The only reason why I am awake at 6:18am on the first day of school is NOT because of an ungodly early class (though 9:30am is bordering on it, for me) or because of work... I woke up from a nightmare, though not what I'd have expected.

I watched "Fast Food Nation" last night when I got home, and I expected with all the yuck to be dreaming about beheaded cows or blood or something. Nope, nope, none of that. I didn't even have the stereotypical first-day-of-school dream where you show up to school naked and don't realize it until everyone's looking and laughing at you.

Instead, I dreamed about some sort of world apocalypse, and me sleeping on some sort of giant water bed-- with an oversized head of Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes edition) with tentacles behind it swimming around in it and taunting/glaring at me. The whole reason why I would classify that weirdness as a nightmare is because I dreamed a lot of my family members were dead from various things-- I can't remember if it was myself or someone else that got their fingers/hand severed and was walking around with "sausage hands," but for some reason I do remember hearing that members of KAT-TUN and other assorted J-Pop/J-Rock boys got stuck in an "aluminum tank" but underwater... so I was thinking submarine, except no, it really looked line a tuna can. And while all their fangirls were hanging onto the belief that they'd survived, I had this gut feeling that by now (it had been some time... at least a week or more) that they hadn't.

This also has nothing to do with the other movie I watched the other night with Shawn, "Harsh Times" with Christian Bale. To be honest, it did kind of suck, but I watched it all the way through for several reasons:
(1) Christian Bale
(2) I paid for it
(3) Wanted Shawn to stick around and not go home YET
(4) Christian Bale

Christian Bale is an incredibly versatile actor, but it was just too much to swallow as him being this bad-ass former military guy who comes back traumatized, then becomes jaded when the LAPD refuses to take him. He can do serious roles (Equilibrium remains my favorite movie, and my introduction to CB), but I couldn't take HIM seriously in this movie with him saying things like "dog" and "homie." Maybe that's what it's like a mere 20 miles from here in downtown L.A.'s ghetto areas, but... coming from him, it sounded SO VERY LAME. And to be honest, the story wasn't that great, anyway. I thought it was a "good guy gone bad" sort of story, but it seemed like he was never really a good guy to begin with. It had great actors, just not doing great acting (parts that SUITED them, though Eva Longoria had a role which I think she did a great job at), and the potential for a great story, just one that fell flat on its face.

But did I dream about CB, or the ghettos of LA, or shootings or drugs? No. I dreamed about tentacle!Voldemort floating around and taunting me. Go figure.

Anyway, judging by the early email edition of the Sundial, my first article about the renovated Matador Bookstore complex got successfully copy-edited (they didn't ask me to come in, which can either mean they loved it or they canned it-- glad to know it was the former) and is in the topmost news section (second article, because murders always take precedence)! *squee!* I wonder where it is in print?

Keep up with my articles by checking out http://sundial.csun.edu!

Ugh, gotta try going back to sleep.
