Wow. Congratulations on being accepted so fast and all. I don't foresee that a mere "two essays" requirement will slow you down at all. DC has a lot to offer, but there's also plenty that the tourist guides would rather you didn't know about. My suggestion: Check out the local blogs for some real, first-hand insight before you get here in the Spring. My two favorites are DCist (for a more positive outlook) and Why I Hate DC (for that bitter, profane, sarcastic side that frightens people).
