying, and Dad's still painting the rec room windows he's been working on this weekend. I was hungry, but the idea of having ravioli from last night (Steve, Jamie, Vivian [Steve's GF] Dad, and I all went to the Macaroni Grill-- we decorated the tablecloth with our four crayons and I bitched about the so-called "opera singer" employed by the restaurant) made me lose my appetite.
Dad says I could make lots of money tutoring old people how to use computers. ^^; What do you think?
Oh yeah, did I mention what I got with Baba last night for the wedding? Jewelry and shoes, mostly-- it was kind of fun, kind of tiring. Baba gave me $60 so I can go to Lida's and get my hair made all one color, a shade or so lighter than it is now, and my roots covered. If $60 isn't enough (and I have the slight feeling it won't be) then Mom will have to chip in-- she has, after all, been getting $400/month from Dad! -.-
Yep yep, so that's my weekend. Next time I'm down here will be Thanksgiving. I'll be seeing everyone for the wedding and all, but it's different when everyone's in the house. I like being down here and all, but the sad thing is, I never feel part of the family. Not just because I'm not "really" Jewish, but because ... well, if you looked at the refridgerator, you'd see what I mean. There's pictures of Baba at Erin's graduation, at Josh's bar mitzvah (which I wasn't even INVITED to!) and all that... barely anyone came to MY graduation. Heck, friends of mine in my own CITY backed out on me! So much for a day of wonderful memories. Don't get me wrong, it was still fun, but don't we all wish something could be a little bit better than it is, or was? Anyway, there's just not many pictures of me on that fridge-- maybe one or two out of 50 or more, and most are pretty old at that-- back when I still had long, brown hair!
Well. I guess it's better than the dysfunctional death-trap that is my mom's family. Hehe, you can't win them all! All in all, a pretty decent weekend. I'm just feeling kind of sick (I've been coughing a lot since before I left) and hot... man, it's hot! I wanna go for a swim! ;_;
