Oh no, she's doing it again
Dec. 7th, 2008 02:29 pmSo, for those of you that celebrate Christmas, how many of you have more ornaments than can honestly fit on your tree? I know I do. I also know that things like lights and boxes of ornaments tend to be rather inexpensive, depending on where you shop.
So read this post by
guardian_kysra and think-- 'How much time would it take me to get a small box of ornaments together and ship them out to Louisiana?' Answer: if you start working on it now, not that long at all!
As I did for Sandy a few years back when KatRita hit and sunk her scanner, I'm rallying up the troops again to make sure she can still have an awesome Christmas. What does this mean? Well, soliciting everyone for a little something, that's what!
Now, I'm as broke as the next person, so I'm not asking everyone for a huge monetary donation. Here's the deal:
* Handmade Christmas ornaments. Whether it's something you made from Fimo or a piece of artwork you've drawn, inked, colored, and laminated and tied with a ribbon, why not add a personal touch to a tree in need? Make a few cute ornaments, put them in a nice box, and send them to Louisiana!
* Ornaments you don't need. Ornaments in nice shape, of course. But if you find yourself with one too many boxes of rainbow colored balls, why not send one to Louisiana? This can also include bows/ribbons or other shaped ornaments-- don't limit yourself to metal or glass balls!
* Small donation. Since she's out one Christmas tree and other house-fixing expenditures take priority, how about we chip in to get her a Christmas Tree? (This one's got white lights, but there's one for the same price with rainbow-colored lights. What do you think?)
If we do this, a mere $10 US from 6 people would get us the tree! That means if we rally together 12 people, it'd only be $5 per person, and 24 people would only be $2.50 a person!
I thought getting a smaller, pre-lit tree would save a lot of time and stress, but there are some great deals on taller, non-lit trees (they're still artificial though). We can also throw in an inexpensive pine tree room spray that's only $8.95!
If you can help out with any/all of this, LET ME KNOW! Preferably by sending me a Private Message or an email so we can keep this hush-hush. But I'll screen comments, just in case.
The sooner people respond to this, the better, since we'd obviously like this "care package" to make it to Houma before Santa does! :) It might be cheaper if we send it all together, so unless you end up sending something from your own Private Collection, consider donating some money for the items mentioned above or specify something available on Amazon so we can get it all shipped together (for free)! Alternatively, you can send it to me in San Francisco and I can assemble everything and send it out to LA! (I've got a ton of post offices near me. :P)
Feel free to pass the word on to other Kysra fans and friends, even if they're not on LiveJournal!
