Well, my nose isn't so stuffy and/or runny anymore, but I do have a cough, which sucks. Nothing will make people avoid you more than you hacking everywhere. At least it's not phlegmy or anything...

Today I got to work a bit early and my "usual" desk was occupied, so I decided to switch-- this area isn't so bad. Still too brightly lit, but at least there's no super-cold air conditioner above my head. I had to spend a few minutes setting everything up the way I like (Quick Launch on my taskbar, certain extensions for Firefox 2.0.0.6), and it occurred to me I might never have shared my favorite extensions. I won't link to them, since they're so easy to find, but I'll give you the proper names, a brief run-through on what they do, and why I like them. Feel free to add your own suggestions!

AdBlock Plus - I never have to complain about ads tarnishing the look of my favorite websites- with this handy extension, I can easily block single elements or even particular websites, such as infamous ad servers like doubleclick [dot] net.

All-in-One Sidebar - Like the name says, it's really an all-in-one sidebar, combining the best of the standard firefox sidebars plus more into a handy one that's easily accessible.

ColorfulTabs - By far one of my favorite extensions, it colors (randomly or according to a set schema) the tabs so you can tell them apart. Very handy!

CustomizeGoogle - When Google's search results just aren't enough, search Ask, Yahoo, and other popular search engines RIGHT from within Google's search results. It works even from the Google toolbar, the default Firefox search engine that may use Google, or even a keyword search engine!

del.icio.us Bookmarks - The popular bookmark sharing site lets you synch, check, add, and edit your bookmarks from any computer with this extension. Very nifty!

Download Statusbar - See just how far along your download is with this Download Statusbar.

Foxmarks Bookmarks Synchronizer - Synch all your bookmarks without having to upload anything or mess with any files using Foxmarks! I use it at work and it brings my thousands of bookmarks from home to work!

FoxyTunes - A minimized media player that tells you what you are playing (in iTunes and other popular players) and gives you complete control-- stop, pause, skip, go back, play, and more! It even lets you hover over the title to see the album cover and info!

Google Toolbar for Firefox - I use this primarily for the nifty auto-fill feature, which is especially helpful for forms that can be annoying-- things like surveys, contests, and the like.

Greasemonkey - Have Greasemonkey, will extend! Thousands of scripts are available from UserScripts.org, and if you use Greasemonkey with said scripts, almost anything is possible. You can view negative ratings on eBay, force GMail to show buttons it normally hides, and much more! There are even some very handy scripts for LiveJournal!

HTML Validator - Only works with Windows and *Nix platforms, but it's always nice to know if the webpage you're looking at (especially if it's your own!) is W3C compliant.

IE Tab - If it doesn't look right in Firefox (which is rare nowadays), use IE Tab to change the rendering engine of the webpage you're looking at. You get all the security and features of Firefox, but the "appearance" of a webpage as if it were viewed in IE! Only for Windows.

NoScript - Shut down everything from spyware to ads with this simple, one-click Java and Javascript blocker. It can be a pain at first adding your favorite or frequently-visited websites to the whitelist, but once you use it for a while, you realize it blocks the bad and lets you see the good. Very handy!

PDF Download - Whenever you don't want to wait for Adobe Acrobat or similar to open to view your PDFs, PDF download lets you view your PDFs from within the browser, or even as HTML! How cool!

TabMix Plus - Everything your tabs didn't do before, they can do now! It's got a Session Restore Manager for when Firefox's built-in one doesn't cut it, and you can force your tabs to display differently based on if they've refreshed, if you've looked at them since you opened your browser, or which one is your current tab. I have tabs I have yet to look at in italicized red font, while the current tab is bold and black. You can play with it and make it do whatever you want!

Web Developer - Handy for people who like to dig behind the scenes-- how is that Flash video playing? How is that background tiling? Why is that window too small? Resize, dig into the code, and do much more with this extension made for web developers.

I didn't get my laptop yesterday per se... they didn't have any 15" anti-glare MBP's in stock, so I ordered it online. I figured it was a better solution than waiting for an unknown number of days for their next shipment. I got the standard MBP, but I got suckered into getting .Mac ([livejournal.com profile] dqbunny, didn't you used to have that? Was it any good? Can I return it if it ends up being a bad idea...?) I got iLife and iWorks, too, of course, and when I actually GET the thing I'll buy a shell and possibly One-to-One and/or ProCare.

Oh, and I got a black 30GB iPod engraved. I could have gotten the 80GB, but... it hit too close to my max budget, what with the tax. Besides, even if I do start to download movies or TV episodes, I'd rather watch them on a widescreen TV or something-- not on a mini iPod. Music videos, sure... full-length anything? Not so much.

Anywho, got more of my PCH packages (honey roasted mixed nuts and collapsible leather photo boxes!), expecting all of my textbooks (gotta check Half!), and have to run to the walk-in center now. Buh-bye!
