azuriteBreathe, breathe, breathe... Okay, I hate it when people judge me based off of one event or incident that I have the justification to be angry about. I don't usually rail on something unless I'm particularly passionate about it for one reason or another, or because it's a subject near and dear to my heart. My feelings really, truly, and honestly are hurt when Colleen calls me a "mini-dictator," especially since everyone is going around bad-mouthing Saddam Hussein the dictator. Loevly parallel we have there, don't we?
Anyway, none of that is what is pissing me off. I think I have finally figured out just what -or maybe I should say who?- pisses me off the most. I mean, gets me so riled I might just start foaming at the mouth and eating teddy bears. STUPID PEOPLE. Not just stupid people who don't KNOW any better, but stupid people who CAN, SHOULD, and PROBABLY DO know better, but simply don't! Ignorant, rude, selfish, idiots! *sigh*
Around three or so years ago, I had the monumental idea to try and start a scanlation project. Back then, it was one of the first of its time-- there's so many of them now. Back then, the idea was incredible-- and it was for Naoko Takeuchi's prequel to the hit Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon series, Code Name: Sailor V. To my knowledge, the only "translation" that existed on the 'Net was Alex Glover's text-only translation, which was very good, but lacked pictures. I wanted to scan in each page of the manga, edit out ALL of the Japanese, and truly SCANLATE the manga. However, I lacked a scanner and an appropriate editing tool, so the project sadly died. Recently, the BRAT (she infuriates me) at SignOfSenshi.com decided to scanlate the manga-- and take ALL the credit for the idea! It's not so much that her STEALING the PSV idea pisses me off-- Mikazuki was right when she said that neither of us have copyrights over the series, and, artistic license or not, she's not plagiarizing. But the thing that pisses me off is that this girl rants and rails about NOT stealing *her* stuff! She says she spent "alot of time and money and effort" on the translating-- when 1) her translations aren't even good; 2) she has poor quality scanning/posting efforts; 3) her webpage design skills are highly lacking; and 4) she completely ripped off the Manga Reader idea I had for easy viewing of the translated page. The only thing that could piss me off more is if she suddenly decided to flip the pages the Japanese way, use a better, comic-style font, and translate the liner notes, all of which are elements of PSV (Project: Sailor V, my scanlation project). My goal remains the same-- to scan and translate all 3 volumes (complete) and do it well. There's not as many members as originally, but I think I can handle the bulk of the photoshopping and online posting. The catch is, I'm taking the images (the scanned ones) from this girl, even though I have the manga myself (and for the record, the manga costs only $6-- hardly a lot of money, especially since there's only 3 volumes total). I do it because I don't have a scanner, and, while I'm not using her translations at all, I am using the base images, which she doesn't own a single line of.
Cassie thinks I should bitch this girl out, I just want to go home and shower. Or something. I keep thinking today's Thursday, and I feel weird just going home. But I suppose the sooner I go home, the sooner I can shower and head to RTA. Will owes me $15, so I'll be able to game some tonight... and it won't rain, so I might actually be able to DDR some!
*sigh* I'm somewhat calmer now. Excitement should only be related to next week's party, Saturday's performance of Sung's play "Ten Thousand Dollars" (a benefit for his theater, since he's getting sued for attempting to run "The Last 5 years" without the consent of the company that owns the screenplay), WAFF/TAFF day, Anaheim, Spring Break, Movie Monday... yeah. Much happier things ahead. =D
