Okay, you guys probably heard shortly after 9-11 that if you took one of the flight numbers of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center, and typed it out in WINGDINGS font, you'd see a building, followed by a plane, followed by a bomb, then the skull-and-crossbones. Ominous, is it not? Well, I thought that just had to be one big, scary coincidence (after all, there could have been hundreds of flights that landed just fine with the exact same flight number-- maybe years previous, or on another airline altogether). But now that I re-examine WINGDINGS, this is what I find, and I DO NOT LIKE IT ONE BIT:

now this is weird.

I'm disturbed. It looks pretty anti-semetic to me, just as the guy on Everything2 pointed out. And if you don't get the references, figure it like this--

JEW -- Converts to Catholicism --> Jew = Happy.
HELL -- Okay, not so anti-semetic, but still. Hell is over, down there, and it is a VERY BAD place (hence the *2* sad faces)
NYC -- New York City has a HUGE amount of Jews there. Yet the acronym for it seems to make it out like it'd be a much nicer city if all the Jews there were killed...
JESUS -- Okay, this one just CANNOT be coincidence. A happy face, a hand pointing to it, and then two tears surrounding a cross. You cry over Jesus, you worship him, you become happy (in the afterlife?) I'm reading this all backwards, mind you, but it makes sense that way.

I AM FREAKED. I wanna check out some other words and other Wingding fonts. Thoughts, anyone?

It's just an urban legend, pay no mind.

Well, the 9/11 stuff was a BS urban legend stuff anyway. The person who originated it probably just typed it out on Wingding and was either amused or freaked. Or he was an uncaring asshole, as many idiots tend to be.

As for your interpretations, I think you're probably just thinking WAY too deeply into this stuff.

I don't know what you're using, but I don't get any of those results with my Word's Wingdings. In fact, none of my fonts even has religious symbols in them.

Yep, I tried all of my Wingdings, even 1, nothing.

That is freaky, no matter how you slice it.
