So Scott TMd me around 5 just to say "hi." I wasn't really awake, let alone too willing to talk to him, so all I said was "hi" back. How was I feeling? he asked. Tired. One word answers suited my mood and how much I wanted to say. I hate revealing too much. Around 7:30, he got out of class early, and to my surprise, suggested we go for a walk to try to find a park. This was an idea we'd tinkered with before, but lateness and inability to find a suitable playground (we wanted to go on swings) stopped us.

Well, this time he only had an hour before picking up Carolyn and his other friend that live in Hollywood, so we just ended up going to the grassy area by the botanical gardens and the health clinic on campus. Not that romantic or fun, really, but it was a beautiful clear night with a few scattered stars and a bright full moon. I explained the legend of the "Tsuki no Usagi" to him,  but the truth is, it's been a while since I've really studied Japanese lore. Why *do* they believe there's a bunny on the moon, anyway? o_O Is there a folktale behind it that I'm not remembering?

Neither of us mentioned the other day when I was upset, or him being stressed about finding a place to live. Best we just put it behind us, I guess, but I know that he wouldn't have bothered to tell me that he's not going to be as receptive as usual. I know I shouldn't mind so much, but right now feels like a trying time for me-- it will be up until the clock hits 00:00. I'll try my best to enjoy myself on Halloween/Samhain though, because it's my favorite holiday, and the time when the Veil is the thinnest. I have to get everything set up by then.

After a while, we dusted all the grass off and went to Sierra Hall to the historical research room (freaky, since I was telling him about Fushigi Yuugi and the Four Gods; historical research room reminds me of the Important Documents Reference Room...) to get Carolyn and the other guy whose name I can't remember... X_X I don't know, I feel weird in the presence of his older friends. It's like my mind accidentally wants me to act my age and be more immature than I really am, or really feel.  I want to monopolize his attention even though I know it's wrong.

After all the sleep I got, I just wished we could have dropped the others off and kept driving into the night. It'd be nice, once in a while, just to ignore the world and your responsibilities like that. It kind of reminds me of that sad song, "The Way."

But where were they going without ever knowing the way...?
Anyone can see that the road they walk on is paved in gold
It's always summer; they'll never get cold
They never get hungry, they'll never get old and gray...
You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere
They won't make it home, but they really don't care
They wander the highway, they're happier than today (today...)

Technically Friday is our one-month anniversary (from our first date, I guess). o_O When we went to the orange grove some weeks back, we both climbed the trees, and Scott got me an orange; it's been ripening in his back seat ever since. I'm being kind of dorky and symbolic about it, but I figure for the anime club meeting on Friday, we can meet up, enjoy ourselves (and I can show up my neat Champloo poster!) and eat that orange. ^^;

I'm starting to be a bit more optimistic about things. I still have work to do and things to learn, so I'm taking my own (fictional) advice and taking things one step at a time...

bunny in the moon

I don't know about Japanese lore, but the reason for the rabbit in the moon in Chinese lore is because the queen who took the pill of immortality (from the mean king who got it for himself) took her pet rabbit with her to the moon when she ate the pill. Kinda an appropriate time for you to mention this story: it's half of what the autumn moon festival is about.
