I'd say "Come to Canada!" because it's totally there in Toronto, but this is coming up in our government soon too -- but I'm hopeful, it looks like they're leaning towards saying marriage is, after all, just a contract.
I guess I don't have as firm a grasp or understanding on the subject as I'd like, but I do know that the government should stay out of these kind of things-- discrimination is discrimination is discrimination-- and all of it is a big no-no.
Marriage vs. civil union vs. contract... well, as far as I knew, a civil union didn't offer spouses as much rights as a marriage did. I think it's all idiotic. Maybe we should just ban marriage and lay waste to the planet.

Then religion got involved (Man, I hate it when religion becomes CEO) and people began to take it for granted that religion had -always- been a reason for marriage. Thus, the male-female-only belief. That's why you're right (beyond everything else) - discrimination is descrimination is...
>_> Someone should tell the government that this is the kind of thing I'd expect from a communist third-world country or something. Somewhere where it's illegal to speak your mind.
