azurite: (omelette - Jou's LP are at ZERO)
Okay, this is try #3-- I tried to make a general, "Hey, hi, I'm back" post during Journalism class yesterday (it got cancelled, so I spent the class time working on an entry that mysteriously went POOF just as I had to leave), and I tried again at home... but a good day gone bad prevented me from finishing it. Or maybe it was my poor choice of subject lines (a lyric from "Bohemian Rhapsody.")

Anyhow, HI, I'm back! And I have some short, general blurbs to make before going into the whole JAPAN!! entry, which I'm informing you now will be FRIEND'S LOCKED, so FYI, keep your eyes peeled for it, assuming you're the logged-in type.

(1) [livejournal.com profile] katiat325, you have permission to bop me on the head with the blunt object of your choice. I wanted to do the big rainbow colored banner I always do for most peoples' birthdays, but as soon as I'd made that last post, I knew I forgot someone. Forgive me? ;_;

(2) Speaking of birthdays, yeah, the big 2-0 is coming up... but of course, what do I have to look forward to?
a) The family's coming over for Passover, so my birthday is again, secondary
b) Scott and I are both pretty much broke from our trips, so it's not like we'll get to do anything fun... I guess... I mean, even if Scott had money he didn't tell me about, it's probably gone now, since he had to get his timer belt for his car fixed yesterday, when his Civic broke down randomly two nights ago.
c) An astronomy test at 8am
d) A meeting with my Sociology teacher around 9:30am (and a long wait if I don't get there early enough)
e) A very boring Philosophy class

-_- Yaaaay.

(3) Will [livejournal.com profile] shockman and [livejournal.com profile] pockyken please report to the front desk? You have some goods waiting for you. Well, sort of. First, Senor Shock, I couldn't find any real "gen" (landlocked, pairing-less) doujinshi of the Yu-Gi-Oh sort. (All the Sailor Moon ones were extreme yuri-- Rei x Minako and Ami x Hotaru.) I thought I'd grabbed some, but they turned out to be mildly shounen-ai. I can still scan the pics of the 2 I picked up, and if you want, you can grab them. I'll send them to you. Second, Kenny-- I got your CD. Tell me where to send it once I make my Japan post.

(4) [livejournal.com profile] guardian_kysra and [livejournal.com profile] rhapsody_dragon are forbidden from mutilating me in any size, shape, or fashion, because I *DID* manage to find a cute Kaiba brothers doujinshi-- the art isn't fantastic, but a) *sings* Mokuba's got a gun~ and b) there are some hilarious scenes in there which I hope to scan/translate if I can. So don't think I forgot about you! Oh, Mamono-- I looked for FFX-2 International+Last Mission OST, and the Image CDs (Yuna, Paine, Rikku), but to no avail... however, I still think I can snag them online and send you what I promised. ^_^ No harm no foul, eh?

(5) ANIME NEWS! Okay, if you're a fan of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, you'll be glad to know that there's a second season coming out, called (appropriately) "2nd Gig." Yay for the major! Ooh, and Tachikoma! I wubble Tachikoma~

Next, there will be both a Naruto and a Full Metal Alchemist movie coming out shortly, though I don't know whether that's new news or not. With Naruto, it's the same old-- more fighting, secret ninjar techniques, and so on-- and for some reason, a guy with long blond hair, silver plate armor, and a shield. o_O This guy Naruto's fighting looks like he walked out of Saint Seiya! As for Full Metal Alchemist, it's a sort of AR kind of movie, in which Ed somehow gets transported to 1923 Munich-- that is, the Real World, where Alchemy doesn't exist! The catch is, before Ed can figure out how to get back to his world, he's got to solve the mystery of why there's someone who looks JUST LIKE Al there! (Btw, I managed to get a small shot of a fanservice/topless Ed from TIAF. It looks good! *drool*)

No new news on the Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid that we haven't heard already-- it's based off the Owaru: Day by Day novels, and will be a serious adaptation of the stories, with a splash of the usual wangsty romance thrown in-- just like the first series! Teh yay!

Tsubasa: Resevoir Chronicle and xxxHolic fans take note-- Tsubasa's going to be turned into an anime series (wonder if they'll use Sakura and Syaoran's original seiyuus from Cardcaptor Sakura?) while xxxHolic will be a full-length feature film. There's nothing too startling in terms of art or story-- after all, it's CLAMP, and anyone that's read the manga so far shouldn't be surprised. However, with xxxHolic, since it's the most seinen of the two stories (both are published in boys' manga anthologies) has that guy (sorry, his name eludes me at the moment) as the main character, it's more likely to be more centered toward them-- so don't expect any mooshy romance like you get out of Tsubasa (if you read between the lines).

...Hmm, I'm trying to remember anything else... I might just have to rummage through my TIAF stash of info goods to see if there was anything else of note. Other than the above, stay tuned for my Japan post!

Oh yeah...
(6) I blame it entirely on the wonderfully written "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom (also a great made-for-TV-movie-- in both cases, bring the tissues!) but I wrote a oneshot that MIGHT turn into a short series or possibly a doubleshot. It's tentatively titled "First Impression," and truthfully, you wouldn't know it was inspired by the book if a) I hadn't told you and b) you hadn't read the book. It'll be up (in its fragmented glory) in my next non-locked post.

(7) I took some Memes. They were long, could have been written better, and... well I'm too lazy to take them again, so I'll just say that for that Animal Totem one, I'm a dog (apparently cute, cuddly, and loyal as all get-out) and for the people in school (*shudder twitch*) one, I'm "those people that are just there." Yeeeaaaah.

(8) WAFF vs. TAFF day is coming soon, as is a new SMRFF layout for the webpage. Hopefully I can also repair the dysfunctional BEA webpage (GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!) I'm so friggin' close to giving up on that thing! WHY THE HELL IS PHP SO HARD!?!? and get a new layout for Darkness Rising. Lastly, [livejournal.com profile] delishidoodle will be posting some new delicious (I mean it) icons soon... using cool pics from Japan! Oro!

Inspired by Mitch Albom's "The Five People You Meet In Heaven." Comments/questions/reviews? Send 'em my way. This is a temporary LJ-exclusive fic, until I figure out what to do with it.
Let me show you how deep this rabbit hole goes... )
