Okay, so here's the deal-- I've been eagerly awaiting Pop Japan Travel to announce their two spring tour dates for 2005, and pray that at least one of them falls during my Spring Break (Mar 19-27) or during the "pref week" of my birthday (Apr. 9-16). No luck. Not only did they kill the second tour, but the tour available just happens to fall RIGHT after Spring Break-- Mar. 27-Apr. 3! That means if I do take it, I'd be missing a whole week of school right after Spring Break. It wouldn't be a big deal I guess, if I could get my professors to tell me what assignments were due after Spring Break, so that way I could finish them THEN. One would hope I'd have such luck.

The price for said tour is still TBA, but it'll probably be in the high $1000s or low $2000s. Either way I can afford it. But that hasn't stopped me from researching other potential tours. Obviously, I'm leaning toward a short excursion unless I can get it during Spring Break, in which case I can be there for a week plus Saturday. I wanted to get an anime themed tour, but there's not many of those. So far, my sleuthing has unearthed the following:

* JalPak's Anime Tour from Mar. 28 to Apr. 2 - starting at $1001 (no food inc.)
* JTB USA's Wow! 5 Days Tokyo Tour from ?/? (I think it's open dates) from $768 plus anywhere up to $110 tax.
* STA (for students) Travel - independent from LAX-NRT @ $727.05 during pref. week, a Custom Trip with a stay at a good hotel during Spring Break @ $1587, or a possible tour (Land of the Rising Sun or Empire of the Sun). I couldn't check the prices on the latter tours, because the dates/prices are from 2003. -_-

I searched Google, Anipike, About.com, and plenty of others, but I haven't found many other youth-centric or oriented tours. Obviously I don't want to be the lone "teenager" (or twenty-something) on any tour, and frankly I'd like something active and fast-paced-- tours of temples are great and all, but what about Tokyo Tower, the Imperial Gardens, stun gun cell phones in Akihabara, and then some? Pottery? No thanks.

Well in other news, I am a bit of a sleuth, and now, a paid one, at that! Sort of. I'm far from being the idol of my youthful days, Nancy Drew. But I did discover the Case of the Mysterious Chirping-- it was not a cricket caught in the laundry room, but a smoke detector. Since one wasn't fixed to the walls, none of us believed it, but I tracked the sound until I found a stack of detectors in the closet, and then I disabled the battery. So no more beeping! ^_^

As for the paid part, well, I got the job as Online Editor for the Sundial-- and it pays a (mysterious) monthly stipend! Yay even more! I actually told the Editor-in-Chief that I could come in around 12 today, but I got my schedule screwed up-- my first class today (actually, my only class) is JOUR 110 in Manzanita 360, the same building as the Sundial... and it goes from 11am to 2pm! So I can't exactly come in at 12. I woke up at 7:30am especially to call (or try) and come here early... turns out neither the EIC or the online editor helper-person Jodi were there, so I'm going to go back to the office in about 20 mins.

Meanwhile, Scott's officially moved in, and there's already a bit of awkwardness-- Baba said Scott could put his big clunky metal desk in his (formerly Sally's) room, but the process was tiresome (I imagine; Scott and his former roommate Derek did all the work, being that I'm just a featherweight) and scraped a few walls. Looks like we'll have some fixing up to do... Anyhow, I hope it all works out. I really, really do.

Scott's got classes, a doctor's appointment (please Goddess, don't let anything be horribly wrong with his stomach! Let it be something simple and easy to care for...), and then work-- until 10:30! Geez, the first day of school and he's overworking himself. I wish there were more I could do for him, but:
a) I can't cook to his standards
b) I can't clean, and even if I tried, he probably wouldn't want me touching/rearranging his stuff. He's picky about that.
c) I can't do his work for him.

So I'm going to be stuck doing who-knows-what at home from 2:30pm onward, unless the Sundial keeps me on campus. I want to wait until later this week to
a) Go with Scott to get my passport
b) Get my remaining two textbooks for Journalism and Philosophy, when I can get a discount while Scott works... oh, and maybe a hoodie, too!

Anyhow, I've got 15 minutes until I have to be at Manzanita, so I might as well shut this sucker down and start heading in that general direction. MAAAAN, I need a hot cocoa. I knew I should have brought cash with me today! *wails*
