We've got a long way
Aug. 31st, 2004 09:14 pmI hate dentists. Don't get me wrong, Burt's a nice guy and all, but I hate dentists. I don't get along with my dentist-uncle Butch, either. I just don't like the idea of someone poking and prodding in my mouth, telling me how horrible a person I am for not having perfect, genetically-inherited shiny-whites. My sister had great teeth care of her father. Me? I got the short end of the stick, with bad teeth from my Dad, and worse teeth from my Mom. For the longest time, I didn't give a crap about my teeth-- I drank soda, I ate cake, I didn't care. Of course, 13 cavities later, I learned to care. I don't want to shell out $800/tooth for a root canal when I'm 25. So I'm taking care of my teeth. I've stopped drinking soda, and I've cut down on acidic stuff, like oranges, lemons, and other citruses. But I was so pissed at the idea of having a drill in my mouth for an hour at a time, I had a Krispy Kreme today just to spite Burt.
All the same, there were only a few minutes of pain, and now it's 2 down, 11 to go. The scariest moments had to be when I looked in the mirror and SAW this huge gaping hole in my back left molar. I mean, it was huge. A few minutes later, no more hole! But I did have a piece of metal, sycamore wood, and lord knows what else shoved into my mouth. Cavities aren't fun. I used to think cavities were little bugs that ate through your teeth. But it occurred to me: cavity = hole. Cavities are bad because they are HOLES in your teeth. ^^; The other scary moment was when --with the whole left side of my face numb, mind you-- when I spit out blood. Never a pretty sight.
Anyway, onto somewhat less gory news, hmm?
(1) I'm sick of political talks, and I'm so fuckin' glad the Republican Convention will be out/leaving New York by the time I go there.
(2) While there, I should be paying Mike a visit. Whee, Rutgers campus! I'm supposed to say hi to a friend of the Sweet family friends who works there in the Journalism department. Hrrm, potential hook-up!
(3) Still no luck with McAfee. But one of them suggested I do a virus scan (clean comp, of course), so maybe I can try again now... *crosses fingers*
(4) I'm downloading loads of music for what is going to be this year's Turkey Compilation. There's going to be an Original edition, based off the tracks from the original Turkey Tape that I remember, plus an Ultimate Edition, with some of my more recent favorites. I still need to sort through my existing music directory and put them in the proper folders. Then to burn it to CD, and copy it from CD to cassette. I can give it to Dad as a back-to-school present or, failing that, a Hanukkah present. :)
(5) I've almost finished today's math homework (hooray for histograms!) and most of my media notebook draft for Journalism. I'm thinking I'll post the draft here later on, as it relates to the 'Net, email, and fanfiction (!), so maybe people will be interested in giving me feedback. I'm supposed to integrate what I've learned in class (from Chapter 2 of the textbook as well) and my own ideas on the topic.
(6) I got my Diversity Amid Globalization book. It came all the way from Spain! I didn't know that... I thought it was coming from some place here in the USA! o_O Even cooler, it not only came super-packed up (packing tape, bubble wrap, etc.) but it also included a handwritten postcard from the sender, in Madrid! ^_^ I gave the seller a 5/5 on Amazon.com Marketplace, because that rocked my socks so much. Plus the book is in great condition (CD and everything!)
That's it! Back to work on the essay.
I'm hoping I'll hear from Scotteventually soon...
I need help! I want to rename Chapter 7A of WDKY, since it seems to be confusing some people. 7A is the one with the dancing and the festival, and the tarot cards... any suggestions? Most of my creative energies have been sapped by WDKY11, CO7 (the sequel to WDKY), and TLC (kitties!!!).

Hm... WDKY7a? Well you could probably go with something that focuses on the dance with Ryou and Téa. (Dance with the White Rat... -.-**)
Or focus on the tarot cards? Maybe something impactful like 'The Devil?' Erm... *shrugs* Something with the other cards in the reading?
