This is the third --no, maybe fourth-- time tonight. I bought Final Fantasy X this afternoon, and despite immediately working on my old save file (at Mt. Gagazet, prior to fighting Seymour Redux Again), I keep dying. It's always because of something lame, like all the enemies for some reason allowed to attack ALL my party members with super-strong attacks, negating any chance I have at healing. GRR!!
I always get sooooo close, and then *flop!* dead. Dead as a doornail. No, dead as the summoners on Dead Mountain, aka GAGazet! I'm determined to stay up for at least another 15 minutes and try to get to the save point pre-Seymour. I got so close before... ;_;
I blame this on:
a) getting people screwed up on the Sphere Grid
b) doing something wrong, or not having the abilities to get the Ultimate Weapons
c) being too cheap to get all the aeons. Specifically, Yojimbo, because he's so damn expensive!
I'm actually beginning to get tired, which is a good sign, but for some reason I think I might sleep down here in the rec room tonight. *shrugs* Depends.
Anywho, I've got a blue-haired maester who's just waiting to get his ass kicked by me. A'revoir!

Re: o_O
Date: 2004-11-11 10:00 pm (UTC)Nidhogg: Use guys with Piercing weapons, preferably Auron
Bashura: Have Lulu poison it first
Banderslash: Tidus oughta be strong enough by now. Try using Brotherhood, just in case.
Flower Cannons: Firaga works best.
Grenades: Cast NulBlaze with Yuna, then have your hardest-hitting characters go up against these guys. And contrary to the fact, Blizzaga DOES NOT work well against them. If anything, if you have the Special skill Sentinel and some sort of weapon that can counterattack, that's the best way to take them out. That little strat helped me out a lot in the Omega Ruins.
Oh, and if you have any Capture equipment, be sure to use it on all the fiends that aren't Machina. You'll get a nice reward that'll help you unlock the Magus Sisters.
Yojimbo's not worth it
Date: 2004-11-11 02:39 pm (UTC)For flower cannons you need Auron and his ability to break defense or magic shields (I think his mind break and/or power break). Its been a while since I played but I don't think Lulu is all that useful (unless you run into those magical floating puzzle pieces or bombs), and the only time Rikku is of any use in Gagazet is outside the fighting (use her ability to synthesize 'no encounter' armor). I guess all I have to say is use Tidus to cast haste on Yuna and have her summon like crazy. If you don't want to sacrafice your summons (because almost all of mine died) cast haste on Auron as well as have him attack like crazy. You can also use Lulu if she has her drain ability (though this isn't always very effective). She's also useful on bombs (if Auron has used his break ability) but the bombs usually detonate before you can kill them. Good luck on the game. Perhaps its best to go back and trying to level up.
Re: Yojimbo's not worth it
Date: 2004-11-11 06:49 pm (UTC)I silenced the Grenades with Wakka's Buster attacks, but it only lasted a short while. So now I'll try Auron and break def. or magic, and see how that does.
But what do you mean by Rikku and her ability to synthesize no encounter armor? Does this have something to do with the Customize ability? That thing's seemed buggy to me-- I can have enough of the needed object (say, Farplane Winds), but I still can't customize X Weapon or Armor to have the ability Farplane Winds would give it. ;_;??? And it's not that the weapon has run out of slots...
Lulu, Yuna, and Wakka all have Drain (I don't know how), but Yuna needs to get Osmose, because she runs out of MP quickly and I have *NO* elixers whatsoever.
But if I keep dying at Gagazet, where should I go to level up? What level should I be at before taking Seymour on?

Maybe over Christmas I'll try them both again. Or level up a lot more on both.

I missed a few of the spheres that you need to kick ass there. Like Paine's special dress sphere.

Date: 2004-11-11 09:24 pm (UTC)*cough* <.< And Yojimbo is so worth it... You can con him into paying a low price for his service... And 1 gil will give you an awesome attack once you get Auron's Ultimate weapon.... And one thing-- Seymour can't hit him!! No one can *HIT* Yojimbo...! XD; Sorry, he's my favorite Aeon, I use him all the time save for the Magus Sisters... But yeah, one cure person, one attack person and one magic...and *lots* of time... X__X
If I get some time, I'll redo that battle(I believe I have a save close to their too) and see how I did it originally... X__X Use Auron, I know that much... Him and Yuna...
