And it feels all right...
Feb. 19th, 2005 11:48 amOver fourteen hours without food. Near constant vigorous, strenuous exercise, running down a beach as though the seagulls from hell are nipping at your heels. Constant temptation from friends and lovers alike. Waves of nausea, dizziness, and numbness.
No, I'm not describing the next reality TV show, or even the effects of some whacked out form of new crack-- I'm describing what I did yesterday. A self-imposed fast for the purposes of a blood test! Finally, I got it done! Ballet class was pretty difficult considering I didn't have anything to eat, but somehow I made it through, and I felt accomplished. I'm starting to understand more of the exercises and combos now, and I will keep at it-- turns out there's a lot more girls who aren't born ballerinas in that class too, and they're trying to keep pace, just like me.
I told all my teachers about Japan, and so far I have nothing to worry about except getting class notes for Philosophy and Journalism. I have to turn in my Term Project Progress Report before Spring Break as opposed to the week after, which stinks, but it's not that big of a deal anyway. Besides, if I pick up some Japanese newspapers on the Kyoto Treaty, all the better! ^_^
Anyhow, back to yesterday-- despite the new rainy season here, everything went off smoothly. Even though I forgot my wallet at home, I called Baba to get my medical record number, and I got a walk-in appointment for the blood test. I didn't have to pay for it, either! And with the walk-in, I should have gone in within 90 days of my physical, but I didn't... and the nurse didn't care! The process was relatively painless, albeit a bit disconcerting-- she filled those syringes and the attached blood vials up so quickly! It wasn't until I got in the car (the hunger pangs started to kick in, so I wolfed down one of my extra credit Tootsie Rolls from Astronomy) that my arm started to feel dead and numb, and that weird feeling spread down the whole left side of my body. It's gone now, but it had me acting all loopy yesterday.
^_^ Aside from a congested nose, I'm in a splendid mood. Scott and I are on good terms with one another yet again, perhaps the result of a lot of talking and me taking the initiative. We've got the house to ourselves right now while Baba and Grandpa are at Wal-Mart, and I'm 80% finished tinkering with Mozilla Thunderbird for my message filters. Then there's garage cleaning to be had, movies to see (we saw The Shawshank Redemption last night, and I have to admit, it's really good! It's not what I expected at all!), and places to go! I might even drive some more today, weather permitting.
I can't seem to get Photoshop CS to work on this comp, given that Scott copied everything from a Mac, and there doesn't seem to be a way to convert the *.app to an *.exe file. I have everything else except the program! (how helpful) Meanwhile, Dreamweaver MX is starting to give me trouble too-- script errors and the like. O_o I'm getting worried.
At least the new router and everything is working-- after several hours of tech support (mixed with being on hold and customer service closing on us). I did some work on the Anime Club's poster, rushed to the club and gave them the new card stickers, and left with the pretense of needing food. It was the truth, though! Scott and I got a nice table for two at Mimi's, and I nibbled my way through a delish chicken pot pie, which I still have for leftovers tonight.
This is shaping up to be a good weekend so far, and I sincerely hope nothing spoils it.
