Well, so the eye is not improving. Or it wasn't this morning, so prior to going to class I went to the school optometrist, who gave me antibiotic eye drops. Being contagious (and looking like some sort of pirate come assault victim) she told me to ditch school for today and tomorrow... yay? It's only the second day of my TR classes, but I'm already missing three... and tomorrow is the first day of my ballet classes! *wail* Well, I went in and told Sal I couldn't come in for the Sundial, and he actually thought I was supposed to come in yesterday, when all this hiatus began! (In my defense, I wasn't supposed to come in. Jodie drew up my schedule just before the problem escalated. Therefore, I wasn't scheduled for coming in the evening-- not till next week). The likelihood that this'll be cleared up by tomorrow morning or evening is slim to nil. I want to try and make anime club, at least, but there's no guarantees.

But I am doing something somewhat productive with my time-- I got my FFnet email working again (mysteriously), and I decided to splurge on a font from Emigre-- the Matrix Regular font, for only $39. And after much scanning, coloring, filtering, editing, and typing, we have the fruits of my labor AND my money...

The process:
(1) Scan an existing Yu-Gi-Oh Card (in this case, the magic --yes, I said magic-- card "Dragon's Gunfire). I tried to find templates, such as those used in Yu-Gi-Oh Virtual Desktop, or for Konami's PoC or YGO Online games, but no luck. Scans of cards online were of poor quality, and were either watermarked or cut off the edges.

(2) Remove the original text using the clone stamp, the smudge tool, and the blur tool. Lather, rinse, repeat.

(3) Take some of [livejournal.com profile] guardian_kysra's original work for Mamono's fanfiction "In The Sands of Egypt" and recolor it. Use filters and special tools to achieve certain textures, color effects, shading, and so on.

(4) Add in my own text, ranging from a first-in-series card number (AZU-001) and also the fic information (title, author, summary, genres). Credit is, of course, given to Kysra for the original art.

Ta-dah!

So I'm thinking of starting up a series of these for fics. If you want a card, give me all the juicy details:
- What sort of card would you like as the template? (Ritual - Blue, Trap - Red Violet, Spell/Magic - Green, Normal Monster - Gold, Effect Monster - Rust)
- If you choose a Monster card, what would you like specified as the ATK/DEF?
- If you chose Spell/Magic or Trap, would you like any additional icons, such as Quick Play/Instant, Ritual, etc?

You'd have to provide me with fanart, preferably of a large size and pre-colored.

And if no one wants any, I plan on making a bunch of joke Yu-Gi-Oh cards anyway, similar to Magic: the Gathering's UNGLUED set. If people want to help me with that, provide me with funny names, images, or ideas for cards.

Anyway, I have to get around to a bunch of other things... once I get better. But this impairment of mine means sitting in front of a computer isn't so fun anymore. I'm now "One Eye" Sweet, and it's not fun. I just want this to go away. Of all infections, why an eye infection? Why not an ear one, so I could take that bubblegum flavored medicine, or even a stomach infection (like Scott!) so I could subsist entirely on bagels?

Stupid contacts.

Yeech... That's an evil disease. My sis had it once. Not pretty... Hehehe "a Téa clone, but with more attitude, and less friendship talks". That's a good way to put it. Could you scan Blue Eyes and a counter play trap card? I already know what I'm gonna put on it too. -shockman

Psh. Don't worry about sending me the text if you had to pay for it. I don't like mooching. If you want money for it I could send you some if you have paypal. Uh, I don't really mind which one... Yah, mirror force would be fine too. THX. -shockman

Oh, you meant counterfeit cards... Okay, yeah. Don't need to worry about me doing that. I wouldn;t even know where to start looking for the type of paper they use for the cards much less how to forge and print them. Well, then that was smart to think ahead. -shockman

Coooooooooool!

for your eye, how about trying to use chamomile tea...or green tea...or any kind of herbal tea really. Make some, then dip a piece of cotton (either a ball or one of those round pieces that people use to apply concealer or whatever) and then press it to your eye for like half an hour...make sure to re-dip every now and then within that half an hour, and do it 2-3 times a day.

Sound silly, I know...but hey, it works for me if I ever get something wrong with any one of my eyes.
