I went to Graumann's Chinese Theatre with Scott for the first time last night, and I saw Jarhead. It wasn't as great as I would have expected, but I liked it. And I'm obsessed with that song they use in the trailer, but I can't figure out who it's by! And it doesn't look like the soundtrack will come out until December. o_O

I liked the movie just because I sort of connected with so much of it. I feel stupid saying it, but ROTC really did mean a lot to me, even if I did end up quitting in the beginning of my junior year. But it was an adventure, and a memorable one at that. Even despite the yelling, the demerits, the stress, and the getting-rained-on during the Veteran's Day parade, I think it was worth it. I can still left flank, right flank, double to the rear, MARCH! with the best of them! ^_~ And it was fun seeing Camp Pendleton on the silver screen. Heh. Remember when we went there, cutieme4u?

It was quite cool how Scott and I went on this "date" like adventure in Hollywood, and Scott was a total fluffball all night. ^_^ I like it, and I hope it doesn't mean he'll be an asshole this week (or at any time in the future). He also treated me to popcorn, a drink (which we shared), and a milkshake at In-N-Out once we got back to Northridge. Not being the type to throw a good night down the drain, I ended up staying over at his house. *wink wink* So all in all, a pleasant weekend that ended today on a good note.

I slept in as soon as I got home (around 11:30am), worked on some fanfic (WDKY22 is currently 62K, which bodes well for all of you that like your chapters looooong) and tinkered around with some homework... my magazine cover for VComm (underwent a new revision, needs some tweaking still, along with sample "articles"), my facilitator packet for Creative Writing (just have to read some critiques and grade them), and then 2 new analyses for CW. Tomorrow is just Japanese and Mythology; I remember the dialogues best when I read them in the morning, and I already posted a lengthy submission on Poseidon and Apollo for Mythology. :)

Did I mention that I passed my permit exam for Driver's Ed, and I scheduled my 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training for the weeks to come? I feel like a bit of a baby, being 20 and not having a license yet, but at least I'm on the way there! Whoo! I hope I do well and don't clam up and get scared when I actually have to take the test... and I wonder whose car I'll use? Both Dad and Scott have said they'll help me out between practice sessions with Driver's Ed Direct, though.

OoOoh...

I thought I was the only one that was obsessed with that song from the 'Jarhead' trailer. I've been to the movies like 3 times in the past two weeks, and every time I see that trailer I think "I need to go try to find out what that song is and download it when I get home".

Of course I then proceed to watch whatever movie I'm seeing and completely forget all about it.

Hmm, maybe later on I'll try and dig up some info. Gah! Thanks for reminding me how much I want a copy of that song! (runs around like a crazy person)

Jarhead was the most recent; I've also seen Doom... and I don't know what else as of late. I need to make a Winter movie list. I already have Annapolis and HP4: GOF on there (re-reading Book 4 now; if I finish 9 chapters today and continue at a rate of 3 chs/day, I'll be done with the book by the time the movie comes out!), what else to add?

Unless I post it in my LJ, I don't think I've seen anything else. It's either that or I've forgotten. :P

I had a feeling it might have something with Jesus in the name, because the only words I heard were "Je-sus come" and the whole "boom, boom, boom" thing. And then I heard a remix of Coolio's "Gangsta Paradise" mixed in-- I *think*. Jaime Foxx quoted the song in the movie, so I wasn't sure if it was in the actual song.

Long story short, THANKOO!

What a coincidence! Me and my guy did the EXACT same thing last weekend: we went to Gruman's Chinese Theater but we ended up not seeing anything because nothing we wanted to see was showing for another few hours. So we went back to his place and I also stayed the night *wink wink*

What! You're going to the midnight showing of HP4 without me? I want to go too!!! Oh wait... isn't that Thanksgiving weekend? Hmm... might be going home then...

And HP4 comes out November 18th-- NOT Thanksgiving weekend. If you wanna see it with me, I'm all for it, I love discussing where the movie deviates from the book, and what it got right.

Count me in for HP4, wherever you're seeing it! I'd love free tics but if that doesn't work out, seeing it on the big screen at the Archlight sounds cool too. Of coarse, tickets to get into that theater cost 15+ per ticket (around $17-20) but it's on aol's top 3 movie theaters in America and I really want to see it! Seeing HP4, what a great way to blow off after-midterms steam! And I'll answer your question when I see you on Friday. Call me sometime during the week and keep me updated!

It's not playing at the Arclight, but it should be playing at Graumann's. I don't know if you wanted to drive out here or maybe Scott and I could meet you there... we'd have a better chance of getting tix if we watched it here in the Valley, superior movie palaces aside.
