People really need to stop being so mean. Okay, admittedly, we've had some pretty wonky Olympic mascots in the past, but the ones for this year's Summer Olympics, Phevos and Athena, are pretty cute! Why are people going around accusing them of looking like nuclear accidents or melted condoms? They're supposed to be cute, friendly, and they are! Plus they're named for two Greek deities, so what's the problem? Yeesh.

Just got back from the Library with Baba and Grandpa. We went to the Regional Branch, which is not too far from CSUN-- a good thing, since it means I have loads of libraries at my disposal. Still, it's no Main Library, SF. Most of the books I wanted were located in Central Los Angeles (as in, the City of), so they were out of my reach. I couldn't even get a library card because I didn't have official proof of my change of address on me (the postal CoA form will do, I just have to go back to the library with it!) Grandpa did let me use his card though, and I picked up 3 great books--
* The Writer's Ultimate Research Guide - a bit dated (1995), but still helpful
* The Book of Answers - loads of fun things to inspire you
* Beginner's Japanese Script - so I don't get that rusty.

I feel like I'm getting less and less email lately. Rah rah for my SpamFilter and SpamKiller and all that-- 300 less emails to bother with. Still, I guess I'm a bit impatient to get my fics out- school starts soon, and despite only being in class 3 hours a day, I don't think I'll have loads of time to play video games, work on my website, and write fics between classes, homework, and-- yeah, I'm joining the CSUN Anime Club. The Orientation on the 12th means that Clubs will be at the Fair, so I plan on meeting the officers and finding out what they show and when. That and corrupting them to my l33t NorCal-ness. *smirk*

Baba and I swung by Goodwill-- nothing real interesting there, honestly. It's scary, but finding errors in published novels gives me this weird high. And the covers of some of Baba's romance novels? Seriously, laughable. Especially the ones with notoriously bad summaries on the back (assuming the author isn't egocentric enough to put a full-color image of themselves and nothing else on the back cover). You know what I mean-- the ones that say "Will his outback attitude tame her wild ways?" Gee, I wonder. Note to fic writers: Never include redundant "They answer themselves" questions in your summary.

Oh yeah, and 'alright' is not a word. -_- (Neither is alot.)

I'm thinking of converting some of my cassettes to CD fame. Not the usual way either-- I don't have Steve's equipment or Vince's know-how (though he was the expert on computer-to-VHS format, or vice versa). I'm just going to look at my cassette playlists and download the MP3s. ^^; I wish I knew how to rip music from cassettes, but I haven't the faintest idea. It probably would entail a microphone, which I do not have. I happen to think CDs are easier to use, and of course, can hold loads more. Besides, if I own the cassette, it's not illegal, is it? The artist already HAS my money.
